Filmmaker Steve Bannon invited me to an exclusive screening of his new Palin documentary "Undefeated" in New York last night. It's a blockbuster, because she is a force of nature. He has done this country a great service in this remarkable effort. Sarah Palin is one of the most media-saturated of all public figures, and yet so few know her story or, more remarkably, her exceptional record. No governor at any time, not LaGuardia, Roosevelt or even Reagan, accomplished anywhere near what this champion achieved in her first 18 months in office. We all fell in love with her for a reason, and despite years of malevolent Palin-bashing, this film reminds us why. It is astounding. And while America may look to Alaska for its energy, what America should look to Alaska for is her leadership. The origin of the film was inauspicious. Bannon was approached by Palin's close aide, Rebecca Mansour, with a request to make a few you tube videos explaining a number of Palin's historical accomplishments while Governor of Alaska. But so taken was Bannon with Palin's recordand leadership that he made a feature-length movie, financing it himself while keeping complete editorial control. Palin was not even interviewed for the film (he used audio from her book "Going Rogue" for continuity). Bannon's background is interesting. He is a former naval officer and ex-Goldman Sachs banker, now a filmmaker, who was enormously impressed with an American patriot with frontier values from the last great American frontier. Palin's background is blue collar. Her father was a schoolteacher who never made more than $23,000 a year. Her mom was a homemaker. Her husband is working class, and she belongs to no political dynasty or any insiders clique either in the beltway or Alaska. She is us. She is the quintessential maverick, an outsider; but despite this, she beat old boy powerhouse Republican Frank Murkowski in the primary before crushing the competition in the general election to become Alaska's youngest -- and first female -- chief executive on sheer goodness and will. And even those of us who thought we knew what champion Palin was, knew little of her monumental achievements. The film is divided into three parts. First, how she came from nothing to battle the corrupt powers fighting against her (and the best interest of Alaskans) and achieved unprecedented success in a very short period of time despite the odds. The second part of the film shows the true leadership, natural charisma and intelligence that makes Sarah Palin uniquely qualified to inherit the Reagan mantle. She is the only conservative leader who can lead a Reaganesque Revolution and bring the American people (the tea party movement) back into power and into the Oval office. Steve Bannon has been quoted as saying, "This film is a call to action for a campaign like 1976: Reagan vs. the establishment." America needs this film. I hope this is the opening salvo in the right's counter assault on the left's cultural choke-hold and the manufactured narratives they audaciously call news. It is time, America, that we go on the offense. Bannon kicks off the film by exposing the fierce pathology behind Palin Derangement Syndrome with a series of vidclips of well known "celebrities" spewing X-rated misogynistic, sexist, and vicious remarks about Palin. It speaks more to their character, or lack thereof. Bannon actually has two versions of the film -- the x-rated version and the PG13 edit for family audiences. What I admire most is how Palin does not back down in spite of this misogynistic war on her very existence. Having been on the receiving end of violent left wing poison (I actually make a cameo in the film when a Keith Olbermann "worst person in the world" clip is used -- I am the runner-up to Palin), I can tell you that the abuse against her is shocking. And yet Sarah moves forward without hesitation, with guts and grit and grace. I love her. She has character and spine like no one else. Obama would melt in one day under such relentless attack. The left does not realize that they have trained this woman for D-day battle. America needs to see this movie if, for no other reason, to know what a real leader looks like and acts like, and to understand what Palin actually accomplished. America must begin to understand how violent and destructive the elitists that control information dissemination have become. We witness an absolute campaign of destruction of a squeaky clean, brilliant, accomplished champion of the people by bloodthirsty, jealous hyenas. And the craven complicity of the Republican establishment will drive legions away from the old guard and their Rovian mechanics. The Old Guard must stand down. Governor Palin’s cornerstone accomplishment is AGIA (Alaska Gasline Inducement Act). During the Palin administration, TransCanada and Exxon formed an alliance to build a natural gas pipeline from Alaska to the Lower 48. Under Governor Palin’s governance, the project was expanded and revised from what previous governors had proposed with an open policy process for the Alaskan people. More progress was made on this effort than in the previous 30 years. This is the largest private sector infrastructure project in North American history and helps put us on the path toenergy independence. Governor Palin’s administration opened up drilling for oil and natural gas at Pt. Thompson for the first time in decades. Governor Palin created the Alaska’s Petroleum Integrity Office to oversee all aspects of energy development and Climate ChangeSubcabinet to comprehensively and honestly evaluate climate change. Governor Palin reduced earmark requests for the state of Alaska by 80% during her administration, requesting only earmarks that would benefit the country as a whole. Governor Palin reduced spending in her budget for Fiscal Year 2010 by more than one billion dollars from the previous governor’ s Fiscal Year 2007 budget, a 9.5% real reduction in spending. Her FY2010 budget was $10.57 billion compared to Governor Murkowski’s FY2007 budget of nearly $11.7 billion. At the same time, she fulfilled her campaign promise to forward fund education, allowing districts greater flexibility and predictability in their planning. She vetoed half a billion dollars in spending, the largest veto in state history. Governor Palin invested $5 billion in state savings. Governor Palin reformed Alaska’s public employee retirement system to make it solvent. Governor Palin accepted less state per diem for herself and her family than her predecessors even though she had a larger family. Who can you say these things about? Americans must become one man media machines. We must educate ourselves, and then educate our friends, neighbors, co-workers. We must teach our children how to think. Get involved in information and news dissemination. We must make our own choices and own them. Become like Sarah, "rawhide tough." The film will open to wide distribution. Go and take everyone you love. While every election is critical and "historic," and every presidential election, more so, sometimes, it's true. And none more than now. None more than 2012. Every American is needed in this war for the security, the viability, the soul of America. Every American is needed on deck. Every family is a unit in the national service of our country. This is no exaggeration. This is life and death. This nation is at the precipice. A terrible war is coming, thanks in part to disastrous policies set in motion by a dangerous post-American president. The media has ceased to act in any kind of responsible news gathering/disseminating fashion. It acts only to serve the state and its party (statism, collectivism). America must break the hold it has on creating false narratives about traitors and low-lives, while destroying the reputations and careers of patriots and heroes. I am sick and tired of hearing that Sarah Palin is "unelectable." Says who? The urbane degenerates masquerading as "journalists?" This is who America is looking to for information and direction? Civilizational suicide. I am sick and tired of hearing Republicans say Sarah Palin