Terrorism and the British Academy


Just Journalism Executive Director Michael Weiss and Alexander Meleagrou-Hitchens, a Research Fellow at the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation, King's College, London, have published an article at The Weekly Standard on Islamic radicalisation on British university campuses.

One the problems that Britain has faced in trying waging a liberal intellectual campaign against radical Islam is that the British catechism of multiculturalism makes doing so all but impossible. BBC's Colin Tweedy comments on Israeli soldiers

Whilst commenting on Zoe Heller's novel The Believers for BBC Radio 4 program 'A Good Read', Chief Executive of Arts and Business Colin Tweedy expressed his delight at a comment made about Israeli soldiers killing Palestinian children.

Tweedy said, in relation to a conversation that takes place within The Believers, the story of a radical American Jewish family, a daughter of which undergoes a conversion to Orthodox Judaism:

"I also found it wonderful when Audrey in the park turns on her daughter when she the daughter says 'I'm going to Jerusalem'. She Audrey says 'What about Israeli soldiers shooting Palestinian children?' and Rosa has no answer, and she says 'Well what does your God think about that?', and I thought good on Audrey, one of the only times I thought good on Audrey"... New poll shows support for third intifada

A new poll today, released by the Harry S. Truman Research Institute for the Advancement of Peace at the Hebrew University and the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research in Ramallah, and quoted in the Jerusalem Post, has suggested that 41% of Palestinians would support the resumption of an intifada, should the current peace talks fail.

According to the poll, 78% of Israelis support a continuation of the peace talks, as opposed to just 30% of Palestinians. However, on the issue of the settlements, on 29% of Israelis support the idea of a settlement freeze, with 28% supporting unlimited construction in all settlements... Read more >>
