LAHORE, PAKISTAN Around 250 hard-line Muslims have staged a demonstration warning Pakistan's president not to pardon a Christian woman sentenced to death for insulting Islam. The rally in the city of Lahore also defended the blasphemy law that critics say is often misused to persecute minorities. Wednesday's protest is a snapshot of emotions that have swirled around Asia Bibi -- the Christian woman whose case has prompted outrage from human rights groups and a personal appeal from Pope Benedict XVI for her release. The 45-year-old mother of five has said she was falsely accused by a group of Muslim women in a personal dispute. Bibi has been jailed in Punjab province since her arrest 18 months ago. A court sentenced her earlier in November to death by hanging.Thursday, November 25, 2010

North Korea will never abandon atomic arms; China will never abandon its ally.
There is no diplomatic solution to the problem of nuclear-armed North Korea.

Imagine Lebanon--and Gaza-with nuclear-tipped missiles. That's where all this is heading. Iran is closer and more determined than ever to develop nuclear weapons to match its long-range missiles, including ICBMs capable of striking the United States.
But the turbaned tyranny is not stupid. It is not likely to attack the U.S. directly. Rather, it plots and plans to use proxies--Hamas in Gaza and Hezbollah in Lebanon. The former already controls Gaza; the latter is poised to take over Lebanon. Both are bristling with missiles capable of reaching Greater Tel Aviv, Israel's main population center.
Gaza and Lebanon are Iran's forward bases against Israel.
But the U.S. is the initial target. It must be brought down--crippled--in Iran's evil eyes before the final conflict with the Jewish State, which the Shiite and Sunni Islamists have vowed to annihilate. Anonymous terrorist attacks--using seemingly civilian cargo vessels flying flags of convenience--are the likely tactics for removing the U.S. from the equation.
Not for nothing have Iran and North Korea test-fired missiles from freighters.
There is no known defense against a cargo ship-based ballistic missile attack on a U.S. coastal city. Nor is there any known defense against a sea-launched EMP attack on the U.S., which overnight would plunge the nation back into the 19th century ... without the resources and infrastructure of that time.
And ... there is no real deterrent ... give the mindset and appeasement policy of the current U.S. administration ... against an anonymous atomic attack of any kind on the U.S. homeland. Instead of automatic obliteration of suspect countries--Israel's presumed policy in the event of an "unsigned" WMD attack against it--Obama is more likely to respond to a mega-atrocity by appealing for calm, appointing a commission, promising to bring the perpetrators to justice, hoping for "healing," and quoting from "the Holy Koran."
