Obama Places Arizona Under UN Jurisdiction

-See Second Article below -Compliance to Agenda 21

GrassTopsUSA Masthead

Barack Obama has just given the United Nations jurisdiction to go after the State of Arizona and the 22 other states that are attempting to enforce the immigration laws that he refuses to enforce.

Unfortunately, you read that right. On August 20, the United States, for the first time ever, submitted a 29 page “Universal Periodic Review" (UPR) to the UN Human Rights Council which outlines a laundry list of alleged human rights abuses supposedly committed by the United States.

Of course, the UPR is pure rubbish, but it's also much more than an opportunity for Barack Hussein Obama, the Apologist-In-Chief, to bad-mouth America to the rest of the world. Contained within that laundry list of so-called abuses is a direct condemnation of S.B. 1070, legislation enacted by the State of Arizona (and supported by two-thirds of the American people), which seeks to do the job that the federal government has refused to do... secure the border.

According to the UPR: "A recent Arizona law, S.B. 1070, has generated significant attention and debate at home and around the world. The issue is being addressed in a court action that argues that the federal government has the authority to set and enforce immigration law. That action is ongoing; parts of the law are currently enjoined."

The submission of this UPR is the first step in a United Nations review process which will culminate with the issuance of a plan of action, approximately 90 days from now, from a panel of UN bureaucrats from France, Japan, and Cameroon.

And yes... the United States would be expected to "voluntarily" comply with the UN panel's recommendations, but as the UN Human Rights Council states on its website: “The Human Rights Council will decide on the measures it would need to take in case of persistent non-cooperation by a State...."

Tell them, in no uncertain terms, that Barack Obama has gone too far and that his latest attempt to sic the United Nations on the State of Arizona, the 22 others states that are considering similar legislation, and the people of the United States is an affront to our national sovereignty that cannot be tolerated.

Tell them, right here and right now, that the time for pontifications and half-measures is over. Barack Obama must be stopped and they must take whatever action is necessary to stop this brazen attempt to cede our sovereignty to the United Nations in order to fulfill Obama's twisted political agenda.

Securing The Border Is No Longer Just About Amnesty... Parts Of The United States Are Already Under Siege... It's Now An Issue Of National Security.

An overwhelming majority of Americans have demanded for years that the United States secure its border and stop the flood of illegal aliens poring into the United States... but Barack Hussein Obama, believing that he knows best, has REFUSED to take serious and substantive steps to enforce our immigration laws.

And now, right before our very eyes, the issue is morphing. Illegal immigration is becoming a secondary issue because, as a direct result of this outrageous negligence, Arizona and cities across the United States have quite literally turned into war zones.

Arizona Governor Jan Brewer acknowledged this horrendous and unfortunate fact when she signed S.B. 1070 into law, "We cannot sacrifice our safety to the murderous greed of... cartels. We cannot stand idly by as drop houses, kidnappings and violence compromise our quality of life. We cannot delay while the destruction happening south of our international border creeps its way north."

Senator Jim DeMint recently echoed those sentiments: "States along the border are facing kidnappings... human trafficking and gang violence and they have a duty to keep their residents safe."

And we're not just talking about a pesky rise in crime... our situation is rapidly becoming more desperate with each passing day. A few days ago, the former United States Ambassador to the United Nations, John Bolton, spoke of this "cancerous spread of violence."

Bolton estimated that over the past four years that there have been 23,000 - 28,000 violent cartel-related deaths in Mexico and said that "it's not an exaggeration to say that the stability of the government of Mexico is in doubt."

And Bolton gave a dire prognosis. The pandemic lawlessness south of the border is creeping into the United States: "The gang warfare that you see in Mexico could easily be replicated in the United States... people who talk about controlling the border are not just talking about illegal immigration, they're worried about the importation of this kind of violence into our cities."

Even the former champion of amnesty, Senator John McCain, is acknowledging that "Arizona is under siege...." Phoenix, Arizona is now one of the kidnapping capitals of the world, second only to Mexico City and it is no secret that the government has recently placed travel advisories and, in some cases closed, large tracts of land as far as 80 miles north or our border.

