From the Libertarian Alliance
Director's Bulletin
Monday 7th February 2011

Dear Harold,

Presidential Resignation

After five years of service, our President, Tim Evans, has decided to step
down. In his statement, Tim said:

"As Chief Executive of The Cobden Centre, a Consultant Director at the
Adam Smith Institute, Chairman of the Economic Policy Centre, Chairman of
Global Health Futures Ltd - not to mention concluding my studies for an
MBA - I have decided to refocus my workload. Wanting in particular to
spend more time with my family, I wish the LA and its supporters well for
the future. For me, libertarianism has always been at its best when it is
positive in outlook, methodologically individualist and it seeks to engage
and persuade people from many different backgrounds and outlooks. I wish
Dr. Sean Gabb, the Committee, and everyone else associated with the
organisation the very best for the future."

To this, I added:

"Tim has been an outstanding President. While I regret his decision to
step down, I do fully understand that his other commitments, together with
his duties as a husband and as a father, have made this decision
inevitable. I can now record my gratitude, and that of the Executive
Committee, that he was able to remain in his post during the past few
months. These months have been a critical time to the shaping of a new
strategy for the Libertarian Alliance that includes a much more active
publishing and outreach programme.

"On behalf of the whole Executive Committee of the Libertarian Alliance, I
wish him every success in his new endeavours."

One very significant period in the history of the Libertarian Alliance is
coming to an end. Another will now begin. The Libertarian Alliance will
continue with a full schedule of publications and conferences and other
events. In particular, please stand by for announcements about our new
website and the return of our traditional magazine, Free Life as an
interactive on-line journal.

In the next day or so, I will also announce details of the 2011 Chris R.
Tame Memorial Lecture at the National Liberal Club.

What would England and the world have been like in 1959 if there had been
no Second World War? For one possible answer, read Sean Gabb's new novel
"The Churchill Memorandum". If you like Bulldog Drummond and Biggles and
the early James Bond, this will be right up your street:
