*From the MEMRI Jihad and Terrorism Threat MonitorNew Facebook Group Titled "Islamic State of Libya" Islamists have established a Facebook group called "the Islamic state of Libya." The name is clearly modeled on the name Islamic State of Iraq (ISI), the Iraqi branch of Al-Qaeda, (though, unlike the ISI, this group is apparently confined to cyberspace and is not engaged in actual jihad in the field). The group, which uses the ISI banner as its logo, seeks to promote the rebellion in Libya and present it as jihad, and advocates the establishment of an Islamic state in the country. As of this writing, it has nearly 300 members. Most of the content on the page is in English. To read the full report, visit http://www.memrijttm.org/content/en/blog_personal.htm?id=4607¶m=GJN.
