Two major landmarks were passed last week. One was the eighteenth anniversary of what was first called Black Wednesday, when the pound fell out of the ERM. The other was the second anniversary of the collapse of Lehman Bros, when the world was seemingly thrust towards financial disaster. Clearly, September is a dangerous month. This one has passed without incident – so far.