is unelectable. Says who and why and based on what? I am sick and tired of letting our enemies define our leaders for us. Palin has the stuff of true greatness. She has grit and courage and love of country. The palpable hatred among the left elites (and their counterparts, the RINOs) is the hatred of the good for being the good. Palin's record is exemplary. From the PTA to the Mayor's office. From the Mayor to the Governor. From Governor to Vice-Presidential candidate. She is close to perfect, and yet she is reviled, defamed, ridiculed by those who aren't fit to wipe her black stilettos. The more evil succeeds and overwhelms our foreign and domestic policy, our culture, our discourse and the very social fabric of our lives, the clearer it becomes that nothing less than a true patriot can pull us up by our boot straps and enable us to throw off the shackles of leftism, statism and 50 years of leftwing infiltration. And it won't be easy, but it must be done to save America. The low state of the world is getting lower. But there are so many great Americans who will fight tooth and nail to stop what Obama and the uber-left are doing to America. Clear thinking Americans see what is happening. America is being tested in a way she never has been before. The President has in every decision reinforced the impression that he is a radical, an Islamophile, an anti-semite, a usurper of the Constitution. He is bankrupting our nation and illegally grabbing private wealth while appointing Islamic supremacist infiltrators to key positions. He has abandoned our allies and weakened of our military. It's stunning. Sarah Palin sees it, too. Smart, sharp, patriotic, she best represents the majority of Americans. And here is the crux of the problem. We cannot let our domestic enemies define our leaders. We cannot let our domestic enemies destroy our most effective voices on the right. You must have seen by now that the more rational, the more effective, the patriotic a Republican leader is, the more they are polarized, ridiculed, destroyed. This must stop, and we must stop it. We will not never change the rabid left. Like most family members with a mental illness, they should be carefully monitored and watched that they don't hurt themselves, but never consulted or taken seriously. Logic is anathema to the left. For them, reason is the enemy. We tolerate them, but we do not hand over to them the reins of the most powerful economic, military, intellectual powerhouse in the world. Because when you do, you get a unqualified bastard like Obama. As for the Republican old guard, they better get out of the way. I, for one, like tens of millions of red-blooded Americans, look forward to the day that Sarah Palin announces her intention to run for president, despite the enormous personal cost such a run exacts. The forces of evil will unleash their absolute worst on this shining warrior, but tens of millions have her back. I was at the RNC in 2008. It was all about her. She lit the fire that reignited the right. And so she will again. Run, Sarah, run. I go every year and I love it. The nazis go also and try to bring down the happiness and ebullience, but they are like so many gnats. No one cares. The NY Post is running a special section on the Israel Day parade. AFDI/SIOA took the back cover -- the ad that Seattle Metro, San Francisco BART, and NYC Transit, cowards that they are, would not run. They must be dancing to a different beat. A Haitian salsa champion who returned to the stage after losing his leg in last year's massive earthquake is being denied the chance to come to New York to show off his skills He was scheduled to appear at the parade here Trapped for three days last year in the rubble of Haiti's devastating earthquake, all George Exantus could think about was doing the salsa on a brightly-lit stage. For him, dancing was life or death, and even after being rescued and having his right leg amputated below the knee, Exantus dreamed of the day he'd be back in step. With the help of a team of Israeli doctors, Exantus received a state-of-the-art prosthetic and months of intense rehabilitation. Now, Exantus is not only able to dance again. He looks like he hasn't missed a beat. The miracle dancer will show off his skills in New York Sunday at Manhattan's annual Celebrate Israel Parade. After the event, Exantus will dance in a concert in Central Park, the culminating twist on his road to recovery. "The will to dance is what kept my spirits up," Exantus told the Post. "I did not think I would live to see another day. The whole experience was scary and frantic. By the grace of God am I only here today." The catastrophic, 7.0-magnitude earthquake that killed 220,000 people and left 1.5 million Haitians homeless Jan. 12, toppled Exantus' apartment building, and pinned the dancer's feet and left hand under cement blocks for three days. "I was praying a lot to be rescued," Exantus said. "I slept. I was very hot, very sweaty. I had a feeling I was going to die." Saturday Night Cinema presents Intermezzo. Gregory Ratoff directed David O. Selznick's richly produced American remake of the Swedish film directed by Gustav Molander and starring Ingrid Bergman, who re-creates her role here. The story -- based on the original screenplay by Molander and Gosta Stevens -- concerns a love affair played out between famed concert violinist Holger Brandt (Leslie Howard) and a young pianist, Anita Hoffman (Ingrid Bergman). NY Times movie review from 1939: Sweden's Ingrid Bergman is so lovely a person and so gracious an actress that we are rather glad David Selznick selected the quiet "Intermezzo, a Love Story," for her Hollywood debut instead of some more bravura drama which, while it might not have overwhelmed its star, might have overwhelmed us and made us less conscious of the freshness, the simplicity and the natural dignity that are Miss Bergman's pleasant gift to our screen. The reticent, gentle, frequently poignant qualities of the Music Hall's new film are safely entrusted to Miss Bergman's hands—and to those of Leslie Howard and Edna Best, who have assisted at her debut. None of them seems eager to tear an emotion to tatters to dress up a theatrical property. Played softly then, and as softly directed by Gregory Ratoff, it is the story of the concert violinist who believes he has recaptured his youth in the selfless adoration of a young pianist. But she, being wiser, recognizes during their interlude that she holds possession of only the shell of the man, of only his self-delusion; so she sends him back to his wife and his family, and they bid him welcome. That is all there is to it, and cast and director have not tried to make it more. No bitter scenes, no recriminations, no flamboyant speeches of parting. The film has the unusual attribute of seeming to be, in itself, an intermezzo in the lives of people who existed before the camera found them and who will continue to live after it has turned away. Miss Bergman's share in it is, of course, the nicest part of it. She is beautiful, and not at all pretty. Her acting is surprisingly mature, yet singularly free from the stylistic traits—the mannerisms, postures, precise inflections—that become the stock in trade of the matured actress. Our impression of her Anita, who is pallid one moment, vivacious the next, yet always consistent, is that of a lamp whose wick burns bright or dull, but always burns. There is that incandescence about Miss Bergman, that spiritual spark which makes us believe that Selznick has found another great lady of the screen. Scarcely less valuable to the film, although in Miss Bergman's presence they must take subordinate place, are the performances of Mr. Howard as the completely plausible violinist and Miss Best as his forgiving wife. We regretted somehow that the scenarists chose to melodramatize their final scene together by falling back upon that hoary device, a street accident involving the estranged couple's little daughter, but they even managed to survive that handicap and have made the scene one of the picture's best. "Intermezzo" is not exactly a dramatic thunderbolt, nothing the glamour-conscious will be inflamed about. But we found it a mature, an eloquent and sensitive film and we recommend it to you. New Al Qaeda Video: American Muslims Should Buy Guns, Start Shooting People ABC news In a new video message released on the internet Friday, American-born al Qaeda spokesman Adam Gadahn calls on Muslims living in America to carry out deadly one-man terrorist acts using fully automatic weapons purchased at gun shows, and to target major institutions and public figures. "What are you waiting for?" asks Gadahn in English, and then adds that jihadis shouldn't worry about getting caught, since so many have been released. "Over these past few years, I've seen the release of many, many Mujahideen whom I had never even dreamed would regain their freedom." The two-part, two hour video appeared on jihadi websites Friday with images of jihadi leaders as well as snapshots of allegedunderwear bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab and accused Fort Hood shooter Major Nidal Hasan. Both Hasan and Abdulmutallab are charged with carrying out attacks inside the U.S. Called "Do Not Rely on Others, Take the Task Upon Yourself" and produced by al Qaeda's media arm, as Sahab, the tape mixes Gadahn's new message with clips from old videos of Osama bin Laden, Ayman al-Zawahiri and other al Qaeda leaders praising one-man attacks. They call on jihadis in the West to carry out lone wolf operations. Gadahn sounds the same theme in his message, a series of soundbites interspersed throughout the video and accompanied by images of U.S. airliners, bombmaking and the logos of U.S. companies. "Muslims in the West have to remember that they are perfectly placed to play an important and decisive part in the Jihad against the Zionists and crusaders, and to do major damage to the enemies of Islam, waging war on their religion, sacred places, and things, and brethren," says Gadahn. "This is a golden opportunity and a blessing." Gadahn suggests targeting major institutions -- after a clip showing the logos of such firms as Exxon, Merrill Lynch and Bank of America -- and "influential public figures." "Getting to these criminals isn't as hard as you might think," says Gadahn. "I mean we've seen how a woman knocked the Pope to the floor during Christmas mass, and how Italian leader Berlusconi's face was smashed during a public appearance. So it's just a matter of entrusting the matter to Allah and choosing the right place, the right time, and the right method." He claims that many Western born or raised jihadis, the "brothers who came from abroad" are now thinking about returning to their "Crusader" countries to "discharge their duty of jihad." He also says not to worry about imprisonment, since so many have been jihadis have been set free. "If it's Allah's will that you be captured, then it's not the end the world, and it doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to spend the rest of your life in prison." Many mujahideen who were locked up "are now back home with their families, or back on the frontlines, fighting the enemies." How long will these human rights activists and international law clowns ignore the Serbian people and their stories? Refuting the Bosnian Lies. Thanks for the ambitious headline: "Mladic trial a time for Balkan truth." We can only wish that truth were the goal of The Hague. The Journal says that "Unquestionably, justice is the prime imperative behind the arrest and coming trial of the Balkans' dreadful Ratko Mladic." Using the preface "unquestionably" doesn't make it unquestionable. The Journal says that "It is true that in the most passionate of conflicts, nothing will shake some people from false or distorted versions of past events." Serbians and the many reputable critics who have witnessed the reporting and trials that came out of these civil wars will firmly support that statement. What is a false version of past events? Could it be that changing the definition of genocide to fit the crime Mladic is accused of is a falsehood? Thousands of Serbs around Srebrenica were slaughtered, tortured and beheaded by Muslims based in the Srebrenica "safe haven." There was no question about who did it: Naser Oric, the leader of the killers, photographed his victims and bragged to Western journalists. This man got a light sentence -a slap on the wrist. Who would believe that Mladic will get a fair trial? There was never a Serbian plan, much less a Mladic plan, for a greater Serbia, but sloppy reporters, including The Journal, in using those words. Anybody can pick up a package of past articles written about the conflicts and spit it out again. The Journal coyly states that if Mladic is convicted it will be for specific, verifiable crimes, but he has been convicted again and again in the press until he is finally being sent to this kangaroo court to tie things up. The Serbian people are a dignified, justice-loving people whose story is ignored. N. Jakovac, Toronto, Ont. What the media refuses to report on are the facts. The Jewish community would be aghast if it learned that its local Jewish Federation was subsidizing Syria’s army or Hezbollah. It should be aghast when it learns that its Jewish Federation has been funding a program that gives credibility to the trained operatives of the International Solidarity Movement — an organization whose goal is to eradicate Israel via the “soft” means of boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS). Yet, California’s Orange County Jewish Federation & Family Services (JFFS) has been supporting such a program — the Olive Tree Initiative (OTI) — since 2008, and public statements by its leadership indicate that it intends to continue. Police: Woman Stabs 2 Outside Bloomington Library CBS Minnesota BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (WCCO) — Two people were stabbed in a seemingly random attack at a Twin Cities library. After the incident Wednesday night at the Oxboro Library in Bloomington, 35-year-old Samira Abdalla Salim was arrested. Salim was no stranger to the Oxboro Library. She had a reputation for handing out the Koran and talking religion outside the building. “They had some issues with her harassing other patrons,” said Bloomington Police Commander Mark Stehlik. But it’s what investigators say she did on Wednesday night that surprised everyone. “I never thought she would do that. She was very nice,” said Anisa Ahmed, Salim’s neighbor. Salim is accused of stabbing two people. The first victim was a woman who was walking into the library. “The next thing she knew, she felt a sharp pain in the middle of her back and realized she had been stabbed,” said Stehlik. The second was a security guard who heard the victim’s cry for help. He went to talk to Salim in the parking lot. “Spoke to her briefly and then she actually stabbed him as well. Stabbed him in the abdomen,” said Stehlik. Because Salim lived next door to the library, witnesses identified her right away and she was arrested in minutes. Judenrein in Sunny Southern California: Banning Male Circumcision. America, this is getting very, very ugly. Male circumcision is significantly healthier, with or without the important religious significance. The Islamic practice of female genital mutilation (cutting off the clitoris) is sick misogyny. To equate the two is officially legislating Jew-hatred. Any doubt this was motivated by hatred and racism? Zombie over at PJM: Proof that S.F.’s circumcision ban is anti-Semitic Defenders of the measure say it’s all about “human rights” and “protecting babies” from unnecessary procedures. But critics suspected there was something vaguely anti-Semitic about the whole proposal, since among Jews (and Muslims, as well) circumcising male babies is a religious duty, not just a mistaken medical procedure. Ban proponents insisted their proposal had nothing to do with Jews — really, it’s all about the rights of children. Well, any doubt that they were lying have now been dispelled, with the publication of new campaign literature for the upcoming circumcision ban. The campaign comic book, called Foreskin Man, after its baby-saving superhero, features a litany of evil Jews doing battle with blonde Nordic saviors. (Oh, and did I mention the artist’s last name is Hess? A relative of Rudolph, perhaps?) Antifa translated is antifascists (the very thing they define). They are this century's nazis. One text: They were also attacking people ======================================= Then this: Spoke in front of 1000 Antifa and german riot police in helmets Above is the video of his talk before violent Antifa pro-jihad demonstrators in Stuttgart, Germany yesterday. Spencer has posted this: I spoke in Stuttgart, Germany at the invitation of the human rights group Pax Europa. The event was well advertised, and so the thuggish Leftist/Islamic supremacist alliance mobilized and was out in full force. About 1000 Antifa protesters showed up, banging drums, holding signs with the usual accusations of racism and "Islamophobia," blowing whistles, and menacing people who came out for the Pax Europa event. There were also about 500 German police on hand in riot gear. The Pax Europa organizers told me, "This is all for you" -- because they had publicized that I would be there. One young man came up to me as I was standing right in front of a line of German police and said, "You're lucky there are so many police here today." Pax Europa had planned a full program featuring Middle Eastern Christian musicians, a Coptic Christian activist, and others, so as to highlight the hollowness of the Islamic supremacist narrative of Muslim victimhood and anti-jihadist racism. But the police ordered the Pax Europa organizers to drastically reduce the scope of their event. Everyone was restricted to ten minutes only. Several participants opted not to appear, in light of the manifest danger. Antifa people were attacking supporters of Pax Europa. I saw several individuals being chased by rabid Leftist gangs. At least one man went to the hospital. The police used loudspeakers to call on Antifa twice to disperse, as Pax Europa had lawfully reserved the space for their event. The Antifa people responded only by moving forward, chanting slogans, banging their drums, and holding aloft the usual Leftist kitsch -- Che Guevara, the hammer and sickle, the Palestinian flag, signs denouncing Islamophobia, etc. The police moved them back a bit but did not ask them again to disperse, and allowed the Pax Europa event to begin. It was an incredible din. We had loudspeakers that appeared to be able to reach the considerable crowd behind the protesters, but the Antifa thugs did all they could to drown us out: the drums got louder, the vuvuzelas came out, they were blowing whistles, and of course they were screaming and yelling. They started throwing things: bottles, eggs, excrement and more. One bottle narrowly missed the Coptic activist's head and crashed onto the stage -- other bottles crashed at our feet. Several speakers were hit with eggs. The manure they threw was all over the stage floor. I stood right in front (they missed me; I dodged a few projectiles) and watched them as they screamed and gestured and threw things -- it was like looking into the pit of hell. Here were young people passionately committed to their cause and believing it to be that of justice and freedom, and they are eager and willing useful idiots for the most radically intolerant ideology on the planet. So when my turn came to speak, I addressed them, and told them just that. I told them they wouldn't like what happened to them when their friends took power, but by then it would be too late. And it may be already, for Europe. But I was glad to be there yesterday, and to stand against what was so obviously a force for oppression, hatred, and evil. What is being done to stop this? What has to happen to spur meaningful defensive measures? Muslims attack Jews at University of Melbourne Australian Islamist Monitor A police report has been filed following an allegedly violent incident during the Australasian Union of Jewish Students’ (AUJS) Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israel Independence Day) celebrations. The lunchtime party, held on University of Melbourne grounds, turned ugly when an individual used wirecutters to vandalise a stereo playing Israeli music. He is then alleged to have struck an AUJS member, injuring him with the wirecutters. Both police and security were present at the event and two individuals were reportedly removed from the scene. … the AUJS event consisted of music and dancing on the university lawns and could not have been misconstrued as a political rally. AUJS leaders and Jewish Community Council of Victoria (JCCV) president John Searle have called on the police to lay charges relating to the individual’s alleged possession of a weapon, vandalism and assault. The University of Melbourne counter-rally was organized by two groups – Students for Palestine, and the Federation of Australian Muslim Students and Youth (FAMSY). A flyer posted across Melbourne encouraged students to “rally against Zionists’ apartheid celebrations.” AUJS, which is affiliated with the Student Union, had permission to hold its event. A student union representative confirmed that neither Students for Palestine nor FAMSY are affiliates of the university. According to Lazarus, AUJS will request answers as to how the counter-rally was permitted at all. He said the Jewish student group had always had a good relationship with security representatives on campus and was disappointed the situation got out of hand. “We think we took all the right precautions.” Searle agreed and said he would not be encouraging AUJS to lie low in the future. Odd, but I could not find this reported by any other media outlet. Is it because attacks on Jews are unimportant? Or was the reluctance to report it because it puts Muslims in a bad light? Whatever the reason, both the incident itself and the reluctance to mention it, are concerning. Generally the Jewish leadership has ignored the vitriolic and racist BDS and Israel Apartheid movements, arguing that reacting would simply “give them oxygen”. So it was refreshing to hear Searle saying he would not encourage AUJS to lie low in future. In a free and democratic country, students should be able to celebrate their culture without harassment. The university must ensure this sort of incident does not happen again, and the police must press charges against the perpetrators. To read more about FAMSY, read THIS DOCUMENT Manifestations of hatred and demonization of Israel and Jews have been increasing: CONCERN is rising in the Jewish community over increasingly violent anti-Israel protests in Melbourne. JCCV president John Searle called on the police to stamp down harder on aggressive protesters. “There should not be blatant breaches of laws that are overlooked by the police or flagrantly ignored by the police.” (source) In other countries, displays of violence against Jews are common: Assaf, a 26-year-old Israeli architecture student Assaf said that he went to the police but was ignored, until he turned to the community rabbi and additional Jewish families for assistance. "We filed an official complaint with the police" said Chaim Amar, a 28-year-old medical student who serves as a security officer at the local synagogue. "Unfortunately, nothing came of it so far." For Assaf, life has yet to return to normal. "Only one lone Italian student came up to me and said that he was willing to testify to the police about what happened. All the rest - even the guy who shares my dorm room and witnessed the incident - saw everything but are afraid to be associated in the case." (source) Tragic that, because of Islam’s barbarity, the authorities just look away. But one brave student is finally standing up to the intimidation: On March 5, 2010, Jessica Felber, a twenty year old Jewish student at Berkeley, was Jessica Felber Defendants were fully aware that Zakharia, the SJP and similar student groups had been involved in other incidents on campus to incite violence against and intimidate Jewish and other students. Nevertheless, in clear dereliction of their