Did the Secret Service Stand Down in Dallas?

Found on Wikipedia and YouTube: extremely disturbing evidence regarding the assassination of President John F. Kennedy--which took place 47 years ago, on November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas--specifically, Congressional findings and video images that support the assertion that the U.S. Secret Service stood down--abandoned the President--moments before he was shot while riding in an open-top limousine.
The agents interviewed by CNN say they had to jump off the car because it was about to head onto a highway at dangerously high speeds; the video and prior research refute this version.
In any event, the Secret Service is supposed to plan Presidential routes and visits with security as the highest priority--at no time, should he have been left unprotected--and the allegation that JFK ordered the men off his vehicle has been dismissed by other agents.
Wikipedia:
The House Select Committee on Assassinations concluded that although Oswald assassinated Kennedy, a conspiracy was probable. Among its findings, the HSCA noted that President Kennedy had not received adequate protection in Dallas, that the Secret Service possessed information that was not properly analyzed, investigated or used by the Secret Service in connection with the President's trip to Dallas, and finally that the Secret Service agents in the motorcade were inadequately prepared to protect the President from a sniper. Although widely disputed but possible, this lack of protection may have occurred because Kennedy himself had specifically asked that the Secret Service make itself discreet during the Dallas visit.
To dampen the theory that Kennedy told the Secret Service to "keep a low profile" in Dallas, footage was released to the general public (which can be viewed on YouTube) showing that two Secret Service agents were in fact originally on each side of the back of Kennedy's motorcade. The footage then shows the two Secret Service men being told by an unidentified, but apparently high-ranking person to leave the back of the vehicle. The footage also shows that the two Secret Service agents clearly did not want to leave the back of JFK's motorcade, were confused by their orders and were dismayed that they were demanded to abandon their posts. At no time does it appear that the assassinated president was the one to tell the men to leave, since the footage clearly shows JFK wasn't even looking in their direction at the time, let alone talking to them. President Kennedy appeared to have been unaware of the events going on behind him, based on the video.
