North of the Arctic Circle, Islamic interest

From a correspondent:I am visiting one of the most isolated communities in the
western hemisphere, in acountry of western culture..

and to my surprise we learned an interesting story about a Muslim Mosque that

wasrecently installed! Inuvik Northwest Terrtories Canada,

a town of about 3500 people well north of the Arctic Circle
less than a year ago got this Mosque..

This smallish structure now holds the status of being the furthest north

Mosque in the world.. and the only Mosque north of the Arctic Circle..

The building was brought over land by truck for 2400 kilometers then

another 1800 kilo meters by river barge to arrive in Inuvik..

thus it also has the status of holding the record for being the longest distance

any building has ever been moved on earth!

This apparently saved them money..it would have cost half a million
dollars to build it on site.. and was apparently cheaper to do it this way..

Interesting they felt the need for the Mosque here..

there are 80 members in Inuvik.. they claim their main reason for being

here is to educate children!!!
