Is Peace Possible in the Middle East?

Forget it. It’s not going to happen.
by David Solway, PAJAMAS MEDIA

The Middle East “peace process,” as in Macbeth’s great soliloquy, “creeps on this petty pace from day to day,” depleting its innumerable tomorrows and leading to nothing but misery and despair. It has only “lighted fools/The way to dusty death” and to failure after failure, being quite definitely “a tale/Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,/Signifying nothing.” Of course, the bitter and mephitic Scots laird is speaking of the futility of life while we, on the other hand, are considering the total senselessness of a quixotic and fugitive political enterprise that is heading nowhere except endless stalemate or renewed conflict.

Surely, it has become obvious by this time, after sixty-plus years of tractionless discussions and bloody confrontations, that the current negotiating paradigm of Israeli concessions for Palestinian recalcitrance, that is, land for no peace and a raft of...

Don’t Abandon The Golan

New efforts to force Israel to give away the Golan may be in the offing.

By David Isaac

“…they assigned Bezer in the wilderness upon the plain out of the tribe of Reuben, and Ramoth in Gilead out of the tribe of Gad, and Golan in Bashan out of the tribe of Manasseh.” – Joshua 20:8

In “Golan: More Than Geography” (The Jerusalem Post, March 5, 1993), Shmuel Katz wrote of then-U.S. Secretary of State Warren Christopher’s first visit to the Golan Heights.

He was taken on a study tour by helicopter and, apparently for the first time in his life, he was enabled to see the full extent of Israel within the “Green Line” and to assess the significance of the Golan Heights towering over Israel’s Galilean plain. Coming away from his tour, he immediately gave voice to a confession with clearly far-reaching implications. “There is no question,” he said, “that the geography complicates the matter, and changes the situation very...

Disband the Mideast Quartet

(While we’re at it we should abrogate The Roadmap and the Oslo Accords. T. Belman)

by Daniel Mandel, FrontPageMag

The Israeli-Palestinian so-called “peace process” has now ground to a halt, by the common admission of all the parties involved. In the words this week of an anonymous administration adviser, matters are “utterly stuck … there is no pretense of progress.” President Barack Obama’s tortuous, two-year long road to direct Israeli-Palestinian negotiations that collapsed shortly after the point of commencement only underscores the following: the Israeli/Palestinian issue has proceeded for years on the wrong track.

How did we arrive here? By following a flawed vision: the 2003 “Roadmap” peace plan.

And how will we get out? By, among other things, disbanding the group that devised it – the Middle East Quartet (European Union, Russia, the U.N. and the U.S.).

It is highly unusual for the U.S. to subordinate the formulation of U.S. policy to a...

Chris Christie’s Disturbing Ties

Laura: It is very disturbing that New Jersey governor Chris Christie has appointed terror supporting attorney Sohail Mohammed to a judgeship. Conservatives thought Christie was so courageous in standing up to the teacher’s union while all along he was pandering to the jihad lobby. Christie is exposed as a totally feckless and corrupt fraud. There is no way he should ever be considered a presidential candidate.

Governor Christie’s Dirty Islamist Ties

Daniel Greenfield, The Sultan Knish

New Jersey, the Garden State, has just taken its first step toward becoming the Sharia State, with Governor Christie’s nomination of Sohail Mohammed, an attorney to detained terrorist suspects, to a Superior Court judgeship in Passaic County. The Sohail nomination continues Christie’s unfortunate pandering to the American Muslim Union and the Islamic Center of Passaic County.

Passaic County has the second largest Muslim population in the country. And the Islamic Center of Passaic...

The Left goes crazy in opposition to legislation on funding

By Steven Plaut

You will be excused if you have not been following the debate over proposals to demand that sources of funding for political parties and activist groups be revealed.

In Ireland.
Curiously, it is the
Sinn Fein Party that is demanding that reform. Actually, this is not so unusual. Lots of democracies require disclosure of financial support from outside the country for political groups operating therein. Aside from Israel, I doubt any country at all has allowed funding from abroad for seditious groups supporting the enemies of their country in time of war.

What a difference between the debate in Ireland and the savage bloodcurdling hysterical blitz by the Israeli Left (now even being led by President Shimon Peres) against the proposals to investigate and expose funding for anti-Israel activist groups operating inside Israel.

The Israeli Left is putting war paint on and taking to the streets and to the newspapers. Over the weekend a demonstration by leftists...

Why aren’t Christians defending Christians in Muslim Countries

Confront the hypocrisy

Op-ed: Israel’s treatment of Christians slammed, while far worse Muslim attitude is ignored

Manfred Gerstenfeld,YNET

On New Year’s Eve there was a murderous attack on a Coptic Church in Alexandria, Egypt in which 23 Christians were killed and many dozens were wounded. Last week a Christian was shot on an Egyptian train and five others were wounded. The murders in Alexandria drew far more international interest than many other attacks on Copts in recent years. They also gained far more attention than other recent lethal attacks on Christians in countries such as Iraq, Pakistan or Nigeria.

One wonders whether this event might be a tipping point for the Western world. Are Western governments and Christians finally starting to interest themselves a bit more seriously regarding the fate of Christians in the Muslim world? If so, this took quite a long time. Back in 1994, Israeli Middle East expert Mordechai Abir had already summed up the Copts’...

Research: PA highly dependent on aid

[Yoram Ettinger: Since 1994, the highest per-capita-foreign-aid in the world has been provided – mostly by the US taxpayer - to the Palestinian Authority. Since 1994, there has been an unprecedented intensification of Palestinian anti-Semitic, anti-Israel and anti-US hate-education and incitement in PA-controlled schools, mosques and media, an all-time high PA non-compliance with commitments made to the US and Israel and an unparalleled expansion of Palestinian terrorism infrastructure and activity. Thus, foreign aid has not moderated the PA. Foreign aid has rewarded PA hate-education, non-compliance and terrorism. The following study documents that foreign aid has also been abused by the PA, enticing corruption and inefficient economy].

Study shows over 60% of Palestinian Authority’s GNP comes from US, EU, UN, World Bank. ‘Donations go toward entrenchment of government institutions instead of development of infrastructure, industry, human capital,’ say research...

National “Jewish” “Democratic” Council’s Blood Libels

National Jewish Democratic Council is about as Jewish as the Westboro Baptist Church is Christian
by Bill Levinson

Chutzpah: a man murders his parents and then asks the court for mercy because he is an orphan. Chutzpah certainly describes the National Jewish Democratic Council’s recent condemnation of Sarah Palin for calling accusations that she somehow incited the alleged crime of Jared Lee Loughner as blood libels. It is a matter of record that NJDC has itself posted material that could be used to incite hatred of Jews as well as a blood libel of the Christian computer game “Left Behind: Eternal Forces.” Here is what David A. Harris had to say about Palin:

Instead of dialing down the rhetoric at this difficult moment, Sarah Palin chose to accuse others trying to sort out the meaning of this tragedy of somehow engaging in a “blood libel” against her and others. This is of course a particularly heinous term for American Jews, given that the repeated fiction...