legal responsibilities, Defendants took no reasonable steps to protect Ms. Felber and others. The Complaint charges that the assault was the result of the university having: (1) fostered and encouraged campus terrorist incitements by the SJP and the MSA) ; (2) turned a blind eye to the perpetrators of illegal activities; (3) failed to effectively discipline the MSA and SJP for their pro-terrorist programs, goals and conduct; despite having ample notice that such violence was foreseeable; and (4) failed to provide adequate security to prevent the violence, harassment and intimidation which occurred. Ignoring complaints from students about the poisonous climate on campus, defendants condoned, allowed and enabled groups such as the MSA and the SJP to threaten, harass and intimidate Jewish students and to endanger their health and safety. Their tolerance of the growing cancer of a dangerous anti-Semitic climate on its campuses, and their failure to take adequate measures to quell it, violated the rights of Ms. Felber’s and other students to enjoy a peaceful campus environment free from threats and intimidation. As the Complaint reminds us, the on-campus activities of the SJP and MSA … and the university’s failure to confront them – present a disturbing echo of the darkest period in history: the incitement, intimidation, harassment and violence carried out under the Nazi regime and those of its allies in Europe against Jewish students and scholars in the leading universities of those countries during the turbulent years leading up to and including the Holocaust. There is a genuine fear by Ms. Felber and other students of Jewish ancestry on campuses throughout the University of California system that the tragic lessons of history have not yet been learned by these defendants. They fear that the University of California campuses are no longer places of hope and dignity, of academic and personal freedom, or of peaceful life and personal safety. (source) About time someone stood up to the violent bullies, Marxist and Islamic! They should be prosecuted and those in authority who turn a blind eye, despite repeated complaints, must be held legally accountable. We must use Lawfare to ensure the rule of law is upheld. Always was and is. A council at the centre of a row over its boycott of Israel is facing new criticism after it admitted lending a notorious antisemitic book. West Dunbartonshire Council said it had bought a copy of The Protocols of the Elders of Zion in January, after a request from library member Ron Vallance, a Scottish Friends of Israel activist. The authority has been widely condemned by pro-Israel activists for its boycott and its apparent position of considering on a "book-by-book" basis whether or not to stock newly-released works by Israeli authors. Stanley Grossman, of Scottish Friends of Israel, said: "Even as councillors debate whether Israeli authors should be banned, blatantly antisemitic publications such as Hitler's Mein Kampf and The Protocols of the Elders of Zion are freely available or purchased on request at the council's libraries." West Dunbartonshire defended its lending of the book. A spokesman said: "This book, along with other infamous titles such as Mein Kampf, is available in public libraries within the UK as part of a commitment to provide open access to books that reflect freedom of speech and the broad range of viewpoints held in the public domain. There is no shortage of books in our collection that criticise titles such as The Protocols. A footnote to the catalogue record for this item advises users that the text is widely regarded as fraudulent propaganda." He said the council did not believe in censorship and would not be removing any books from its libraries' shelves. The Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals, the leading professional body for librarians, defended the council. Elaine Fulton, director of CILIP in Scotland, said: "If publicly available material has not incurred legal penalties, then it should not be excluded on moral, political, religious, racial or gender grounds, to satisfy the demands of sectional interest." Meanwhile, one of the councillors behind West Dunbartonshire's boycott said his resolve had been strengthened by attacks from pro-Israel groups. SNP councillor Jonathan McColl claimed he had received death threats from Israel advocates. The New York-based CiF Watch website is leading a Twitter campaign against the authority and Cllr McColl, claiming the council was "racist" for singling out Israel for boycott action. In an email to Jewish complainant Nigel Lawrence last week, Cllr McColl said "extremist idiots and nutters" had threatened to kill him. On his website on Monday, Cllr McColl wrote: "This boycott was in response to, and in support of, international media coverage two years ago, which showed Israeli forces murdering innocent women and children and firing rockets at civilian targets. "Hamas' use of hospitals and civilians as human shields is utterly despicable, but that does not give the Israeli government the right to kill those unfortunate enough to be used by this terrorist organisation." In the wake of the row, the council clarified what it called "highly misleading publicity" about the boycott. Videos of the event here. Intellectual Disgrace at Ohio University How completely has indoctrination and propaganda replaced rational discussion and intelligent debate in America's universities? We were reminded of just how bad things have gotten several weeks ago at Ohio University, when we were invited to screen and discuss our documentary on the Ground Zero mosque controversy, The Ground Zero Mosque: Second Wave of the 911 Attacks. While universities today idolize "diversity," they actively discourage the one kind of diversity that matters most: genuine diversity of opinion. We saw instead the effects of the stifling intellectual straitjacket that universities force upon students on all too many campuses. Joining us was our cinematographer, David Miles, who is an alumnus of Ohio University. But OU students and faculty were in no mood to discuss the issues our documentary raised: even before we arrived on campus, the student newspaper, The Post, ran a "review" of the film entitled "NYC mosque film inaccurate, bigoted." It was written by Brandon Kendhammer, an Assistant Professor of Political Science at OU. Kendhammer retailed libelous generalizations about us and about our work, without offering a single example of the inaccuracy and bigotry he purported to find in our film. Indeed, Kendhammer couldn't have given an example of those things even if he had wanted to. Why not? Because he had not even seen the film. Got that? The Post ran a review of the film written by someone who could not have seen it. With a fine Orwellian touch, Kendhammer claimed that we wished to undo America's legacy of religious freedom -- without explaining how opposing forces that would establish a law that institutionalizes discrimination against women and extinguishes the freedom of speech and the freedom of conscience amounts to opposing religious freedom, while fronting for this repressive ideology presumably amounts to supporting that freedom. In reality, we oppose the Islamic supremacist political agenda that supports elements of Sharia that are at variance with Constitutional freedoms; nothing in such a position involves any infringement on religious freedom. Kendhammer also warned students off the event. He strongly advised them not to attend the screening. It was particularly disappointing that in a university setting, which should be a center of open thought and free discourse, a professor would stoop to such tactics. Was he so insecure of his own position that he was afraid of opposing points of view? Was he fearful that people might be exposed to convincing arguments that he would not be able to answer, and so he had to resort to the suppression of his ideological opponents in a desperate attempt to mask his intellectual bankruptcy? It was ironic in the extreme that in the name of "tolerance," this professor would himself practice