ALLEN WEST IS BRILLIANT
Thursday, 30 June 2011
AP: "The protests attest to the ongoing upheaval in Egypt nearly five months after Mubarak stepped down. The country is struggling with a worsening economic crisis and as a security vacuum that has led to a surge in crime."
UN Watch, a Geneva-based human rights group, today called on the United States and the EU to strongly protest the UN's appointment of North Korea as head of its Conference on Disarmament, a 65-member arms control forum.
“Bare months after the UN finally suspended Libya’s Col. Muammar Qaddafi from its Human Rights Council, North Korea wins the propaganda coup of heading the world’s disarmament agency,” said Hillel Neuer, executive director of UN Watch. “It’s asking the fox to guard the chickens, and damages the UN's credibility.”
“While the UN will likely defend North Korea’s appointment as simply an automatic rotation,” said Neuer, “no system should tolerate such a fundamental conflict of interests. It’s common sense that a disarmament body should not be headed by the world’s arch-villain on illegal weapons and nuclear proliferation, notorious for exporting missiles and nuclear know-how to fellow rogue regimes around the globe.”
The UN Security Council has repeatedly condemned North Korea for launching rockets, and has imposed sanctions related to its development of nuclear weapons, ballistic missiles and other weapons of mass destruction. Earlier this month, the US Navy intercepted a North Korean ship suspected of illegally carrying missile parts to Burma.
The Conference of Disarmament reports to the UN General Assembly and is billed by the UN as “the single multilateral disarmament negotiating forum of the international community.”
According to a UN summary, North Korea’s So Se Pyong assumed the presidency yesterday, assuring the panel that he was “very much committed to the Conference.” He invited proposals to strengthen “the work and credibility of the body,” and said he would do “everything in his capacity to move the Conference on Disarmament forward.”
“All of the delegations who took the floor,” reported the UN’s summary, welcomed the North Korean’s presidency, and said that “they looked forward to his stewardship” and to working with him “to revitalize and strengthen the Conference.” Those listed as having taken the floor were Canada, the UK, India, China, Nigeria, Portugal, Iran, Myanmar, Algeria, and UN official Jarmo Sareva.
According to the UN summary of speeches, China’s Wang Qun “welcomed the presidency of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.” Nigeria’s Kayode Laro said “the presidency of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea would have the full support of the Nigerian delegation.”
In an earlier meeting last week, Iran’s Mohammad Hassan Daryaei said, “I would also like to congratulate the distinguished ambassador of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea for the assumption of the presidency and assure him of my delegation’s full support and cooperation.”
UN Watch is a Geneva-based human rights organization founded in 1993 to monitor UN compliance with the principles of its Charter. It is accredited as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) in Special Consultative Status to the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and as an Associate NGO to the UN Department of Public Information.

Question no liberal reporter will ask Obama: What is the deterrent against coordinated suicide bombing and Mumbai Massacre-style swarming assaults on US targets?
A global Muslim state? Of course, that has always been the Islamist/Muslim Brotherhood objective. Click here for the interview with the clerical fascist leader, whose party was made possible by the Obama administration's abandonment and betrayal of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak.
Questions no liberal reporter will ever ask President Obama: Do you believe in the existence of a global Muslim nation? Why do you insist on addressing "the Muslim world?" How do you define "the Muslim world?"
The ways in which South Korea plans to respond to new North Korean provocationscould easily escalate into a full-fledged war.
Foreign Confidential™ analysts are deeply concerned about such a scenario. North Korea could try to mar America's annual, July 4 Independence Day holiday with another nuclear test--the North's third detonation of an atomic device--or the test-firing of missiles, or an attack of some sort on South Korean military or civilian targets.
As predicted and as previously reported, Yemen's "Arab Spring" has created a huge opportunity for Islamist murderers, including terror gangs linked to Al Qaeda. Click here for the story.
Even if Iran, if it is allowed to develop its weapons of mass destruction, can be deterred from a direct strike on the Jewish State, the threat of an indirect Iranian attack on Israel, by proxy or terrorist group, will remain a real and constant possibility.
Iran has also mused openly about a "world without America."
Again, while a direct attack on the United States by Iran would be insane, the threat of an indirect and deniable hit would loom large. Iran and North Korea have developed and tested missile launch systems designed to be concealed and used aboard cargo vessels; and there is no known defense against such an attack, which could be aimed at wiping out either a U.S. coastal city or the entire U.S. power grid (Google EMP attack, or search this blog's archives accordingly).
Given the above, and in light of 9/11, the U.S. should long ago have preemptively attacked Iran from the air--waves of swift and merciless assaults--in order to (a) eliminate its nuclear and missile programs and war-fighting capabilities, and (b) annihilate the Nazi-lke regime itself, including the monstrous mullahs and their Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps. The U.S. alone has the power to end the Iranian threat--without use of nuclear weapons. Israel will have to draw on its presumed nuclear arsenal in order to utterly defeat Iran without suffering devastating counterattacks by the turbaned tyranny and Hezbollah, which is bristling with missiles capable of leveling Haifa and Tel Aviv.
So much for logic. The Obama administration has unfortunately done the opposite. Instead of attacking Iran, the administration has appeased and actually attempted to align with it in the hope of entering into a so-called Grand Bargain aimed at pacifying Afghanistan and Pakistan.
Obama's engagement will go down in history alongside Chamberlain's appeasement as a policy that sought to preserve the peace but instead made war inevitable--on the enemy's terms.
