The Other Existential Threat

What must be understood is that the threat toIsrael is not that Iran will one day use the bomb. No, Iran merely needs to possess the bomb to undermine the central purpose of Israel’s existence—and in so doing, to reverse the dramatic change in the existential condition of the Jews that 62 years of Jewish sovereignty has wrought. The mere possession of a nuclear weapon by Iran would instantly restore Jews to the status quo ante before Jewish sovereignty, to a condition in which their futures would depend primarily on the choices their enemies—and not Jews themselves—make.

Daniel Gordis, ‘COMMENTARY’

In August, two pieces of news about Iran’s nuclear ambitions were revealed almost simultaneously. The first was that Iran had fired up its first nuclear reactor. The second, delivered in an ostentatious leak to the New York Times, was that the Obama administration had determined that Iran was at least a year away from a “dash” necessary to complete a working...

CAIR Pushes for Sharia in Oklahoma

by Bill Levinson

Oklahoma Is Sued Over Shariah Ban (Wall Street Journal) reports,

A Muslim activist in Oklahoma City filed a lawsuit Thursday challenging a voter-approved measure that bars Oklahoma state judges from considering Shariah, the Islamic religious code based on the Koran and the Prophet Mohammed’s teachings, in formulating rulings.

State Question 755, which passed Tuesday with 70% of the vote, declares “the legal precepts of other nations or cultures” off-limits to Oklahoma courts. “Specifically, the courts shall not consider international law or Sharia Law,” it reads.

This merely reinforces what is already the law and common sense: American courts must rule according to the laws of their states or the Federal government, and said laws must in turn conform to the U.S. Constitution. Americans are not subject to, for example, the laws of Third World garbage holes like Iran or Somalia, nor do Americans enjoy privileges (such as the right...

Senator Elect Rubio is coming to Israel next week

You Just Won The Senate Seat For Florida, Mr. Rubio! Now What are You Going to Do? . . . “I’m Going to Israel!”

B”H

Marco Rubio says he wants to take a “private trip” to Israel, and the press jumps on its “meaning.”

Interesting.

How about this for meaning: Israel is important, personally, to Marco Rubio.

It is important, personally, to most of the people who support her. This is not a politically correct position, this is not a savvy move, this is a personal and very profound feeling of connection to the Holiness and the history of the Land.

There is a reason that people have fought for 5,000 years over the land of Israel, and it doesn’t have anything to do with politics.

Have a beautiful trip, Senator-Elect Rubio! Enjoy yourself! Stop and have some falafel, go to the Shuk and buy some kitchy things to take home for your friends and family, climb Masada, float in the Dead Sea, and wonder if the very dust under your feet was the...

The Arab Lobby: The European Component

Don’t miss the companion piece The Arab Lobby; the American Component

by Steven J. Rosen, Middle East Quarterly

In the early 1980s, there was a palpable concern among staffers at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) of the looming rise of an Arab-American lobby aimed at challenging the pro-Israel community. The National Association of Arab-Americans (NAAA), founded in 1972, was at a high point, and in 1980, former U.S. senator James Abourezk established the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC). In 1985, James Zogby added the Arab American Institute. Some pundits predicted that AIPAC had finally met its match, and a few of AIPAC’s own top supporters were alarmed. The Arab-American lobby looked as if it was on an upward trajectory.

An Arab-American Lobby?

Hezbollah’s secretary general Hassan Nasrallah publicly admitted that without European Union aid and backing, “our funding moral, political, and material support will...

The US Midterm Elections and the Peace Process

Yes, the Congress Can, but Not Everything
Eran, Oded , INSS Insight No. 223,

The hammering of the Democrats in both houses of Congress in the November 2 elections presents a challenge to the leaders directly involved in the Israeli-Palestinian negotiations. President Obama will have to wrestle with dilemmas he faced before the elections, albeit with lesser intensity. In Washington lingo, President Obama is liable to become a lame duck whenever he seeks to advance initiatives that require the legislative process.

In terms of foreign policy, the president retains a relatively large amount of power, as not every foreign policy initiative is subject to legislation. Nonetheless, Congress has ways of expressing its opinion in decisions not requiring legislation, reflecting the “sense of Congress.” Moreover, even with a majority in both houses, every president must engage with Congress. A Congress that is militant and confrontational is liable to paralyze the president, even...

Who highjacked Islam

Who is Really Distorting Islam? by Sultan Knish

“All of us recognize that this great religion (Islam), in the hands of a few extremists, has been distorted.”

Barack Hussein Obama

“Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those are witless. Islam says: Kill all the unbelievers just as they would kill you all!”

Ayatollah Khomeini

While we now know that a young Obama rebelled against his mother and attended Koran classes, he clearly  didn’t attend nearly enough of them. Or the Harvard genius is back to playing dumb.

According to Obama, and so much of the political establishment, the Koran is being distorted by a “few extremists” somewhere who are trying to convince the billion peaceful Muslims, that it actually promotes violence. But first a few obvious questions.

How many exactly is a “few”? Are we talking about a few dozen, a few thousand, a few million? Naturally Obama and the Islam...

Palin v. Bernanke

A year ago I wrote The Palin Brand. In Jan ’10, Palin is framing the debate. “my common sense v your bullcrap” .and wrote “They will live to regret, if they don’t already, that they forced Palin to resign from her Governorship by harassing her with 15 ethics lawsuits thereby freeing her to go on the attack nationally. More than anyone else, she is responsible for the decline in the prospects, for not only Obamacare but for Obama’s presidency as well.. In March ’10, Palin is one of a kind In May ’10, Palin is on a Roll. I loved re-reading these articles. Hopefully you will too. Having said that, the NY Sun has outdone me.

Her Warning To the Fed Chairman Puts Her Out in Front on the Debate on the Dollar

Editorial of The New York Sun | November 8, 2010

One of the questions in respect of 2012 is how it has happened that the only major Republican figure, aside from Congressman Ron Paul, to stand up and be counted in respect of the dollar is Sarah Palin. She...

Sen Graham sees ‘confrontation’ with China, war with Iran

Netanyahu to Biden “Only credible Military threat will stop Iran

By Michel Comte (AFP)

HALIFAX, Canada — The United States faces a possible war with Iran to curb its nuclear ambitions and a “period of confrontation” with China over its currency, a top US lawmaker warned Saturday.

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said his fellow conservative, fresh from their historic elections romp this week, support “bold” action to deal with Iran.

If President Barack Obama “decides to be tough with Iran beyond sanctions, I think he is going to feel a lot of Republican support for the idea that we cannot let Iran develop a nuclear weapon,” he told the Halifax International Security Forum.

“The last thing America wants is another military conflict, but the last thing the world needs is a nuclear-armed Iran… Containment is off the table.”

The South Carolina Republican saw the United States going to war with the Islamic republic

The most amazing debate ever

Stephanie attended a debate in Cambridge last week, the proposition – ” Israel is a rogue state”. Gabriel Latner is the Cambridge University law student who was assigned by the Cambridge Union debating society to argue the affirmative side of the proposition. He used the opportunity to take on others on his side and argue in favour of Israel.

His conduct earned him a lifetime banning from the Cambridge Union. You might want to know that Lauren Booth was on the proposing side too – no surprise there then! I know its incredibly long, but just imagine the scene most of the room are obviously NOT Jewish and time and time again these debates will never go in our favour.

However Gabrielle won this for the opposing side. He received a standing ovation from the majority of the room, obviously not from Lauren Booth!! Please pass this on as it truly is an amazing speech from a young boy, 19 years of age, swigging from a hip flask for Dutch courage!!!

Why Israel...