intolerance in smearing opposing points of view, and try to prevent Ohio University students from being exposed to a perspective that, quite obviously, opposed the ideological lockstep in which they were ordinarily forced to march. What was Kendhammer afraid of? That somebody might agree with us? It was noteworthy that many of those who attended the event and asked us questions had obviously taken their talking points from Kendhammer's article, and even proudly admitted that they would not consider our ideas even without having seen a frame of our film, or read a page of any of our books or websites. In any case, as a result of his smear piece, the event was not well attended. Those who did come were propagandists of the leftist and Islamic stripe. We were told only minutes before the event began that we would be part of a "panel" that included a keffiyeh-clad Muslim propagandist, Professor Ali Ziyati from Marietta College, and that his dhimmi leftist American wife, Jenny Nelson, an associate professor of media arts and studies at OU, would be the "moderator." She had Ziyati get up to speak immediately after the screening, whereupon he launched into a lengthy and mostly unintelligible tirade about "hate," while his wife looked on approvingly. So of course we each got up and responded, but the questioners were not interested in engaging alternative points of view. They were instead unanimously hostile, with most of the Muslim questioners trying to filibuster and shout down our answers. Go. Read the rest. And this is how Islam advanced and financed its wars and expansionism throughout Islamic history. We are in the era of jihad. The era of jihad has come over us, and jihad in the path of Allah is a pleasure. It is a real pleasure. The companions (of the Prophet) used to compete to (perform jihad). The poverty that we’re in—is it not due to our abandonment of jihad? But if we could conduct one, two, or three jihadist operations every year, many people throughout the earth would become Muslims. And whoever rejected this da’wa, or stood in our way, we would fight against him and take him prisoner, and confiscate his wealth, his children, and his women—all of this means money. Every mujahid who returned from jihad, his pockets would be full. He would return with 3 or 4 slaves, 3 or 4 women, and 3 or 4 children. Multiply each head by 300 dirhams, or 300 dinar, and you have a good amount of profit. If he were to go to the West and work on a commercial deal, he would not make that much money. Whenever things became difficult (financially), he could take the head (i.e. the prisoner) and sell it, and ease his (financial) crisis. He would sell it like groceries. BREAKING: Somali suicide bomber was from Minneapolis PJM Abdirahman Warsame at Terror Free Somalia informed us late last night that messages appearing on known al-Shabaab websites indicate that a suicide bomber who carried out on attack on AMISOM forces in Mogadishu on Monday was a Somali-American from the Minneapolis area. A twenty-two minute audio was posted on the Somali Memo website (article and audio have since disappeared) that included a segment of an English-speaking Somali speaker — apparently the suicide bomber — who encourages Muslims in the West to “die for their religion.” Another article on Somali Memo identifies the speaker as Asadullahi Axmed “al-Imriiki” (“the American”), a 25-year old-from Minneapolis. The news is quickly being picked up by other Somali online forums. The issue of radicalization and terror recruitment among Somali-American youths is an issue I’ve covered here at Pajamas Media since 2007 (long before it became fashionable for the establishment media). In November 2007, I wrote about a terror fundraiser and deputy of designated terrorist Sheikh Aweys, Zakaria Haji Abdi (who is now part of the Somali TFG government), who was scheduled to speak at several events in Minnesota and Virginia. Our pleas to Homeland Security officials to deny entry to the fundraiser fell on deaf ears and the event took place as planned. At the time I noted that during the Minneapolis event Abdi instructed the attendees how to send money through hawalanetworks without raising suspicions of authorities. Law enforcement authorities now concede that the November 2007 meeting I reported on was the tipping point for radicalization in the Minneapolis Somali community. The first group of Somali Americans to leave for jihad back in Somalia left shortly after the Minneapolis event. They were followed by a larger group of nearly two dozen young Somali men in November 2008. But in October 2008, just prior to the departure of the larger group, one Minneapolis man, Shirwa Ahmed, conducted a suicide bombing attack in northern Somalia — the first known case of an American suicide bomber. Several members of the November 2008 group have been confirmed killed fighting with al-Shabaab. Read the rest. I received this clipping from a reader in Egypt, attached with this note:
Have been reading your blog for a very long time, and really appreciate your effort. Always a good read, stuff I sometimes would rather forget, but really need to see.
The attached was from the Egyptian Gazzette, a truly worthless piece of crap, but a look at Egyptian thinking and stupidity. I live in Egypt, although probably not for long.
The situation here is changed from last year in some ways, but in reality, only security is changed. Security is gone, and everyone is scared. The perfect opportunity for the brotherhood to step in and take control. There really is no other option, anarchy or the brotherhood. The fools that started the revolution, have not a clue.
If you look at the past two Fridays, you can see it is over. The fools garnered maybe 10,000, the brotherhood easily 200,000 in the Tahir square.
The anti Jewish/Israel situation has not really changed. Israelis from my experience know more than I do about Egypt, while Egyptians are totally in the dark, and are afraid of Israel. It is a fear of the unknown as much as anything. You would laugh at the kind of conspiricy theories about Jews here. My favorite was the trained sharks that attacked Sharm last year, I just could not help but laugh whenever people brought it up. We are dealing with the truly ignorant.
Christians in Egypt will have what happened to Jews in the 50/60's happen to them. A slow but relentless push out.

Senior official admits to secret U.N. report on Sarajevo massacre
For the first time, a senior U.N. official has admitted the existence of a secret U.N. report that blames the Bosnian Moslems for the February 1994 massacre of Moslems at a Sarajevo market.
Yasushi Akashi, the Undersecretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and the former head of the U.N. mission in Bosnia, told the German Press Agency dpa that the secret report is "no secret."
An international outcry over the massacre, in which 68 civilians perished at Markale marketplace, led directly to a toughening of Western policy towards the Serbs, who were widely blamed for the incident.
But there have been persistent rumours at the United Nations ever since that a U.N. report clearly blamed the Moslems for firing on their own people in order to create international sympathy and get the West to fight on their side against the Serbs.
Until Thursday, U.N. officials strongly denied the report existed, even after it was quoted in press reports.
Akashi told dpa that not only did the first report exist, but that some journalists already had a copy. He said the details were in a 1995 story by U.S. journalist David Binder, who quoted from the confidential report.
According to Binder, the report said U.N. peacekeepers were prevented by Moslem police from entering the site in the aftermath of the explosion. No doctors were allowed on the scene and the 197 victims were carried away to hospital within 25 minutes.
After studying the crater left by the mortar shell and the distribution of the shrapnel, the report concluded that the shell was fired from behind Moslem lines. U.N. monitors reported no Serbian shelling that day from points near the marketplace.
