Cables Suggest Mideast Resists U.S. on Cutting Terrorists’ Cash

By ERIC LICHTBLAU and ERIC SCHMITT, New York Times

WASHINGTON — Nine years after the United States vowed to shut down the money pipeline that finances terrorism, senior Obama administration officials say they believe that many millions of dollars are flowing largely unimpeded to extremist groups worldwide, and they have grown frustrated by frequent resistance from allies in the Middle East, according to secret diplomatic dispatches.

The government cables, sent by Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton and senior State Department officials, catalog a long list of methods that American officials suspect terrorist financiers are using, from a brazen armed bank robbery in Yemen last year to kidnappings for ransom, drug proceeds in Afghanistan and annual religious pilgrimages to Mecca, where millions of riyals or other forms of currency change hands.

While American officials in their public statements have been relatively upbeat about their progress in disrupting terrorist financing,...

Austrian PM Ewald Stadler is an antisemite of the first order

Those of us who listened to the attack on the Turkish Ambassidor by PM Ewald Stader, should have held out applause. He’s just as likely to tell the Jews to F**k off.

An Austrian writes to inform

    Strange and somehow funny, that you see this guy making a good point. Normally this Mr. Stadler, whom I happen to know personally and who is a member of the extreme right in Austria , gives speeches talking about Jews ruling the world and Jews being behind all kinds of evil. Mr. Stadler is also one those people who feel that Auschwitz hasn’t happened like the history books describe it. In addition to that, he was one the men, just before the Iraq war started, who sided with Saddam Hussein against Israel and the US. Needless to say that he came back from Bagdad with a suitcase full of cash for the Austrian Freedom Party (Joerg Haider!!!!). So be careful with your applause.

We might have known.

Kushner’s excellent update on fire disaster

“Diminishing Flames”

With the help of the “supertanker” that dropped a combination of water and fire retardant on the Carmel fire during the night, it is hoped that the fire is now under control, although not yet completely out. After consulting with relevant officials, PM Netanyahu (who has stayed on top of the situation throughout) has decided to cancel the arrival of additional planes from international sources.

~~~~~~~~~~
At the end of this post I will provide ways in which you can donate to help with rehabilitation and restoration.
~~~~~~~~~~

Half of the Carmel Forest, which is managed by the Nature and Parks Authority, has been destroyed — a combination of natural growth and trees planted by the Jewish National Fund over the years. There has been a loss of thousands of trees that were over a hundred years old; the fire also destroyed shrubs that were unique to the area.

The bulk of the restoration work will fall now to JNF. Explained Eli...

The State of Israel’s controlled media: Terrorism?…What Terrorism?

Why is the government downplaying the terror aspect of the Fires? : News1 said that insurance companies were heartened by this news, because if they can prove in court that the fire was an act of terrorism, the state will pay the victims’ compensation instead of them. Money seems to head the list of reasons. Yamit

Press Low-Key on Wave of Arson by Israel’s Arabs

by Gil Ronen

Police and volunteers are manning checkpoints, lookouts and ambushes throughout Israel in an effort to combat a wave of terrorist arson by Arab citizens of Israel. While occasionally reporting some of the arson incidents, most news sources are playing them down considerably, while others cover them up completely.

The IDF has released video footage shot from an IAF aircraft, which shows a vehicle escaping from the scene of an arson attack on the Carmel Mountain. The conversation on the radio, in Hebrew, is between pilots and police. The...

The Prospects for Relations between India and Israel. Part 2

Part 1

Part 2. New Eastern Outlook

Economic cooperation. Indo-Israeli relations are not based on economic cooperation, although trade between the two countries has grown steadily since 1992. In 2008, for example, the bilateral trade volume amounted to $4 billion, and India became Israel’s third-largest trading partner in Asia. However, precious stones form the basis for trade between the two countries.

Economic ties in agriculture, science and technology have significantly expanded. Scientific and technological cooperation has primarily involved joint scientific research projects, especially in the fields of telecommunications and programming. Cooperation on outer space, which is strategically important to both countries, was expanding as early as the 1990s. Indian and Israeli companies and scientific research institutions established a number of joint enterprises in the field of agriculture, primarily in irrigation, distribution of water resources and crop production.

Israel’s Fate Hangs in the Balance

Is Benny Morris’s new Assessment Right?

By Ron Radosh, PYJAMAS MEDIA

The fate of Israel should be of concern not to just Jews and Israelis, but to everyone who lives in the United States. No one has made that point more powerfully than Pastor John C. Hagee at Restoration Weekend. You can find the video and text of his speech here [1].

Pastor Hagee’s effort in creating Christians United for Israel, which now has 500,000 members and is undoubtedly the most effective lobbying group on behalf of Israel in the country, speaks for itself. The good pastor knows that the West is in a war against radical Islam, and that the Jewish people are, as he puts it, “the canary in our coalmine.”

He goes on to say that “it is the Jewish State in particular that serves as the West’s warning system. America must wake up to the understanding that Iran fully intends to destroy the United States of America. When someone threatens to kill you, you should take it seriously. We must...

“Thorns in your side”

Yamit

    “And you shall drive out the inhabitants of the Land and you shall dwell in it. And if you do not drive out the inhabitants of the Land from before you and it will come to pass that those that you leave will be thorns in your eyes and thistles in your sides and they will harass you in the Land in which you dwell. But if ye will not drive out the inhabitants of the land from before you, then shall those that ye let remain of them be as thorns in your eyes, and as pricks in your sides, and they shall harass you in the land wherein ye dwell. And it shall come to pass, that as I thought to do unto them, so will I do unto you.” (Numbers 33:53-55).

The Real-Politik of Our Sages
“One way out given to the Canaanites was to accept Israel’s terms. No autonomy but then no intolerance either…. The second method was to leave…. This idea in itself is not new to Zionism. Israel Zangwill suggested it in 1920, the British put it forward in the Peel...

The American Honey Trap

By Moshe Feiglin

Did you hear what Obama is offering?

What?

F-35 Stealth Bombers!

And why do we need them?

Are you serious?

I’m entirely serious. Why do we need the American jets?

Have you forgotten that Israel is under an existential threat? That our neighbors seek to destroy us?

And what is the greatest threat?

Iran, of course!

And why haven’t we bombed Iran’s nuclear facilities with the American jets that we already have?

What do you think? That Israel can do whatever it wants? We have international pressure. Luckily, the Americans still stand by our side.

And what will they do if we bomb, nevertheless?

They will stop selling us spare parts for the planes.

They will stop selling spare parts for the planes that they have already supplied?

Yes. That is what the experts explain. We have not bombed Iran because if we do so, the Americans will not sell us the spare parts for their fighter jets.

So you are saying...

The Knish does his weekly roundup

The Leaking Roof and the Global Order

    What Wikileaks tell us is that the view of the world promoted by everyone from the State Department to Thomas Friedman does not represent reality. It’s a fantasy consensus developed by people who often know better, but refuse to say it except in confidential communiques. Because speaking the truth out loud would be “unhelpful” and embarrassing to the Muslim regimes whom they fear and whose favor they court.

The Wikileaks mess is a reminder that the enmity of the International Left did not die when the Soviet Union did. It sends the stark message that we have political enemies who are using the internet to organize their attacks in new and dangerous ways. From Soros to Assange to Chavez, the International Left is a highly active and dangerous foe, and it is working to aid Islamic terrorists.

But what the actual Wikileaks dump mainly reveals is that diplomacy is a farce, underneath which none of the countries much like...
