What Appeasement Has Wrought: N. Korea and Iran Ushering in a New Age of Unshared Nuclear Terror
America's Emerging Atomic Enemies Will
be Emboldened by 'SAD' Doctrine Instead
of Being Restrained by Cold War-Era MAD
The two rogue states have made their intentions clear--namely, to use nuclear warheads and bombs and long-range missiles and ICBMs (Intercontinental Ballistic Missiles) to challenge and defeat the United States, and, most probably, to actually destroy the country after or ahead of annihilating its strategic, Middle Eastern ally, Israel.
Barring regime change in Pyongyang and Tehran, the nightmarish, new era that is unfolding will make thoughtful observers long for the balance of terror that marked the Cold War-era competition and rivalry between the two great nuclear superpowers. Instead of the doctrine of Mutual Assured Destruction that guided and restrained the U.S. and the Soviet Union, a concept that could be called Separate Assured Destruction--unrestrained, asymmetric, atomic threats by related third-party nations, surrogates and proxies--will embolden the Axis of Evil to aim for outright victory over the U.S. and its allies.
North Korean ICBMs Aimed at Tel Aviv?
North Korean ICBMs pointed at Washington and Tel Aviv in order to deter the U.S. and Israel from attacking Iran ... or to force the physical dismantling of the Jewish State ... seemingly civilian Iranian ... or Venezuelan ... cargo ships, flying flags of convenience, armed with nuclear-tipped, ballistic missiles concealed in containerized launch pads, lurking offshore, prepared to attack U.S. coastal cities ... or to plunge the country back into the 19th century by wiping out the power grid and virtually all electronic devices and communication systems in a massive EMP attack ... smuggled suitcase bombs and warheads ... these are the things likely to come, the future that appeasement has practically guaranteed for ourselves and our children.
A world of endless nuclear terror and extortion, as enemies from Hamas to Hugo Chavez to domestic, radical Muslim maniacs, inspired by the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962 that guaranteed the long-term security of the Castro regime and the Palestinian/Ultra-Left airline hijackings and bombings of the late 1960s and '70s that overnight made creation of an irredentist, PLO ministate a global priority, will suddenly feel empowered to confront the U.S. and all of civilized humanity in ways never before imagined. The demands will come at dizzying speed: Free Palestine! Withdraw from South Korea! Reparations from Japan! Convert to Islam and accept Sharia Law! Round up the "Zionists!" Disarm!
What appeasement has wrought: living under the ... nuclear ... swords of Islamism and Stalinism.

GATES: NUCLEAR-ARMED N. KOREA ONLY 5 YRS FROM BEING ABLE TO HIT US SOIL WITH ICBM
COMMENT: Given that Pyongyang's partner in nuclear/missile crimes, Islamist Iran, is within five years of being able to produce nuclear weapons, according to the most optimistic, known, Israeli assessments, the news is jarring, to say the least. It defies reason that the United States and the so-called international community have allowed two of the world's worst rogues--regimes that are openly committed to overthrowing the world order--to advance to such an alarming degree. The term itself--international community--has lost all meaning. National security will soon suffer the same fate, assuming the Islamist and Stalinist/Kimist killers remain in control of their long-suffering nations.