The official U.N. report that was subsequently released said the evidence as to who fired the shell was inconclusive, since it originated from an area where Moslem and Serb lines were very close. The two reports represented divergent views, but the United Nations chose to publish the neutral report and keep the other secret.
The incident led to a NATO ultimatum to Bosnian Serbs to withdraw their heavy weapons from around Sarajevo.
At the time, Madeleine Albright, the U.S. ambassador to the U.N., said: "It's very hard to believe any country would do this to their own people, and therefore, although we do not exactly know what the facts are, it would seem to us that the Serbs are the ones that probably have a great deal of responsibility."
CORROBORATED IN THESE 3 CLOSING PARAGRAPHS OF THIS AKI REPORT from Dec. 2007:
Bosnian Serb leaders have claimed that the attack was engineered by Bosnian Muslim forces to lay blame on the Serbs and some UN officials in Bosnia have speculated that it may have been the case.
[Dragomir] Milosevic has argued that Muslim forces were entrenched in Sarajevo from where they shelled Serb positions, thus making the city a “legitimate target”.

British intelligence has hacked into an al-Qaeda online magazine and replaced bomb-making instructions with a recipe for cupcakes.
The cyber-warfare operation was launched by MI6 and GCHQ in an attempt to disrupt efforts by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsular to recruit “lone-wolf” terrorists with a new English-language magazine, the Daily Telegraph understands.
When followers tried to download the 67-page colour magazine, instead of instructions about how to “Make a bomb in the Kitchen of your Mom” by “The AQ Chef” they were greeted with garbled computer code.
The code, which had been inserted into the original magazine by the British intelligence hackers, was actually a web page of recipes for “The Best Cupcakes in America” published by the Ellen DeGeneres chat show.
Written by Dulcy Israel and produced by Main Street Cupcakes in Hudson, Ohio, it said “the little cupcake is big again” adding: “Self-contained and satisfying, it summons memories of childhood even as it's updated for today’s sweet-toothed hipsters.”
It included a recipe for the Mojito Cupcake – “made of white rum cake and draped in vanilla buttercream”- and the Rocky Road Cupcake – “warning: sugar rush ahead!”

EGYPT'S MUSLIM BROTHERHOOD LEADFER AL-QARADAWI: "[MODERATE MUSLIMS] ACCEPT OFFENSIVE JIHAD, AND ATTACKING THE INFIDELS IN THEIR LANDS"
Photo:Yusuf al-Qaradawi returned from Qatar to rally hundreds of thousands at Tahrir Square today in his first public speech since 1981.Al-Qaradawi: "[Moderate Muslims] Accept Offensive Jihad, and Attacking the Infidels in Their Lands" Translating Jihad (hat tip Marty)
The following is a translation from an excerpt of Shaykh Yusuf al-Qaradawi's Fiqh al-Jihad, which was posted on IslamOnline.net. Here al-Qaradawi defends the position of those he terms 'moderates' from attacks by 'extremists' who argue that moderates don't accept offensive jihad. Al-Qaradawi argues that to the contrary moderates do accept offensive jihad, including raids into enemy territory, and gives some reasons for which they would accept it.
This is interesting in light of statements of Muslim apologists and spokesmen in the West, who routinely argue that Islam really means an inner spiritual struggle against sin, but inasmuch as it does refer to warfare, it is purely defensive. But when you look at the justifications al-Qaradawi gives for offensive jihad, you find that by his definition even the 'moderate' Muslims accept offensive jihad against the infidels under almost any pretense.
Translated from IslamOnline.net, 8 January 2011 (I previously translated the first half of this article here):...I want to clarify here the difference between the moderates and extremists, or the "defensive (jihadists)" and "offensive (jihadists)", as they are called by some.
Some of the offensive (jihadists) have not been fair to those who hold the opposing view. They have put words in their mouths which they did not say, and accused them of that which they are innocent. They say: "They (the defensive jihadists) do not accept offensive jihad under any circumstance, in any form, or for any reason. They do not believe jihad is legitimate except in one condition, which is if Muslims are attacked in their homes and lands." This is how they depict the opinion of the moderates or the defensive (jihadists).
I think they are not being fair with the opposing side, and are not being precise or honest in presenting their views. Whoever reads their [i.e. the moderates'] opinions, will find that they accept offensive jihad, and attacking the infidels in their lands, for several reasons, including the following:
1- To ensure the freedom to propagate the call to Islam, to prevent fitna in the religion (of Islam), and to remove the physical obstacles which prevent the call to Islam from reaching the multitudes of people. This was the reason for the conquests of the rightly-guided (caliphs) and the companions (of the Prophet), as well as those who followed them in righteousness. (They fought) to remove the power of the tyrants who controlled the necks and minds of men, and who said what Pharaoh said to those of his people who believed (in Islam): "Have you believed before I gave you permission to believe?" This is the embodiment of the goal expressed in the saying of the Almighty: "Fight them on until there is no more fitna."
2- To ensure the security of the Islamic state and its borders, when they are threatened by the enemies (of the Islamic state) who lie in wait and conspire against it. This is what is termed in our present day "preemptive war." This is one of the prerogatives of the ruler, and is in accordance with the right to self-defense. Most of the Islamic conquests were of this type of preemptive war, after the Islamic state was attacked early during the reign of the Prophet by the two great kingdoms of Persia and Byzantium. The conflict with Byzantium began with the battles of Mu'ta and Tabuk, and the conflict with Persia began with Chosroes tearing up the Book of the Prophet (PBUH) [i.e. the Qur'an], and threatening what he threatened thereby.
3- To save the oppressed among Muslim prisoners, or those living in a minority status, who suffer afflictions, persecutions, and torture at the hands of the arrogant oppressors who rule over them without right. As the Most High said: "And why should ye not fight in the cause of Allah and of those who, being weak, are ill-treated (and oppressed)?- Men, women, and children, whose cry is: "Our Lord! Rescue us from this town, whose people are oppressors; and raise for us from thee one who will protect; and raise for us from thee one who will help!" [Qur'an 4:75].
If oppressed and persecuted peoples, even if they are not Muslims, seek aid from the Islamic state, and if the Islamic state possesses the ability to save them, then it should answer their cries and come to their aid. For conquering the unjust ruler, helping the weak, and deterring the oppressor from the oppressed is a religious duty under the shari'a. It is also a moral duty within every religion. Every society protects virtue, and safeguards high moral values, whether the oppressed is Muslim or non-Muslim.
