Decoding Libya

See also What Are We Doing in the Middle East? By David Warren

Sharia can tell us how this story ends.
Andrew C. McCarthy

Why are we fighting for the rebels in Libya?

For nearly 20 years, we’ve willfully blinded ourselves to the Rosetta Stone that decodes our enemy’s war doctrine. But the jihad (or shall we call it “kinetic Islam”?) is catalyzed not by al-Qaeda but by sharia — by Muslim law. So is the “Arab Spring,” now playing in Tripoli (and elsewhere) after rave reviews in Cairo.

I have been opposed to our country’s starting a war against Libya. And starting a war is exactly what we have done, exactly what we would call it if the shoe were on the other foot — the “kinetic” and “limited” obfuscations of intervention proponents notwithstanding. My opposition is fourfold.

First, as a constitutional matter, Congress has neither declared war nor otherwise authorized combat operations. When there has been no attack on the United States, no imminent...

Libya: What’s in it for the US

Do-gooders in a land with no good guys
By MARK STEYN

That’s great news. Who doesn’t enjoy volunteering other people? The Arab League, for reasons best known to itself, decided that Col. Gadhafi had outlived his sell-by date. Granted that the region’s squalid polities haven’t had a decent military commander since King Hussein fired General Sir John Glubb half-a-century back, how difficult could it be even for Arab armies to knock off a psychotic transvestite guarded by Austin Powers fembots? But no: Instead, the Arab League decided to volunteer the U.S. military.

Likewise, the French and the British. Libya’s special forces are trained by Britain’s SAS. Four years ago, President Sarkozy hosted a state visit for Col. Gadhafi, his personal security detail of 30 virgins, his favorite camel and a 400-strong entourage that helped pitch his tent in the heart of Paris. Given that London and Paris have the third- and fourth-biggest military budgets on the...

Wilders; The Failure of Multiculturalism and How to Turn the Tide

By Jerry Gordon, Iconoclast

Geert Wilders, leader of the Freedom Party (PVV) in the Hague parliament gave a speech in Rome last night at the Magna Carta Foundation-an Italian conservative think tank. The topic was timely, “The Failure of Multiculturalism and How to Turn the Tide”. The full text of his speech can be found on The Freedom Party (PVV) website.

Here are some excerpts that indicate the rising public approbation of the twin evils of Multiculturalism and islamization and what Wilders suggests to combat it.

On the dangers of multiculturalism:

I am here today to talk about multiculturalism. This term has a number of different meanings. I use the term to refer to a specific political ideology. It advocates that all cultures are equal. If they are equal it follows that the state is not allowed to promote any specific cultural values as central and dominant. In other words: multiculturalism holds that the state should not promote a

There’s no blaming Bush for Libya

By Sultan Knish

Obama’s Libyan adventure has thrown a confusing wrench into the gears of the liberal reelection machine. Up until then it had been a fairly straightforward campaign, with the media touting an imaginary economic recovery, blaming a Republican congress for obstructionism, flirting with a government shutdown and organizing a labor pushback against economic reforms. Maybe taking some credit for Cairo. Simple enough. But Libya complicates things.

The Nutroots already weren’t too happy about Iraq and Afghanistan, or Gitmo or the return of military trials. The left’s anti-war energy had already completely dissipated. But they could always close their eyes and blame Bush. But there’s no blaming Bush for Libya. For the war without congressional approval or a complete lack of planning, no exit strategy and unclear objectives. This is your War(TM) on Obama(TM).

Still wars boost the White House occupant’s numbers… at least temporarily....

Obama’s 2015 State of the Union Address

“The Statue of Tolerance.”
by Howard Rotberg, PAJAMAS MEDIA

“And now, turning to our policy towards the Middle East and the sweeping changes that have occurred there, I want to again pledge that while America is not willing, after Iraq, to ever again wage war in the Middle East, we are more than willing to assist in refugee resettlement.

“When Lebanon, Egypt, Jordan, and Syria experienced their Islamist revolutions, I clearly stated that the United States under my administration would respect Arab efforts at self-determination. Never again would the Western world take up the cause of colonialism as a screen for trying to enforce our values on those who do not want them. I pledged that we would respect a Muslim perspective on democracy that differed radically from our own.

“While the United States, given its history, adopted a constitutional democracy, I have always taken the position that we cannot force the rest of the world to act like us, and...

Don’t be stupid, Israel.

European countries want UN, not U.S., to advance Mideast peace talks

They want Israel to agree that the borders would be the ’67 lines with minor exchanges. ISRAEL SHOULD REJECT THIS OUT OF HAND.

Iron Dome missile defense system to be deployed next week. THIS IS IDIOCY. IT COSTS ISRAEL $200,000 TO RUN THIS SYSTEM FOR EVERY ROCKET LAUNCHED AGAINST US. HAMAS WILL SIMPLY LAUNCH 100 ROCKETS A DAY AT A COST TO ISRAEL OF $20 MILLION A DAY.

What is driving the bombing of Libya?

By Ted Belman

The administration and the UN justified the imposition of a no-fly zone on Libya as an humanitarian intervention. They knew full well that an innocuous sounding “no-fly zone” would start with a major boming campaign. McCain, Lieberman and Graham days before the bombing started were urging military intervention to avoid “a horrible blood bath”. Just last night on Fox News McCain was arguing that the casualties were over 10,000 and would go higher.

Dennis Ross went so far as to say on behalf of the administration,

“We were looking at ‘Srebrenica on steroids’ —the real or imminent possibility that up to a 100,000 people could be massacred, and everyone would blame us for it,”

A few years ago I posted many articles on the truth about the bombing of Serbia in which it was said that Clinton met with Izetbegovic, the Muslim leader and was asked to intervene. Clinton said that if there were 5000 casualties, he could intervene. So...

Glenn Beck questions Obama’s agenda in ME

This Glenn Beck show was done on the Friday before the bombing of Libya started. In it Beck suggested that Obama is much like Rev Wright only he tries to hide his antisemitism. He connects Obama with Wright, Soros and his Open Society Institute, Iran Egypt and Libya. Bottom line is that Obama is realigning the US with her enemies and against her friends like Israel. The first 29 minutes cover it.
