Scapegoating Israel and Jews

Laura: According to liberal opinion makers, the reason muslims murder Americans along with each other, and wage jihad from the Middle East to Africa to the Indian subcontinent and around the globe, is the fault of the Jews.  It simply would never occur to them that it has anything to do with the muslims own ideological beliefs as stated in the koran. To acknowledge that fact would mean acknowledging that there is something inherently evil about islam, and that is simply taboo amongst the multicultural elite.  So they blame the existence of Israel. As the west becomes increasingly terrified and impotent in the face of islamic aggression, there will be an upsurge in scapegoating of the Jews and Israel.  These are very dangerous and false views that are being spread by apologists for islam. The left is guilty of instigating anti-Semitism worldwide.

Why Israeli-Palestinian peace will be difficult to achieve
by Alan Dershowitz

Despite earnest efforts by American President Obama, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and Palestinian President Abbas, it will be extremely difficult for a final peaceful resolution to be achieved between Israel and the Palestinians in the near future. The major obstacle to peace is the international community led by the United Nations. The international community has emboldened Arab leaders into believing that Israel can be delegitimated and weakened through international pressure, and that if the Palestinians hold out long enough, they can achieve their ultimate goal: Namely to end Israel’s existence as a Jewish state accepted by the international community.

This was made plain by a statement issued this week from Damascus and signed not only by Hamas but by several secular...

al Qaeda Under New American Management

al-Qaida Now Poses Inner Threat

By PAUL SPERRY, IDB

If al-Qaida looks and sounds different as we approach 9/11′s ninth anniversary, it’s because it’s under new American management. No fewer than four U.S. citizens and a permanent U.S. resident have risen to senior leadership posts.

These five English-speaking leaders are actively planning or facilitating attacks against their countrymen, while recruiting and radicalizing other American turncoats to carry them out.

By remaking itself into an American enterprise, al-Qaida is now more lethal than ever. Its new generation of leaders understands the way America works, having lived here for decades. They have a better sense of our security blind spots. They also know which kinds of attacks will produce both mass panic and maximum economic damage.

Al-Qaida’s indigenous rebirth, moreover, befogs our military strategy. We’re no longer at war with just a foreign enemy, but fellow Americans recruited...

Gaza Disengagement. Continuing the debate

A former officer weighs in.

Regarding Gaza;
I have extensive first hand experience there both as a soldier and as a frequent visitor.

Follows a simple recounting of what I know.

The military personnel now serving the perimeter and posted at crossings and assigned to nearby community security details, sea and air operations are roughly in the division range. General Gallant was in charge of the GAZA Division.

About the same number of soldiers as before the disastrous self serving strategic blunder by Sharon and his ilk.

Presently at least a squadron of AH-64′s and a number of F-16′s are dedicated to the sector.

In the past those services were limited if at all used.

The number of drones in service there is substantial.

The motorized units at least double in number those in place while Gush Katif existed.

At that time the Gaza threat was considered tactical at military level.
Today is strategic and tactical.

Many of the multiple casualties encounters during...

The Labour Party

By Ted Belman

I attended a talk by MK Dr Einat Wilf, the youngest member of the Labour Party. She was born and raised in Israel, served as an Intelligence Officer in the IDF and holds a B.A. in Government from Harvard Univ., a MBA from INSEAD in France and a PhD in Political Science from Cambridge. Somehow she found time to author two books, My Israel; My Generation, and Back to Basics; How to Save Israeli Education.

She was as impressive a speaker as her credentials would suggest. Going from memory (Jeez I should take notes) she made the following points.

1. She wasn’t worried about the predominance of left wing professors or what they do in there private lives. As long as they are good teachers and make their pupils think, she’s OK with that. She also was OK with the use of texbooks which the whole world uses rather than texbooks truer to the Israeli narrative. I challenged her on this arguing that if 95% of the profs are far left how can she believe that the students...

The Case against Obama

David Sojway in his new article, Solving the Obama Problem, lists Obama’s screw-ups,

    •his uncontrolled spending leading to the tripling [11] of the deficit he claims to have inherited;
    •his puerile blaming of the previous administration for his own inadequacies;
    •his evident playing of the “race card,” giving the lie to his supposed “post racial” presidency (e.g., the Gates episode; the New Black Panther voting scandal, his administration’s reaction to the popular Tea Party movement);
    •his forcing massive, unread bills through Congress against the wishes of the majority of the American people;

    •his manifold broken promises (e.g., closing Guantánamo, reducing unemployment to 8%, banning lobbyists, and innumerable others [12]);
    •his egregious mishandling of the Gulf oil spill;
    •his egregious mishandling of the Israeli/Palestinian imbroglio;
    •his egregious mishandling of the Afghanistan war;
    •his betrayal of...

Min Landau: If No Jews in Yesha, No Arabs in Israel

In a radio interview on Monday, Infrastructure Minister Uzi Landau slammed calls for extending sanctions on Jewish building in Judea and Samaria and said that if the PA is allowed to transfer Jews who make up 10% of the population of Judea and Samaria then Israel should be allowed to transfer the Arabs who make up 20% of the population of Israel.

Jews are becoming conservatives

By Ted Belman

Ed Lasky, American Thinker, comments on the NYT article by Charles Blow who attributed the departure of Jews from the Democratic Party to Obama’s treatment of Israel.

His article is entitled Why Jews are Deserting Obama and the Democrats. He rightly points out that Jews are not only concerned about Israel, they are also concerned about their pocket books and so are leaving the party because of Obama’s domestic policies.

I believe that liberal policies to which the Jews have been partial, are now under attack causing everyone, Jews included to reconsider their attachment. When Jews came to America 120 years ago they were interested in liberal policies because they wanted change. They succeeded.

Now they are becoming more interested in conserving what they have acheived rather than in transformational change.
