Sean Gabb in Brussels
I did mean to send everything out at once. But I didn't. So here goes.
1. Yesterday, I told you about the latest Libertarian Alliance publication
- "What to do if you become involved with the Criminal Law" by Robert
Henderson. This may be the best short guide currently in print to what to
do in the New Labour-Blue Labour police state. If you live in England, you
really should print it out and learn it by heart.

If you want to send any money to Robert - and I suggest he deserves the
odd contribution - contact him here for address details:

2. Yesterday, I also sent out my essay on whether businesses should have
the right to discriminate against homosexuals. Now, some people have
chosen to comment only on the facts of the case. But the sexual element is
of no real importance. A left libertarian would argue as follows:
a. A public house is licensed. It has a monopoly advantage and is
therefore a rent seeker.
b. We should oppose all regulations that enable rent seeking. However,
while these laws remain in force, other laws may be legitimate if they
mitigate the worst behaviour of the rent seekers.
c. As such, it is right to compel licensed pubkeepers not to discriminate
against their customers.
I am willing to take a pragmatic approach to some secondary regulations,
but think the left libertarians are pushing the principle to the point of
absurdity. If anyone wants to join in the debate, here is the article:

3. I spoke in Brussels on the 8th April at the inaugural meeting of the
Young Libertarians. This was a most interesting and enjoyable occasion.
Here is my video of the event:

4. I did a one hour television discussion last Friday, the 15th April,
with Tony Benn - Robert Fox presiding. I don't yet have a video of this,
but it was a most interesting discussion about why "Brave Dave" Cameron
has decided to forget everything he might have learned about Iraq and get
us involved in Libya, and about what we are all supposed to do now the
involvement is going tits up.
I did ask Mr Benn how close he was to Michael Foot. When he said "Not very
close at all," I gave him a copy of "The Churchill Memorandum." We spoke
about alternative history thrillers for an hour afterwards.
And, on the subject of "The Churchill Memorandum," I will say that An Rand
is the most important of the background characters - she and Nathanial
Branden. If you want to know what would become of them in a world where
"Atlas Shrugged" never got written, you can buy your copies here:

What would England and the world have been like in 1959 if there had been
no Second World War? For one possible answer, read Sean Gabb's new novel
"The Churchill Memorandum". If you like Bulldog Drummond and Biggles and
the early James Bond, this will be right up your street:
