2. WikiLeaks Urges U.S. To Fully Examine Abuses
Julian Assange, WikiLeaks Editor-In-Chief

The founder of WikiLeaks called on the United States on Thursday to fully examine abuses by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and to halt its "aggressive investigation" into his whistle-blowing organisation. Julian Assange said WikiLeaks would release thousands of documents this year concerning not only the United States, but other countries including Russia and Lebanon. It has made public nearly 500,000 classified U.S. files on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, drawing ire from the Pentagon. Some U.S. secret documents contained accounts of Iraqi forces torturing Iraqi prisoners and the failure of the U.S. military to investigate those instances. "It is time the United States opened up instead of covering up. The United States is in grave danger of losing its way," Assange told a news conference in Geneva on the eve of an examination by the U.N. Human Rights Council of the overall U.S. record. The Obama administration has not announced any investigation into the abuses -- some of which occurred during its first year in office -- unlike Britain and Denmark, which have begun looking into their own troops' behaviour.

3. Fight For Iraqis Torture Inquiry Hits British High Court
Lawyers acting for more than 140 Iraqi civilians who allege they suffered torture and degrading treatment at the hands of British soldiers and interrogators go to the High Court today seeking a wide-ranging public inquiry. They will complain their ill-treatment occurred during the period from March 2003 to December 2008 in British-controlled detention facilities in Iraq. Their lawyers are challenging a refusal by the defence secretary, Liam Fox, to order the sort of investigation they say is necessary "to bring the full facts to light". The application for judicial review will be heard over three days by Lord Justice Richards and Mr Justice Silber. It comes in the wake of the Baha Mousa Inquiry, which is due to report in early 2011.

4. Full Pay Thug In Police Uniform Awarded Retrial
Pamela Somerville will meet Sgt Mark Andrews in court
Alleged police attack victim Pamela Somerville, the 59-year-old Colerne woman who a court heard was hurled into a police cell at in 2008, will have to give evidence in the retrial of Sergeant Mark Andrews. Ms Somerville is dreading having to re-live her ordeal in front of magistrates in 11 days time. Sgt Andrews, who is 6ft 3in, had been jailed on September 7 by Oxford Magistrates Court for six months – but he was released on full pay after he appealed against both conviction and sentence and was awarded a retrial. Ms Somerville, of Pinewood Way, in North Colerne, has been supported by her long-term partner John Bussell, who works as a rally driving instructor. Mr Bussell, 57, said: “Pam is in a bad way because she will have to give evidence at the trial and it is going to bring back everything for her. Obviously we can’t say too much at this stage until we get the trial out of the way but it’s going to be a tough time for Pam. We heard that even if he is sent back to prison he can appeal again so this could go on and on.” One Click Note: You need to watch the video - Police Officer Assaults Woman In Cell Causing Severe Injuries - to fully comprehend what this thug in police uniform did to this defenceless 59-year-old woman and how badly he injured her. This is an example of the brutal thugs that the British taxpayer funds. This video contains very disturbing images.

5. Vaccination Profiteers Gang Up on Hannah Bruesewitz In Supreme Court
The American Academy of Pediatrics announced the submission of an amicus brief to the US Supreme Court on July 30, 2010, “joined by 21 partnering health organizations,” in the vaccine injury case of Bruesewitz v Wyeth, to support the powerful vaccine maker against a lone family. Oral arguments in the case took place on October 12, 2010, but a final decision won’t be known for months. The most recent drug injury preemption case decided by the Court was also against Wyeth and the ruling came down in favor of plaintiff, Diane Levine. The Court took the Bruesewitz case to determine whether 18-year-old Hannah, disabled by injuries she received from Wyeth’s diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DPT) vaccine at 6-months-old in 1992, has the right to bring a lawsuit against Wyeth after the Vaccine Court, set up by the 1986 National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act, refused compensation even though she will require life-long care and her vaccine w as traced to a lot that had 65 adverse reactions including two deaths, 39 emergency room visits, and 6 hospitalizations. The legislative history suggests that all the stakeholders – Congress, parents, manufacturers and physicians – understood that victims preserved the right to take design defect claims to court, the June brief says. “Respondent and its amici appear to be trying to achieve through the judiciary what they failed to obtain through Congress." The fact that health care workers have an aversion to flu vaccines is likely the best testament to the lack of benefits and potential harms associated with vaccines including the inability to sue for compensation if injured. It only stands to reason that if vaccines worked so great this group would be the first in line to get them.

Dr David Southall will be attending his GMC Fitness to Practise Hearing that takes place from 23-30 November 2019. In December 2007 a Fitness to Practise Panel (PCC) found proved allegations that Dr David Patrick Southall, a consultant paediatrician, when informed by a child’s parents that they no longer wanted him to be involved in the child’s management, wrote to the referring doctor and copied the letter to another Consultant Paediatrician not involved in the child’s care without the consent of the child’s parents and that his actions were inappropriate and breached confidentiality. The Panel also found proved allegations that Dr Southall created or caused to be created and later moved to another hospital, a medical record relating to the child and other children which was not to be found elsewhere in the children’s hospital medical records, thereby damaging the integrity of the latter and causing them to be inaccessible t o others involved in the children’s medical care and that Dr Southall’s actions were not in the best interests of the children, were inappropriate and an abuse of his professional position.

7. Child Abductor Conspirator Penny Mellor Resigns From GMC Child Protection Group
(Logo & Pic Courtesy Of One Click)
The controversial parents’ advocate and campaigner Penny Mellor has stepped down from the General Medical Council’s expert group on child protection in the face of a High Court challenge to the GMC’s decision to recruit her to the group. Papers served on the GMC by the paediatrician David Southall argue that her inclusion in the group is “illegal, perverse, and unethical” and contrary to the public interest and the spirit of the Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act 2006. Mrs Mellor served a prison term in 2002 for conspiracy to abduct a child to Ireland to keep her out of the hands of social services, who wanted to take her into care. She was sentenced to two years in jail, reduced to 18 months on appeal, and served eight months. Mrs Mellor declined to speak to the BMJ.

8. What's Next For X (As In XMRV) For ME/CFS Patients?
It’s been over a year since researchers found the retrovirus XMRV in the blood of patients with chronic fatigue syndrome. Now many people are asking: What’s next for X? Debate over whether XMRV is linked to CFS and other diseases is still intense, mainly because some groups have found the virus in the blood of high percentages of people with the condition while others haven’t been able to find a single case. A paper published yesterday in the journal Viruses outlines the steps researchers should take in designing studies into whether XMRV is linked to CFS. Everyone agrees that coming to consensus on standards for these studies is critical. The paper was written by someone who knows what it takes to find XMRV — Ila Singh, a University of Utah scientist who last year published a paper reporting the discovery of XMRV in prostate-cancer patients. The guidance comes at an opportune moment. W. Ian Lipkin, the Columbia University-ba sed virus hunter tasked by the government with resolving some of the XMRV questions, is convening a meeting this week. Representatives from HHS and the academic and advocacy communities are in New York to develop a strategy for a study to determine whether XMRV is found at higher rates in CFS patients.