Michael Webster with RenewAmerica.com writes: "A high ranking Mexican Army commander who insists on remaining anonymous has told the U.S. Border Fire Report that Mexican coyotes are now being trained by... the Los Zetas and are operating in the deserts of Arizona."

Another story in Human Events reads: "The United States is ceding parts of Arizona... a wide corridor of Arizona from the border North to the outskirts of Phoenix is effectively controlled by the cartels."

That's why Arizona passed S.B. 1070 and that why as many as 22 other states are presently considering similar legislation.

His glib words cannot conceal that fact that he is effectively saying to the people of the United States: The will and the safety of the American people be damned... I want amnesty to further my own twisted political agenda... therefore, I will not secure the border... I will not enforce our laws... I will frivolously sue any state that attempts to enforce the federal law... and if I can't win in court, I'll sic the United Nations on the people of the United States.

Is This UPR A Direct Affront To American Sovereignty?

Of course it is... but when it comes to the sovereignty of the United States, and specifically, S.B. 1070 and the desire of the American people to secure our border, the United Nations has already made its hate-America views clear.

In May, an United Nations panel of six so-called "human rights experts" from the United States, Mexico, Kenya, Pakistan and Costa Rica issued a report addressing S.B. 1070 which read, in part: "A disturbing pattern of legislative activity hostile to ethnic minorities and immigrants has been established with the adoption of an immigration law that may allow for police action targeting individuals on the basis of their perceived ethnic origin."

Are these folks kidding? The concept of human rights is a joke in many of these countries... where do they get the nerve to lecture the United States of America? Of course, the UPR itself was actually produced by a literal rogues gallery of the extreme left. According to Doug Hagmann with Canada Free Press:

"The report is the product of about a dozen conferences held across the U.S. between January and April 2010. The participants of these conferences featured such luminaries as Stephen Rickard and Wendy Patten, from George Soros’ Open Society Institute; Devon Chaffee, Human Rights First; Andrea Prasow, Human Rights Watch; Imad Hamad (a suspected member of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP), a Marxist-Leninist terrorist organization), American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee; Dawud Walid, Council American Islamic Relations; Nabih Ayad, Michigan Civil Rights Commission; Ron Scott, Detroit Coalition Against Police Brutality; Osama Siblani, Arab American News; Shannon Minter, National Center for Lesbian Rights and Cynthia Soohoo, Center for Reproductive Rights, among others."

Hagmann adds: "SB 1070 has... now been moved to an international venue and potential international oversight by the United Nations. The stakes for our national sovereignty have been just raised by the submission of this document, which is the first step of 'voluntary compliance' to the provisions of the United Nations’ Human Rights Council."

Internet blogger Ben Johnson perhaps put what is happening before our very eyes in its proper context: "When the Left cannot win at the ballot box... it overrules the people in the courts. Now that Obama is not sure he can prevail in the courts, he has overruled the American people by hauling Arizona and the two-thirds of Americans who support its law before the United Nations."

OBAMA COMPLIES WITH AGENDA 21 AND EXPANDS FEDERAL POWER

Posted: 07/31/10

Obama complies with Agenda 21 and expands federal power

By Henry Lamb
Listen here

President Obama's Executive Order 13547 issued July 19, further extends federal power, embraces global governance, diminishes the rights and privileges of individuals, and brings the United States into compliance with Agenda 21, Chapter 17.6, which says:

"Each coastal State should consider establishing, or where necessary strengthening, appropriate coordinating mechanisms (such as a high-level policy planning body) for integrated management and sustainable development of coastal and marine areas…."

The National Ocean Council created by the Executive Order creates this mechanism - and much more.

The genius of the American system of governance created by the U.S. Constitution is the delicate balance of power between the federal government, state and local governments, and the people. The founders recognized the people as the source of power; the people came first. It was the people who organized states. The states created a federal government and through the Constitution, limited the power of the new government to those specific powers set forth in Article 1, Section 8. All unspecified powers were explicitly retained by the states or the people.

In the first 200 years, the United States of America produced greater wealth and prosperity than the rest of the world had produced in 2000 years. Why? Because individuals were free to pursue their own individual happiness.

