Forces, Tanks Stream to Capital Tunis

'Security forces and tanks have streamed to Tunisia's capital city, Tunis, as authorities try to quell mounting anti-government protests.

Security is tight in Tunisia's capital on Thursday, a day after clashes broke out between protesters and the police, the Los Angeles Times reported. Heavy troop presence has been reported in Tunis and security forces have been taking up positions at major intersections in the city.

Eleven people were reportedly killed in clashes across Tunisia on Wednesday.'

'US Meddling Triggered Lebanon Crisis'

“Following the resignation of the ministers, the cabinet of Saad Hariri has entered new crisis because based on the Lebanese Constitution withdrawal of 11 ministers mean the collapse of the cabinet,” Hanizadeh said.

He noted that the major difference between the pro-Western March 14 alliance led by Saad Hariri and the opposition March 8 coalition led by Michel Aoun is due to US President Barack Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton's efforts aimed at disarming Lebanon's Islamic resistance movement.

“On the other hand, the US is pursuing to name the Islamic resistance movement as the main suspect in killing of Rafiq Hariri and indict it by setting up the Special Tribunal for Lebanon,” he said.'

US State Considers Alternative to Dollar

'The Commonwealth of Virginia is planning to file a bill under which it would begin minting its own gold and silver coins as an alternative currency to the US dollar.

Virginia's Republican Delegate Bob Marshall, from Prince William County, was to ask the General Assembly to consider the idea on Wednesday when it convenes for its annual legislative session, The Washington Post reported.

It is a companion bill to a proposal Marshall has already filed to establish a study committee to examine alternative currencies to that distributed by the Federal Reserve System "in the event of a major breakdown of the Federal Reserve System".'
