Reports from Iran say Iranian-Dutch woman Zahra Bahrami was hanged on Saturday for selling and possessing drugs.
…Bahrami, a 46-year-old Iranian-born naturalised Dutch citizen, was reportedly arrested in December 2009 after joining a protest against the government while visiting relatives in the Islamic republic.

In recent weeks, America’s relationship with our ally, Israel, has come into focus once again. As the Obama administration has failed to coalesce around a coherent strategy with regards to recent protests in Egypt, the potential for a group like the Muslim Brotherhood to become involved in Egypt’s new government is particularly worrisome. To call the Muslim Brotherhood anti-Israel would be an understatement and to see them as a group without a religious/political agenda would be foolish, yet President Obama’s own Director of National Intelligence referred to the Muslim Brotherhood as “largely secular”. Additionally, our UN ambassador was poised to vote to rebuke of Israel for building settlements on the West Bank before vetoing such a proposal. However, Ambassador Rice stated that the veto should not be, ” seen as an endorsement of Israel’s settlement policies, which the Obama administration has repeatedly denounced”.

Survey shows Obama position at odds with most Americans

A new survey reveals literally hundreds of millions of Americans have a strong affinity for Israel and believe the U.S. should intervene if Israel is attacked by Iran.
The poll for WND by Wenzel Strategies also documents that Christians, especially those who describe themselves as born-again believers, largely hold stronger feelings regarding Israel than do Jews.
The poll, a telephone survey conducted Feb. 9-15 with a resulting margin of error of 3.37 percent, showed 3 in 4 Americans agree with the statement that “Israel is the No. 1 target for destruction of Islamic radicals in the Middle East.”

Cabinet Rejects Sovereignty on Jewish Towns of Judea, Samaria
No explanation is given for why the Cabinet Committee rejected it.
The Ministerial Committee for Legislation rejected Sunday a bill that would have placed the Jewish communities of Judea and Samaria under Israeli sovereignty. The bill would have removed the threat of “construction freezes” and similar steps from the communities in Judea and Samaria, by taking them out of the jurisdiction of the Defense Ministry.
The bill was sponsored by MK Yaakov Katz (Ketzaleh), Chairman of the National Union party. It was co-signed by all the other members of the NU, as well as 22 coalition MKs – including most of the Knesset’s Likud faction. However, the Committee’s rejection of the bill means that all coalition MKs are expected to vote against it when it comes up for a vote in the plenum Wednesday.

Jews lead list of US philanthropists
These are impecunious times for everyone, even America’s super-wealthy. The Chronicle of Philanthropy issued its annual survey of top donors in America for 2010, yet of the 50 billionaires that had promised to donate at least half their net worth to charities, few followed through.
However, Jews remained the top donors, comprising at least 19 of the individuals and couples named on the survey including five of the top six givers (three were tied).
Financier George Soros ranked No. 1 with $332 million donated in 2010, followed by New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg with $279.2 million. Irwin and Joan Jacobs, Eli and Edythe Broad, and Leonard Blavatnik took spots 4 through 6 respectively, with donations between $117 and $119.5 million.
Perhaps the biggest surprise was no.18 Charles E. Kaufman, who died in September at the age of 97, and bequeathed his entire $53.3 million fortune to charity. This was the first year that Kaufman appeared on the list.

Gaddafi’s son warns of civil war in Libya
After anti-government unrest spread to the Libyan capital of Tripoli and protesters seized military bases and weapons Sunday, Moammar Gaddafi’s son went on state television to proclaim that his father remained in charge with the army’s backing and would “fight until the last man, the last woman, the last bullet.”
Seif al-Islam Gaddafi, in the regime’s first comments on the six days of demonstrations, warned the protesters that they risked igniting a civil war in which Libya’s oil wealth “will be burned.”
The speech followed a fierce crackdown by security forces who fired on thousands of demonstrators and funeral marchers in the eastern city of Benghazi in a bloody cycle of violence that killed 60 people on Sunday alone, according to a doctor in one city hospital. Since the six days of unrest began, more than 200 people have been killed, according to medical officials, human rights groups and exiled dissidents.
