The undeniable Jewish state

By Jeff Jacoby

Is Israel a Jewish state?

Is the pope Catholic?

Nothing about Israel could be more self-evident than its Jewishness. As Poland is the national state of the Polish people and Japan is the national state of the Japanese people, so Israel is the national state of the Jewish people. The UN’s 1947 resolution on partitioning Palestine contains no fewer than 30 references to the “Jewish state” whose creation it was authorizing; 25 years earlier, the League of Nations had been similarly straightforward in mandating “the establishment in Palestine of a national home for the Jewish people.” When Israel came into existence on May 15, 1948, its Jewish identity was the first detail reported. The New York Times’s front-page story began: “The Jewish state, the world’s newest sovereignty, to be known as the State of Israel, came into being in Palestine at midnight upon termination of the British mandate.”

Today, half the...

Islam is a threat

* Oskar Freysinger: Is Islam a Threat?

I reported last week on the difficulties faced by Oskar Freysinger, the leader of the Swiss People’s Party, when he attempted to give a lecture in Brussels. Twice denied a private venue, he eventually gave his talk in the Flemish Parliament, thanks to the intervention of Vlaams Belang leader Filip Dewinter.

Mr. Freysinger gave his speech in French, and it has now been translated into English, thanks to the dedicated efforts of our French correspondent l’échappée belle. It is an excellent exposition of the extensive damage inflicted by mass Muslim immigration on the legal systems and national cultures of Europe.

Oskar Freysinger: Is Islam a threat?

Conference in Brussels October 9, 2010

To preface, allow me to note that at the end of this first decade of the 21st century, questions and debate have become a challenge in the EU.

First, the Diamant Conference Center in Schaerbeek closed its doors to me under pressure from...

If you support Israel, vote Republican

Israel and Congressional Democrats
by Daniel Pipes
National Review Online
October 19, 2010

http://www.danielpipes.org/8994/israel-congressional-democrats

How should American voters concerned with Israel’s welfare and security vote in the U.S. Congressional elections on Nov. 2?

This much is clear after almost two years of Democratic control over the executive and legislative branches of government: Democrats consistently support Israel and its government far less than do Republicans. Leaving Barack Obama aside for now (he’s not on the ballot), let’s focus on Congress and on voters.

An ad by the Republican Jewish Coalition point out weaker Democratic support for Israel.

Congress: The pattern of weak Democratic support began just a week after Inauguration Day 2009, right after the Israel-Hamas war, when 60 House Democrats (including such left-wingers as Dennis Kucinich, Barbara Lee, and Maxine Waters) and not a single Republican wrote the...

New Survey Indicates Large Oil Field Buried Under Negev Sand

Oh No, More Oil?

by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu

A new preliminary geological survey indicates 26 million barrels of recoverable oil—worth $2 billion—may be sitting underneath the sandy soil in the area of two kibbutzim in the Western Negev, near Gaza.

Energtek announced it has received a geological survey on the Nir-am—Sa’ad block, “identifying the potential for exploitable oil and natural gas reserves.” Its subsidiary Energtek Products has the exclusive license to explore and exploit the resources in the area.

The firm added, “Current estimates will need to be confirmed by additional studies. Additional seismic analysis, modeling and further verifications are required to compile more accurate data on the fields and to provide more accurate reports on actual recoverable reserves.”
Besides the estimates of oil at a depth of 2,000 meters, or approximately a mile and a quarter, the preliminary survey also reports an additional estimate of 12 million barrels of...

America is running scared.

By Ted Belman

I was in favour of America’s invasion of Iraq and was quite surprised when the oppressed Shiites were not appreciative. Increasing I began to feel it was a loser’s exercise. I thought the surge would offer only temporary respite. I gravitated to the position that the US must punish Iran for their meddling. But America under Bush and now Obama wasn’t prepared to take on Iran.

Spengler in his latest article, referring to the surge, Why not call it a ‘ Petraeus Village ‘? cuts to the chase.

