'UK dignitaries pulled out of Friday's parade marking Nigeria's 50th anniversary, which was targeted by explosions that killed 12 people. The Queen's representative had been due to attend but did not and ex-PM Gordon Brown cancelled his visit.
The pullouts have raised questions about how much the Nigerian authorities knew of impending attacks.'

'In case you missed it, since Monday an "Irish-related" attack on Britain has been "a strong possibility". At the same time, an al-Qaida attack is "highly likely" and "only a matter of time". This presumably means one will occur – though, since August 2006, when this alarmist language was first to put us on continuous alert, terrorism has been like mad flu disease, afflicting Whitehall but strangely absent from the nation at large.
I hesitate to tempt fate, but this dog's dinner of nouns and qualifiers cannot mean anything to the general public. Rather than describing a menace to the British state, the words are more a comment on English teaching in schools. They are verbal garbage, reflecting a habit of bureaucratic mind and relieving public services – airport security, railway guards, traffic police – of the need for courtesy. They just want to keep the public scared and paying taxes.'

'New revelations have surfaced that back up the early claims that dispersant was sprayed on the population. Multiple BP cleanup workers and residents have confirmed that they were indeed sprayed with Corexit. In early June we reported on the multiple calls we had received from concerned residents who were being hosed by dispersant yet most people just didn’t believe it. After four months of proof it has become an undeniable truth.
In a recent interview, Karen Hopkins described some very startling information that she had received from a family of BP clean up workers. A husband and wife, tired after working all day for the Vessel of Opportunity Program, went to sleep on their boat with the windows open and to their surprise awoke dripping wet. Not only were they soaked with Corexit, they had numerous health problems, including irritation and itching that turned to sores and what they call the BP cough. Karen reported that rather than cease, these problems continued to get worse.'

'Big brother has taken it to a new level, outfitting student Ids with tracking devices at Santa Fe Junior High and Santa Fe High School. Minus a few high profile shootings, schools are generally known as a safe environment for our children. Why then are these schools outfitted school ids with tracking devices that must be worn at all times?
Are our students going to school or prison? What is the threat that requires such drastic measures? How many more schools plan on implementing these Orwellian “security” measures?'

'The discovery of this medical experiment generated a series of official U.S. responses that can only be called political theater given how contrived they are. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton went on the record saying, "Although these events occurred more than 64 years ago, we are outraged that such reprehensible research could have occurred under the guise of public health... You know what all these actions have in common? An implied message that this experiment from the 1940's was somehow an aberrant mistake that never happens in America. They want you to believe this is just some lone researcher who went off his rocker and committed some atrocious crime in the name of medicine. But the reality is that Big Pharma and the U.S. government use innocent people in medical experiments every single day. This wasn't some bizarre, rare event. It was a reflection of the way the U.S. government has consistently conspired with the medical industry to test drugs on innocent victims and find out what happens.'

'It has become familiar sight in Stuttgart, Germany. Anti-riot police in dark-blue uniforms wearing helmets with visors, body armour and carrying batons and pepper sprays gathered in Stuggart’s main park last Thursday.
It was a familiar formation. A thousand police standing in lines in front of trucks with mounted water canons. But it was not the familiar opposition. School-children, the elderly, the well heeled had gathered among the oak trees.
They had come out in force to protest against plans to build an underground railway station at the cost of at least 7 billion euros.
