There is a big kerfuffle at the moment as Latvia is making residency available to those
who buy houses. Many Russians are buying into the scheme which will then allow
free movement in the EU. I imagine the Russians would be interested in Iceland as it will
join soon, and so would a whole bunch of unsavoury characters looking for a second identity.
My first question is why do we need passports? It wasn't necessary before the first
World War. Schuman and the other Founding Fathers as well as Bevin discussed getting rid
of passports after WW2. There is a piece about it on my
schuman.info website.
Icleand has a great potential for selling electricity to the EU from its thermal power. It
would get the EU off the oil drug.

I had lunch with an American money manager (living in Switzerland) on Friday and we got to talking about the toxicity of the American passport and how there’s a three year waiting list in Switzerland for Americans to renounce their US citizenship.
The number of Americans handing in their passports is at record highs at embassies around the world. But to do so, you need another passport first.
Most people come by a second passport in countries that allow you to get one after living in the country for 4 or 5 years (Brazil and Belgium come to mind). But this is a big pain in the ass. The option of buying a passport is available in two Caribbean nations; Dominica and Nevis-St. Kitts, and the cost is $75,000 and $200,000 respectively.
Net, net, there seems to be a business opportunity here for a country looking to cash in on tens of thousands, possibly 100,000 or more (there are over 7 mn. millionaires in the USA keep in mind) to offer ‘economic citizenship’ for a reasonable price; let’s say, $20,000. Imagine if Iceland made this available.
This would be a cash infusion of 2 bn. dollars for every 100,000 passports sold, and what’s their downside? I can’t think of a single negative effect for Iceland.
Their country has already been ransacked by the global banking scum. They have no one to impress. The benefits to Iceland would be fantastic.