Throughout its entire history, however, there have been those who believe that government is, or should be, the source of power; that the people are, or should be, subjects of the state. Since the 1970s, these people have used "environmental protection" as an excuse to expand the power of government. They argued that free people, in their pursuit of personal happiness, were polluting the environment. Therefore, government had to restrain free people in order to save the earth.

Their arguments prevailed in Congress, in the schools, and throughout society. The result has been ever- expanding government power that continually diminishes individual freedom, which results in less investment in the pursuit of individual happiness and a gradual slowdown in the growth of prosperity for everyone.

Once, Americans could do whatever they could conceive, restrained only by the possible consequences of infringing their neighbors' right to do the same. Now, Americans must get permission from multiple layers of government to do anything that produces income, pay multiple taxes on whatever income is generated, and comply with expensive regulations that govern every activity that might be pursued. Consequently, the individual entrepreneurial spirit is steadily being replaced by the ever-expanding reach of government's ambition to manage society.

President Obama's most recent Executive Order is another example of government's ever-expanding reach. First, Obama created an Interagency Ocean Policy Task Force in June of 2009. This group worked a year to produce a report that recommends how government can better protect the environment relating to the oceans and the Great Lakes. The Executive Order essentially adopts the recommendations in the report as national policy, and creates a new bureaucracy called the National Ocean Council to implement all the recommendations in the report.

The two most egregious recommendations are: controlling activities on land that affects the ocean, and ratification of the Convention on the Law of the Sea.

Before America became a nanny- state subject to the tyrannical decrees of the federal government, people were subject to laws that forced polluters to make whole anyone who was harmed. People who used their own property in the pursuit of their own individual happiness who inadvertently, through negligence, or deliberately polluted water that harmed a neighbor could be brought to court and forced to pay damages.

Now, the federal government ignores private property rights by requiring government approval of any proposed use of private property, payment of fees for the privilege, and payment of penalties for any infraction of a myriad of rules that govern the activities that government may allow.

The trampling of private property rights is not as bad, however, as the subjugation that would result from the ratification of the Convention on the Law of the Sea. This treaty was rejected by Ronald Reagan in 1982. Despite the so-called improvements to the treaty boasted by the Clinton administration, the U.S. Senate rejected it in 2000. President Bush tried to have it ratified, but the Senate rejected it again in 2004. Now Obama is trying again to force this horrible treaty down America's throat.

This treaty would give the U.N. power to regulate activity within our territorial seas (Article 2, (3)); it would give the U.N. the power to levy taxes in the form of application fees ($250,000) and royalties; it provides no benefits that the United States does not already enjoy. Yet, the Obama administration has set up this new National Ocean Council to convince the Senate to ratify the treaty.

This treaty is another expansion of global governance, which is defined by the U.N. to be that "framework of rules, institutions, and practices that limits the behavior of individuals, organizations, and companies" (U.N. Development Report, 1999, p. 34).

Obama's expansion of government is taking the nation in the wrong direction. The federal government should be reduced in size, scope, and function. The federal government should be pushed back inside the bottle of those limited powers defined in Article 1 Section 8 of the U.S. Constitution. States and individuals should reclaim the power given to them by the Constitution and guaranteed by the 10th Amendment. No elected official – including President Obama – is immune to the power of the ballot box. Those in power who support Obama's brand of foolishness should be forced to find a new career path next November.

Agenda 21 Plus 20

John's on vacation this week so it's a good time for a round table.

We've haven't done one of those in a while.

Almost 20 years have elapsed since the United Nations Conference on Environment and

Development (UNCED) in Rio de Janeiro in 1992.

The treaties from that conference were rejected for ratification by the U.S. senate, notably

because Agenda 21 is extremely hostile to the private ownership of property, flying in the

face of our constitution. Nevertheless, despite a lack of ratification, Agenda 21 was implemented

at the national, state, and local levels these last two decades. Why so? It's another end-run around

the system that's transforming government

in this country.

Henry Lamb (www.freedom21.org), Carl Teichrib (www.forcingchange.org),

Pat Wood (www.augustreview.com) and Mitch Wright join us for a spirited

conversation.

Since John's playing hooky, no boralogue today.
