Not Ashamed

With just under four weeks to go until ‘Not Ashamed’ day, it’s exciting to see momentum building. Nearly 5000 people have signed the declaration but we expect that number to grow significantly in the coming days. Visit the website to watch Lord Carey and other leaders declare their support for the campaign. We’re preparing church packs to help you promote ‘Not Ashamed’ at church (DVD, posters and leaflets) – please get in touch if you’d like one. You can call the office on 020 7935 1488.

Choose Life - Action Alert

An Early Day Motion has been proposed by MP Therese Coffey calling on the Government to ‘give its full backing to mental health assessments for women presenting for abortion as well as the provision of professional counselling where mental health issues are identified; and further calls on the Government to make available information on the possible mental health risks to women of an induced abortion. ’The EDM can be viewedhere.

Please write to your MP’s asking them to support this EDM. You can find your MP here.

Choose Life - Parliamentary Debate

There’s been a debate in Parliament on 2 November about Informed Consent, moved by Nadine Dorries MP, who highlighted the urgent need for women to be given all of the information they needed prior to a potential abortion, including information related to its risks and the other options that may be available to pregnant women. The final sentence of the minister’s response suggested that she was sympathetic to the motion. TheComRes poll commissioned by ‘Choose Life’ was mentioned in the debate

Awake, Arise

Following the success of this year’s inaugural event, we’re planning a series of regional day conferences across the UK in 2011. The aim is to gather Christians together, give an overview of the ‘State of the Nation’ and to provide tools for engaging effectively on issues of concern at both the national and local level. If you or your church would be interested in hosting an event in your area or in finding out more, please contact us on 020 7935 1488 or at awakearise@ccfon.org.

Volunteers Urgently Needed

With our campaigns in full swing in the run-up to Christmas, we’d be delighted to hear from any supporters within easy travelling distance of our London office who might be happy to help with administrative and packaging tasks.
