Reasons why so many Americans believe Barack Obama is a Muslim--a baker's dozen.
1. Obama has an Arabic name and a Muslim middle name, Hussein (the mere mention of which is ironically condemned as "racist" by an Obama-adoring liberal media). Most Arabs are Muslims; it is extremely rare for a non-Muslim to be named Hussein.
2. Obama's Kenyan father was a Muslim; and Islamic law traces religion through the father.
3. Obama was brought up and educated as a Muslim. His Indonesian stepfather was a Muslim. When Obama attended a Catholic school in Indonesia, the world's most populous (and increasingly intolerant) Muslim nation, he was registered as an Indonesian citizen (under the name "Barry Soetoro") and a "Muslim." In public school, he practiced and studied Islam; former classmates and teachers remember him as "quite religious." In an interview with the New York Times, he described the Muslim call to prayer as "one of the prettiest sounds on Earth at sunset." The Times reporter noted that Obama recited," with a first-class [Arabic] accent," the opening lines of the Muslim call to prayer.
4. Although Obama claims to have converted to Christianity (there is no record of a formal conversion), his former pastor and "spiritual mentor" is a proponent of Black Liberation Theology, which identifies with the Third World in general and Islam in particular (and philosophically divides humanity between victims and oppressors). The pastor's Chicago church, which Obama attended for 20 years, is known for its Islamist sympathies. It has, for example, republished and disseminated Hamas propaganda.
5. He was for many years a friend and admirer of Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.
6. He has made outreach to "the Muslim world"--and "engaging" (code for appeasing and attempting to actually align with) Islamist Iran the foundation of his (utterly failed) foreign policy. In this regard, he has endorsed and given currency to a whole host of Islamist lies, half-truths, and exaggerations--wildly inflating the size of the U.S. Muslim population, for example, and fabricating its historic importance and contributions--and has often quoted from "the Holy Koran," as opposed to, simply (and more appropriately for a U.S. President), the Koran. He has also opposed the French burqa ban and backed Islamizing Turkey's bid to join the European Union, even though the U.S. is not an EU member.
7. He seems practically obsessed with forcing Israel to withdraw to indefensible borders in order to make possible the creation of a so-called Palestinian state in Hamas-ruled Gaza and the disputed territories west of the Jordan river.
8. His administration has banned the use of such terms as Islamism, Islamist, and radical Islam in connection with the war against Islamist terrorism, and has promoted the myth that poverty and injustice are "root causes" of Islamist terrorism (which inevitably leads to the notion that people who behead and blow up other people and fly airplanes into skyscrapers in the name of Islam have "legitimate grievances").
9. He has spoken out in support of the Ground Zero mosque, which most Americans oppose.
10. He physically bowed to the Saudi King--from the waist, deeply and submissively--a precedent-shattering act for a U.S. President that is offensive to most Americans (and to many foreign friends of America) and conjures up the image of a Muslim servant.
11. Obama's academic records, from kindergarten through college and law school, are mysteriously, inexplicably sealed, giving rise to speculation that as a young man he exploited an identification with Islam and possibly also with Indonesia (as a dual national) in order to qualify for and obtain financial assistance and other benefits.
12. Muslims all over the world--especially in the Middle East--consider him a Muslim.
13. He has a cousin in Kenya--the present prime minister, for whom Obama once campaigned--who is politically aligned with Islamists seeking to impose Islamic law (sharia) on the African country.
COMMENT: Burqa bans in France and the Netherlands would appear to put the United States squarely on the Islamist side. U.S. President Barack Obama backed burqa-wearing when he visited Europe. Obama (who supports the Ground Zero mosque project) has also backed the crypto-Islamist Turkish government's bid to join the EU, even though the U.S. is not an EU member and has no standing in the organization.
What the U.S. under Obama has banned are words--Islamism and radical Islam, for example--in the context of the administration's (a) deliberate downgrading of the (misnamed) War on Terror to the level of an international law enforcement problem, (b) perfidious policy of appeasing and actually attempting to align with Islamist Iran and supposed "moderate" Islamists (meaning, oxymoronically, moderate clerical fascists) in Afghanistan and other countries, and (c) odious outreach to "the Muslim world"--a program that is by definition a concession to Islamist ideology. Islamists assert that the world's Muslims constitute a nation, united by the Koran (its constitution) to a degree that transcends all national differences and boundaries.

COMMENT: Clinton and other liberals effectively excuse terrorist acts by implying that they arise out of intolerable social conditions or intolerable oppression. This is known as the Theory of Legitimate Grievances. Never mind that the resistance movements in Nazi occupied Europe never deliberately attacked civilians, or that terrorists disproportionately come from the middle classes and not the poor. Today's terrorists, who present themselves as rebels and resistance movements, have been licensed by liberal politicians and media outlets to murder, maim, and menace innocents.
Understand, as President Obama likes to say, that behind the Theory of Legitimate Grievances is a hidden moral agenda. It is to persuade people that terrorism is really a social disease--a manmade disaster in the jargon of the Obama administration. Acceptance of this idea frees a society that is confronted with terrorism from having to assume the burden of moral, political, and military action.
