Child Tax Credits

Dear XXXXXB
Thank you for your letter dated 1st March enclosing Justine Greening's interesting reply dated 8th February.
Her reply fully justifies the Mayor of Calais' complaint that it is the UK's excessively generous benefit system
hat is causing him such problems with immigrants illegally camping around his port and city, in desperate attempts
to enjoy the honey-pot of UK hand-outs.
We learn when visiting our daughter who lives in France that, to obtain any benefits as an immigrant, you have to
jump through hoops and it doesn't matter how long it takes for you to supply the necessary data you will get no
benefits until the authorities are totally satisfied that your claim is justified.

In our country just imagine an mmigrant from one of the new Balkan EU states, with six children, able to obtain the
Child Tax Credits that the UK taxpayer is funding.
His family will then enjoy riches beyond Croesus in his Balkan village. In fact we do not need to go as far as the
Balkans, nearer home in this village, the only family owning a new registration car is on benefits, not having
worked since 1975, as he is too thick to be employable, but having taken advantage every tax credit available
including turning in his old heap of junk in for a £5,000 discount!
Our only hope is that Ian Duncan Smith will take a grip of this exploitation of taxpayers' money and totally
verhaul the system but it sounds from Justine Greening that IDS will fall foul of EU judgments, as is ever the case.

Regards,
