60 Minutes Surrenders to Radical Islam

Perfidy.

America's acclaimed 60 Minutes news magazine-style TV program (the show that started the genre) has surrendered to radical Islam. Sunday night's edition featured two subversive segments that bordered on treason for those who believe that the United States and the civilized world are engaged in a global conflict with the clerical fascist creed that attached the U.S. on 9/11--the worst-ever attacks on U.S. soil.

A disturbing segment on Afghanistan, objectively aimed at undermining morale among civilians and troops alike, was followed by what was essentially a long-form video news release for the promoters of the Ground Zero mosque. In the latter piece (of propaganda), a leading but by no means the only critic of the odious project was singled out for one-sided, on-camera abuse.

Kimist Succession Seems Set for Tuesday

The criminally insane, nuclear-armed North Korean regime is reportedly ready to announce that Kim Jong Un will succeed his father, Kim Jong Il as dictator of the secretive, Stalinist state--a Chinese vassal so sealed off from the rest of the world that the CIA and other Western intelligence agencies admit that they still see the place as a "black box."

Click here to read all about the bizarre developments, bearing in mind that South Korea is a democracy and that the approximately 28,000 U.S. troops stationed there are well within range of North Korean weaponry.

AJC Applauds ThyssenKrupp Iran Pullout

Jewish Group Says German Steel Giant Did the Right Thing, Urges Government to Close European-Iranian Trade Bank

The American Jewish Committee (AJC) praised the German steel conglomerate ThyssenKrupp for announcing that it will prohibit all new business with Iran. A company spokesman said it is acting in support of German, EU and U.S. trade sanctions against Tehran, which has defied four UN Security Council resolutions demanding transparency over its nuclear program.

"ThyssenKrupp's decision to withdraw from Iran is commendable," said Deidre Berger, Director of AJC's Berlin Office. "It demonstrates growing corporate awareness that it does not pay to do business with Iran as long as it continues to pursue nuclear weapons and promote terrorism."

ThyssenKrupp is the sixth German corporation this year to announce an end to business with Iran. The other five were Siemens, Daimler, Muenchener Rueck, Allianz, and Linde.

Overall Trade Continues To Rise

But the trend by major German corporations to stop new business with Iran has not yet affected overall trade. New German government statistics reveal that Germany exported 14 percent more goods to Iran in the first half of 2010 compared to the previous year, with July figures at a similarly high level.

"Bureaucratic delays cannot be allowed to block the urgent implementation of sanctions," Berger said. "We also urge the German government to respond favorably to the American request to shut down the Hamburg headquarters of the European-Iranian trade bank (EIH), which has played a major role in assisting Iran's nuclear ambitions."

Earlier this month, Stuart Levey, U.S. Under Secretary for Terrorism and Financial Intelligence, said: "As one of Iran's few remaining access points to the European financial system, EIH has facilitated a tremendous volume of transactions for Iranian banks previously blacklisted for proliferation."

Defending Jewish Communities Since 1906

Established in 1906 by a small group of American Jews who were deeply concerned about pogroms aimed at Russian Jews, AJC has grown into a New York-based global advocacy group with regional offices and affiliates across the U.S. and overseas.

AJC's mission is to enhance the well being of Israel and the Jewish people worldwide, and to advance human rights and democratic values in the United States and around the world.