The surge was a facade to hide massive failure,

Washington had a de facto agreement with Iran : do not make trouble in Iraq , and we will let you build up your nuclear capacity as well as your terrorist capabilities elsewhere.

The chairman of President Barack Obama’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Mike Mullen, admitted as much in a March 16, 2009 , interview with Charlie Rose: “What I worry about in terms of an attack on Iran is,...

Only Palin can save America

By Ted Belman

Guy Milliere, a frenchman, explains Why Europe is dead..

After acknowledging some last dying gasps he avers

Europe died because she has slipped toward socialism and the establishment of welfare states that gradually destroyed the spirit of enterprise and the will to compete… and because the slippage instilled a mentality of dependency and passivity. The Obama administration is not formally and explicitly socialist, but its members have set gears in motion that could lead to structures facilitating creation of a European-style welfare state. The health care reform signed into law a few months ago is but one of these gears.

Europe died because, in most European countries, redistribution systems are in place allowing more than half the population to pay no income tax and receive generous government benefits. This population segment is consequently always inclined to vote to raise taxes on the other segment, which makes victory nearly impossible for candidates...

Left-Wing Israeli Site Pours Cold Water on Obama’s ‘Process’

By DAvid Hornik, PAJAMAS MEDIA

“Stop the Peace Process.” That’s the name of an editorial that appeared this week on Walla!, the most popular of Israel’s indigenous Hebrew websites. What’s surprising is that Walla! is strongly left-leaning and was founded by Haaretz, Israel’s left-wing daily.

The editorial is quite interesting and worth quoting. “Israelis observe with total indifference,” it says,

the political process that Benjamin Netanyahu, Mahmoud Abbas, and Barack Obama are trying to sell them. The streets were supposed to be churning with political activity, pro and con. In the city squares the believers in the process were supposed to be angrily confronting the opponents. But the Israelis aren’t fools. Their sense of smell, which is sharp and sensitive after years of peace follies and piles of corpses, can well detect when a genuine political process is occurring and when it’s a matter of PR for an prime minister who pretends to be a statesman, a...

Why there is no peace in the Middle east……

Evelyn Gordon addresses the perpetual issue of linkage–the idea that resolving the Israel-Arab conflict will provide a level of not only peace but also stability to the Middle East. Daled Amos The real linkage is Americas disloyalty to her allies and the Arab belief that America will dump Israel like she has all her other allies. The Arabs are prepared to wait it out until that time. Obama has given them hope that , that time has come. Yamit

Linkage: Israel And–Vietnam

by Evelyn Gordon

the history of Islam provides a long, long list of Muslim vs. Muslim conflict–starting from the death of Mohammed and extending to modern times, as detailed by scholars such as Bernard Lewis and Rafael Patai.

Someone Is In Desperate Need Of A Lesson In Muslim History:… HERE

Gordon gives a recent example:

That version of linkage is clearly delusional. Just consider last month’s deadly bombing by Sunni extremists of a Shiite march in Pakistan. The march was one...

New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly calls jihad what it is: Terrorism

By Andrew L. Jaffee, netwmd.com

… Before the court hearing, New York Police Commissioner Raymond Kelly, visiting one of the synagogues, said all four “wanted to commit jihad”. …

BBC, 10/18/2010

FINALLYSome moral clarity about “jihad.” Why did Kelly say this? Because today:

Four men accused of plotting to bomb New York synagogues and fire missiles at aircraft have been described as “extremely violent men” by prosecutors. …

“This was a very tightly-controlled operation but these individuals did place bombs – or what they thought were bombs – right in front of the building in which we are standing and the temple a few blocks away,” Mr Kelly said. …

Mr Cromitie allegedly pointed out Jews in the street, saying “if he had a gun, he would shoot each one in the head”, according to the district attorney’s statement. …

ENOUGH IS ENOUGH. No beating...
