1.  Incompetent Traditional Media Propagandise False Claims On WikiLeaks Iraq War Information

Where do all these claims about WikiLeaks doing something on Iraq today (Monday) come from? A single tabloid blog at Wired Magazine! That's right. Over 700 articles, newspapers all over the world, and newswires fooled by a tabloid blog -- and each other. Of course you won't see this blog cited, generally, in the mainstream press articles, because that would lessen the credibility of these articles back to where they belong -- unsubstantiated, and indeed, false claims made by a source that is not credible. What is journalism coming to? But, Wired's blog is not just any source that lacks credibility. It is a known opponent and spreader of all sorts of misinformation about WikiLeaks. This dramatically ramped up since we demanded an investigation into what role they played in the arrest of the alleged journalistic source, US intelligence analyst, Bradley Manning. We condemned Wired magazine for that conduct and the magazine has been oppositional ever since. WikiLeaks does not speak about upcoming releases dates, indeed, with very rare exceptions we do not communicate any specific information about upcoming releases, since that simply provides fodder for abusive organizations to get their spin machines ready.

WikiLeaks Keynote Panel Announced For Oct 30 - Online News Association Conference

Washington D.C., October 18, 2010 — The Online News Association, the world’s largest membership organization of digital journalists, today announced a WikiLeaks keynote panel that will open the second day of its annual conference in Washington, D.C. The boundaries of digital journalism became Topic A on July 25, when WikiLeaks released a 92,000-page dump of classified documents relating to the U.S. involvement in the war in Afghanistan. Examining what this means for journalism and the role of the Internet in news and information will be Gavin MacFadyen, Director of the Centre for Investigative Journalism, USA TODAY military reporter Jim Michaels and Clothilde Le Coz, Director of Reporters Without Borders. The discussion will be moderated by WNYC’s Brooke Gladstone, co-host and Managing Editor of “On the Media.” The WikiLeaks panel will take the stage on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Sweden Thwarts WikiLeaks Press Freedom Plan

Wikileaks founder Julian Assange has been denied in his bid for a Swedish residency permit, part of the Australian's effort to gain protection for the whistleblower site under Sweden's press freedom laws. On August 18, Assange applied to live and work in Sweden, where Wikileaks maintains some of its servers, and on Monday, his application was denied by Sweden's migration board, according to the AP. He has three weeks to appeal. Wikileaks is applying for a Swedish publishing certificate that would protect the site under the country's press freedom laws. If Assange can't obtain a residency permit, someone else would have to serve as the site's official publisher in the country. The Swedish immigration authority declined to provide a reason for the denial of Assange's application, saying the reason is confidential. It's unclear whether the decision is related to ongoing investigations into allegations of sexual misconduct against Assange. The claims were re vealed in late August, not long after the Pentagon demanded that Wikileaks return roughly 92,000 mostly classified documents related the US war in Afghanistan, and Assange later contended that the investigations could prevent his residency application from moving ahead.  Julian Assange previously commented: “As I have said before, there was clearly a smear campaign, and who was behind this, we do not know. Now, whether that turns out to be a smear campaign done by a couple of people for personal motives or ideological motives, or that is larger and involves geopolitical concerns, or whether it is a mixture of all those, we do not know.”

Dollars For Docs - What Drug Companies Are Paying Your Doctor

Drug companies have long kept secret details of the payments they make to doctors for promoting their drugs. But seven companies have begun posting names and compensation on the Web, some as the result of legal settlements. ProPublica compiled these disclosures, totalling $258 million, into a single database that allows patients to search for their doctor. Hundreds of doctors paid by pharmaceutical companies to promote their drugs have been accused of professional misconduct, were disciplined by state boards or lacked credentials as researchers or specialists, ProPublica has found. 384 doctors and other health providers have received at least $100,000 from drug companies in 2009 and early 2010, according to our research. One Click Note: This excellent initiative from ProPublica is MUST READ eye opener data. Take a good look at their website and learn.

The British Criminal Ruling Classes Exposed

Such are their number it is getting difficult for Guido to keep track of all the politicians who are either under investigation, currently facing charges or are  actually in the dock as defendants. Such are their number in the UK it is getting difficult for Guido to keep track of all the politicians who are either under investigation, currently facing charges or are  actually in the dock as defendants. It is worth bearing in mind that 52% of MPs in the last parliament were found to be guilty of over-claiming – the vast majority of whom paid-up quietly in an admission of guilt. Some of the worst cases have finally made it to the courts, former Labour MPs Jim Devine (reported to the police incidentally by the Sunlight Centre), Elliot Morley and David Chaytor are trying to avoid criminal trials and are currently in the Supreme Court arguing that they are above common criminals and should be tried by MPs. Don’t think so… Sitting L abour MP Eric Isslley is facing charges. Labour MPs confirmed to be under police investigation include Denis MacShane and the former MP Margaret Moran. Reported to the police we have Sadiq Khan, who has been reported on the exactly the same expense-fiddling grounds as Margaret Moran. Ironically he is a Shadow Justice Minister. Tory Lord Hanningfield is facing trial but Lords Paul and Bhaita as well as Baroness Uddin have escaped prosecution by promising repayment. LibDem MP David Laws is awaiting the report of the Committee on Standards and Privileges with regard to him having the taxpayer pay rent to his boyfriend. The Committee has ordered former Labour MP Shahid Malik to repay his claim for the cost of insuring his wife’s diamond ring. No, really. Bill “Piggy” Wiggin was ordered to apologise and repay £4,009 of expenses for which he claimed but did not actually incur. Forgot Tory Lord Taylor of Warwick is pleading not guilty to six charges of dodgy accounting. Has Guido missed any politicians under investigation or in the Courts?
