by Hillel FendelSpeaking at the opening session at the Inter-Disciplinary Institute, former IDF Chief of Staff Lt.-Gen. (ret.) Moshe Yaalon, currently a senior Cabinet minister in the Netanyahu government, said that the world community is allowing terrorist organizations to establish themselves, overlooking the fact that surrendering to terrorism invites more terrorism.
Other participants were former Mossad chief Shabtai Shavit, ICT head Dr. Boaz Ganor, Inter-Disciplinary Institute president Prof. Uriel Reichman, and U.S. Ambassador to Israel James Cunningham.
Israel’s current policy of seeking peace with its neighbors will preventing its enemies from getting stronger is a good one [Freeman Note: If we weren't laughing so hard, we would be crying.
], Yaalon said. “In recent years,” he added, “we have seen the Hizbullah and Hamas terrorist organizations get stronger, partly because they have become more established and more involved in the political and diplomatic networks in the areas in which they are in charge. They have para-military frameworks, and their patrons Syria and Iran supply them with money, intelligence, training and weapons.”
Aiding Hamas and Hizbullah in their drives to arm, Yaalon said, is the fact that the international community is not taking steps to stop it.
Yaalon listed six principles that must lead the fight to stop international terrorism:
- Giving in to terrorism invites more terrorism. The best defense against anti-Israel terrorism is a good offense.
- Deep changes must take place in the PA society regarding education and institution-building as a prerequisite for peace.[Freeman Note: There will never be peace with babarians. It weakens Israel to even discuss it.]
3.Within Israel, social solidarity and recognition of the justness of Israel’s cause must be strengthened.
4, The campaign to de-legitimize Israel and cast every Israeli counter-terrorist action as a war crime must be fought.
5. Israel must be constantly on the alert, learning the changing situation in order to identify new opportunities to fight terrorism.
6. We must maximize our cooperation with our partners, including the moderate elements in the PA. [Freeman Note:There are no moderate elements in the terrorists PA]
