Dear Harold: Did Pakistani officials know that Osama bin Laden was hiding out in their country? Were his whereabouts kept hidden from the U.S.? Since Pakistan receives billions in foreign aid from the United States, it is essential that our government determine the answers to these questions. Please join us in signing the following petition calling on Congress to thoroughly investigate this matter. This is an urgent national security issue. Let’s get to the bottom of this and make sure we are not funding a nation that would hide from us a terrorist so evil he has been “Public Enemy Number One” for years. Following is the petition: Osama bin Laden Hiding Out in Pakistan: What Did Pakistan Officials Know and When Did They Know It? To Members of the 112th United States Congress We the undersigned join with the millions of Americans who are today asking, “How is it possible Osama bin Laden could have lived for five years in a million dollar compound in Pakistan without Pakistani officials knowing it?” We are deeply disturbed by the revelations that terrorist enemy number one, Osama bin Laden, was discovered living peacefully less than one mile from an elite Pakistani military academy. We are asking, “Were Pakistani officials negligent? Did some Pakistani officials know bin Laden was there and withhold this vital information from the U.S.?” We join with Members of Congress who have raised similar questions, and are asking “Should we continue sending billions of dollars in foreign aid to Pakistan?” In a time of fiscal crisis in America, we do not believe our nation can continue to give away billions of dollars a year in foreign aid to countries who demonstrate by their actions that they cannot be trusted to assist us in the war against Islamic terrorism. Therefore, we call upon the Congress, through its pertinent committees, to investigate how bin Laden could have lived for so long under the noses of Pakistani officials, and to initiate appropriate sanctions such as cutting, suspending or ending foreign aid to Pakistan if it is determined Pakistan did not act as an ally in America’s ten year search for Osama bin Laden.
