In New Audio Message, AQIM Leader Hails 'Uprising' in Tunisia and Algeria, Calls on Tunisians to Send Their Sons to Train with AQAP in Order to Fight 'The Decisive Battle Against the Jews and Crusaders'
On January 13, 2011, Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) leader Abu Mus'ab 'Abd Al-Wadud released two audio clips, produced by AQIM's media wing Al-Andalus and disseminated on various jihadi forums, in which he called on the Tunisians and Algerians, respectively, to escalate riots against their governments. The clips were released in light of fierce ongoing riots in Tunisia and recent riots in Algeria. 'Abd Al-Wadud called on the Tunisians to send their youth to join the ranks of his organization, where they could arm themselves and undergo military training. He added that those unable to join should carry out attacks on Western targets independently.
Following are the main points of the audio clips:
'Abd Al-Wadud praised the Tunisians for taking to the streets and standing up to their "tyrannical" government after suffering decades of oppression at its hands, and offered the jihadists' help in supporting the Tunisians' "uprising."

Interviewer: "As you know, the West wants to shift the woman away from her purity, her chastity, and the holiness that Islam bestows upon her, to Western life, to lesbianism, to 'How come women can't have multiple husbands?', to 'Why can't a woman enjoy sexual liberty before she get married?', to 'Why can't there be a focus on women, like in the West – so that women can be with women, without needing men, and men can be with men, without needing women?' Wael Ramadhan: "The [Roman] war against Cleopatra was Jewish in essence, and history repeats itself. The Romans had no territorial aspirations in Egypt in those days, and this is ignored by history and by many historians. The Romans were at war with the Parthians and the remnants of the Persian Empire, but they had no intention of waging war against Egypt."
