US can be energy independent
America Has More Recoverable Fossil Fuel Resources Than Any Other Country
Doug Brady, Conservatives4Palin
Yes, despite the conventional wisdom being peddled by the inept Obama Administration, you read the headline correctly. Via Peter C. Glover at the Energy Tribune:
In case anyone missed it, let me repeat something that is of a magnitude of 10 on the scale of news-quakes for Joe Public USA: America’s combined energy resources are, according to a new report from the Congressional Research Service (CSR), the largest on earth. They eclipse Saudi Arabia (3rd), China (4th) and Canada (6th) combined – and that’s without including America’s shale oil deposits and, in the future, the potentially astronomic impact of methane hydrates.
Glover provides this helpful chart to illustrate his point:
Glover first debunks the liberal myth that America has no oil:
While the US is often depicted as having only a tiny minority of the world’s oil reserves at around 28 billion barrels (based...
Sarah and Sarah
Editorial of The New York Sun |
One of the things that Sarah Palin did on her stopover at Israel was announce that she was eager to return for a longer visit, and we found ourselves wondering whether she will eventually make a visit to the Machpelah. For the first body laid to rest there in the cave purchased by Abraham was that of Mrs. Palin’s namesake, Sarah, Abraham’s wife and the mother of Isaac. We have sometimes found ourselves wondering whether the affection Mrs. Palin exhibits in respect of Israel is related to the fact that the former governor — the Alert Alaskan is our favorite alliteration for her — is named after the first, the most beautiful, and the most prickly of the Jewish matriarchs.
We were put in mind of this not only by Mrs. Palin’s visit to Israel but also by the contretemps that followed the suggestion by a leading journalist in Washington, David Frum, that Mrs. Palin was alienating Jewish voters by failing to arrange her visit through a the...
The West supports a Judenrein Palestine
By Matthew M. Hausman, AMERICAN THINKER
In seeking to impose a Palestinian state on Israel, the Obama Administration, European Union, and western media have displayed a cynical contempt for history that is astounding in its breadth and scope. Pressure is brought to bear solely on Israel, who is expected to sacrifice sovereignty and security in the name of an ideal that is premised on a repudiation of the Jews’ right to self-determination in their ancient homeland.
The Palestinians are expected to concede nothing — not even their oft-stated goal of the phased destruction of Israel. Nothing illustrates the hypocrisy better than a comparison of their demand that Israel accept an Arab “right of return” with their ambition for a state that would be ethnically cleansed of all Jews. Like the Nazis with whom the Mufti and other Arab leaders were so closely allied during the Second World War, they seek to create a Judenrein state as a springboard for the elimination of...
Is Bibi for or against a PA state?
By Ted Belman
Hillel Fendel reports that Politicians Warn Against PA State, except for the center-left represented by Mofaz and Barak and maybe Netanyahu.. Both are worried about the UNGA will recognize Palestine in September and want to do make concessions to avoid it.
In a speech last week, Barak said he considers this scenario a “political tsunami” against Israel. He even said that this political development will carry a strong element of de-legitimizing the State of Israel.
As opposed to an increasing number of politicians, however, his solution, was not to try to head off its formation – but only to remove its “unilateral” nature. He accused his boss, Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, of not being more forthcoming in negotiations with the PA, and said Israel must express immediate willingness to discuss issues such as final borders, Jerusalem, and the settlement of Arab refugees.
Bibi should boot Barak.
Many other politicians, however, are not...
“Abbas has to choose whether he wants peace with Israel, or peace with Hamas,”
By Ted belman
Lately there has been a lot of talk about a unity government being formed between the PA and Hamas.
Israel has said, no way, no how. In fact Keinon and Abu Toameh title their recent article on the subject “Jerusalem to cut ties with PA if Hamas added to unity government”
Israel will stop dealing with the Palestinian Authority if it brings Hamas into the government, a senior government official said Saturday night, a few hours after PA President Mahmoud Abbas met in Ramallah with a senior Hamas delegation for conciliation talks.
“Abbas has to choose whether he wants peace with Israel, or peace with Hamas,” the official said. “He can’t have both. If he chooses peace with Hamas it will bury the peace process.”
Apparently Israel wants to see the PA under Abbas once again take control of Gaza rather than a permanent split. Mofaz has said the same thing.
Alternately
Israel’s objection to Hamas inside the PA government would...
Mofaz: “End rule of Hamas in Gaza”
By Ted Belman
Shaul Mofaz, who is second only to Livni in the Kadima party and a potential Minister of Defense should Kadima form the next government has been an advocate of an interim agreement with the Palestinians which would create a provisional state. Now he has suggested a Second Defensive Shield to clean out Hamas from Gaza, just as the first cleanned out the terrorists in Judea and Samaria after Intifadah II,
The continuation of this terror offensive must prompt us to undertake strategic action to end Hamas’ rule in Gaza. This is not about directing meaningful fire at open spaces, and we must not only focus on the rocket launching cells.
We must carry out methodical, ceaseless operations against anyone affiliated with Hamas or Islamic Jihad. Terror group members cannot be divided into operatives and a “back office.” The lives of anyone associated with Hamas and terrorism must become an inseparable part of the equation involving attacks on Israeli...
Hezbollah is duty-bound to attack Israel if Israel attacks Iran
According to Lebanon Now Hezbollah has built a concensus that is very fragil and likely to fall apart if Hezbollah lead the country into war with Israel.
This poses potential problems for Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah’s secretary general. His implicit contract with Iran is that his party be prepared to protect and advance Tehran’s interests in the Levant, to the extent that Hezbollah would retaliate against Israel if the Israelis were to bombard Iranian nuclear facilities. But for such a project to be effective, for Hezbollah to go to war with confidence that its countrymen are not working behind its back against its interests, the party would have to enjoy widespread Lebanese backing.
That may be so but I don’t believe it would stop Hezbollah from following Tehrans orders.
