Israel Needs To Stop Seeking EU Approval To Defend Itself

Laura: Note to Israel’s political leaders, you scare off hamas through the actual use of overwhelming, devastating and dare I say, disproportionate military force. Hamas won’t be deterred by making threats delivered through third parties. You are a sovereign nation and therefore do not need authorization from the EU to defend yourself and take out your enemies. In any case the EU is not your friend and won’t support you. Shouldn’t that be obvious by now?

Israel wants EU help to scare off Hamas

ANDREW RETTMAN

EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS – Israel wants the EU to tell Hamas that the international community would endorse Israeli military action against Gaza if it continues to fire rockets and mortars.

“The EU is very busy with the situation in Libya … but it should become more aware of the escalating violence by Hamas and others. The EU must do what it can to make Hamas understand this is intolerable and that it will have consequences for Hamas...

Has Obama made a deal with Iran?

The Obama Administration Calls for More Study of Iran’s Human Rights Abuses

by Anne Bayefsky, Fox News.

The Obama administration’s U.N.-centered foreign policy reached new heights of incredulity today with the U.N. Human Rights Council adoption of a resolution on Iran. With the Obama team in Geneva at the center of it, the resolution calls for more study of the Iranian human rights record and the submission of a report one year from now.

Instead of blasting the ridiculous excuse for delaying serious action against a notorious regime currently engaged in heinous violations of human rights, the Obama administration actually masterminded the resolution.

Immediately following the resolution’s adoption, U.S.-U.N. Ambassador to Geneva Eileen Donahoe held a news conference in which she declared “what we have just witnessed is a seminal moment for this body – the Human Rights Council – with the establishment of a Special Rapporteur on the human...

Good News, Israel

Quote for the Week
Compliments of Anglo Saxon Raannana Real Estate

The Youth of a Nation are the trustees of posterity.

Benjamin Disraeli (British politician and author. )

* If Polonius of Hamlet fame was correct, and we believe he was, when he said that ‘Brevity is the soul of wit’ then Sara Palin, former governor of Alaska, is a very wise lady indeed, and we believe that too. She had but two words of advice for Israelis; ‘Stop apologizing!’ To us, used as we are to being overwhelmed by a welter of words from well-meaning visitors intent on telling us how to run our show, Ms Palin was a breath of fresh air. Like former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, Mississippi Governor Haley Barbour and former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, all potential candidates for president in 2012, she and husband Todd were here for a two-day, private visit . They promised to come back and we at GN ISRAEL would add that they will...

So much for multilateralism

Rick Moran describes the Confusion and Conflict on Libya in a FrontPageMag article.

Allegedly the NATO Ministers reached an agreement yesterday which Moran describes as “having a separate political committee of all coalition partners overseeing military operations? It appears that what NATO ministers voted on Thursday evening was just the first step in what might be a long process of trying to satisfy all members of the alliance (votes on military action must be unanimous among the 28 members).”

How does this fit into the idea of having a separate political committee of all coalition partners overseeing military operations? Nobody knows yet. It appears that what NATO ministers voted on Thursday evening was just the first step in what might be a long process of trying to satisfy all members of the alliance (votes on military action must be unanimous among the 28 members).

This will probably take some doing. France wishes to aggressively attack Gaddafi and...

Riots in Syria

By Mordechai Kedar, The Center for the Study of Middle East and Islam

Above the tomb of Hafez al-Assad in the Alawi town of Qardaha is a sign with a verse from the Koran: “Obey Allah, Obey the Messenger and those charged with authority among you.” “Those charged with authority” refers to the acting rulers, even if they do not rule by the grace of Islam. Not for naught was this verse chosen, as it is meant to lend Islamic justification even to a government of infidels. Since 1966, the Syrian regime has been in the hands of the small Alawi minority, considered by Islam to be infidels; its sons are not entitled to rule and, being idol worshippers, according to Islamic canon they do not even have the right to live.

Between 1976 and 1982, Islamic elements attempted to end Alawi rule, but the regime liquidated fifty thousand of them: twenty thousand in the Tadmor prison and another thirty thousand in Hama , which was subjected to heavy bombing that totally destroyed sections of...

ZOA mourns Elizabeth Taylor, ardent Zionist and Jewish Convert

Zionist Organization of America

The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) mourns the passing of legendary American actress and ardent Zionist, Elizabeth Taylor, who has passed away, aged 79. Ms. Taylor, who enjoyed a long and hugely successful career in Hollywood, was converted to Judaism in 1959 by the Rabbi Max Nussbaum, who served as National President of the ZOA from 1964 to 1966.

Among Elizabeth Taylor’s outstanding work on behalf of Israel and Jewish causes was her participating in raising $840,000 for Israel in a 1967 London gala and purchasing personally $100,000 in Israel Bonds in 1959. The same year, she cancelled a visit to Moscow after the Soviet Union lashed out at Israel after the June 1967 Six Day War.

In 1975, she was one of 60 prominent women to sign a statement to then-U.N. Secretary General Kurt Waldheim, condemning the U.N. General Assembly’s infamous Zionism-is-Racism resolution. Taylor offered herself as a hostage when 104 hostages aboard an Air France...