4- To remove all polytheism from the Arabian Peninsula, which is considered a free and pure nation for Islam and its citizens. Therefore it is a special stronghold for Islam, whose protection is not shared with anyone.
By Allah, there is wisdom in this: the Hijaz and the Arabian Peninsula around it is the haven and incubator of this religion. Islam seeks refuge in it whenever trials afflictions are brought by different factions. History has confirmed for us its usefulness and importance throughout the ages through which the ummah has passed.
On this wise the verses from surat al-tauba were sent down on declaring immunity from (the contract with) the polytheists, and their delay of four months, during which time they wandered around the land [see Qur'an 9:1-3]. After which they had to choose for themselves: accept Islam, depart from this land [i.e. the Arabian Peninsula], or fight. These four months are those which are called forbidden because it was forbidden to fight during them. The Almighty said: "But when the forbidden months are past, then fight and slay the Pagans wherever ye find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem (of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and practise regular charity, then open the way for them: for Allah is Oft-forgiving, Most Merciful" [Qur'an 9:5]. Allah wanted the Arabs to choose to enter Islam before the four months had ended, and thus make the peninsula purely for Islam, and make the Arabs the band of Islam and its preliminary soldiers, to carry its message to the world.
This is Allah's favor for the Arabs, with what he favored them: the Qur'an was sent in their language, the Messenger was sent from them, and the Ka'ba and the Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Nabui are in their land. They have become the guardians of Islam, and the preachers to carry its call to the inhabitants of the world.

Humpty Obumpty and the Arab Spring By Spengler, June 1, Asia Times
I've been warning for months that Egypt, Syria, Tunisia and other Arab oil-importing countries face a total economic meltdown (see Food and failed Arab states, Feb 2, and The hunger to come in Egypt, May 10). Now the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has confirmed my warnings.
The leaders of the industrial nations waited until last weekend's Group of Eight (G-8) summit to respond, and at the initiative of United States President Barack Obama proposed what sounds like a massive aid program but probably consists mainly of refurbishing old programs.
The egg has splattered, and all of Obumpty's horses and men can't mend it. Even the G-8's announcement was fumbled; Canada's Prime Minister Steven Harper refused to commit new money, a dissonant note that routine diplomatic preparation would have pre-empted.
The numbers thrown out by the IMF are stupefying. "In the current baseline scenario," wrote the IMF on May 27, "the external financing needs of the region's oil importers is projected to exceed $160 billion during 2011-13." That's almost three years' worth of Egypt's total annual imports as of 2010. As of 2010, the combined current account deficit (that is, external financing needs) of Egypt, Syria, Yemen, Morocco and Tunisia was about $15 billion a year.
What the IMF says, in effect, is that the oil-poor Arab economies - especially Egypt - are not only broke, but dysfunctional, incapable of earning more than a small fraction of their import bill. The disappearance of tourism is an important part of the problem, but shortages of fuel and other essentials have had cascading effects throughout these economies.
"In the next 18 months," the IMF added, "a greater part of these financing needs will need to be met from the international community because of more cautious market sentiments during the uncertain transition."
Translation: private investors aren't stupid enough to throw money down a Middle Eastern rat-hole, and now that the revolutionary government has decided to make a horrible example of deposed president Hosni Mubarak, anyone who made any money under his regime is cutting and running. At its May 29 auction of treasury bills, Egypt paid about 12% for short-term money, to its own captive banking system. Its budget deficit in the next fiscal year, the government says, will exceed $30 billion.
And the IMF's $160 billion number is only "external financing"; that is, maintaining imports into a busted economy. It doesn't do a thing to repair busted economies that import half their caloric intake, as do the oil-poor Arab nations.
Egypt's economy is in free fall. Its biggest foreign exchange earner was a tourist industry that won't come back for a decade, if ever. The IMF's $160 billion doesn't take into account the costs of teaching two-fifths of the Egyptian population to read, or raising crop yields to more than a fifth of American levels, or training university graduates to do more than stamp identity cards and shuffle papers. As the international organization made clear, this is what Egypt and its neighbors require merely to pay for essential imports.
Of course, the IMF's admission that Egypt, Tunisia, Syria and Yemen can't meet the majority of their import bill without foreign aid does not increase the probability that these countries will obtain financing on that scale. On May 30, the IMF announced that it would lend $3 billion to Egypt - a tenth of its budget deficit - sometime in June. The G-8 offered the grandiose pledge of $20 billion in their own money along with $20 billion from the IMF, World Bank, and so forth, to support the "Arab Spring", with the dissension of the Canadian prime minister. But it is unclear whether that represents new money, or a shuffling of existing aid commitments, or nothing whatever.
Whatever the Group of Eight actually had in mind, the proposed aid package for the misnomered Arab Spring has already become a punching bag for opposition budget-cutters. "Should we be borrowing money from China to turn around and give it to the Muslim Brotherhood?" Sarah Palin asked on May 27.
"Now, given that Egypt has a history of corruption when it comes to utilizing American aid, it is doubtful that the money will really help needy Egyptian people. Couple that with the fact that the Muslim Brotherhood is organized to have a real shot at taking control of Egypt’s government, and one has to ask why we would send money (that we don't have) into unknown Egyptian hands," the former Republican vice-presidential candidate added.
Whether any amount of foreign aid will stabilize Egypt's economic position is questionable, even if the industrial nations and the Arab Gulf states opened their purses, which is doubtful.
From Arab-language online media, it appears that Egypt's economic troubles have metastasized. Last month, rice disappeared from public storehouses amid press reports that official food distribution organizations were selling the grain by the container on the overseas market. Last week, diesel fuel was the scarce commodity, with 24-hour queues forming around gasoline stations. Foreign tankers were waiting at Port Said on the Suez Canal to pump diesel oil from storage facilities, as government officials sold the scarce commodity for cash.
This is the sort of general breakdown I observed in 1992 in Russia, following the collapse of the communist government. As an adviser to finance minister Yegor Gaidar, I heard stories of Russian officials selling unregistered trainloads of raw materials on foreign markets and depositing the proceeds in Swiss banking accounts. Anything of value that could find a buyer overseas was sold. I didn't last long as an adviser; looting and pillaging wasn't my area of competence. Russia, it should be recalled, is largely self-sufficient in food and is among the world's largest oil producers, while Egypt imports half its food. Russia had enormous resources on which to draw. Egypt, Syria and Tunisia have nothing.
For 60 years, the Egyptian army and associated crony capitalists ran the economy as a private preserve. Although the army remains in nominal charge, the public humiliation of Mubarak serves notice on the previous masters of Egypt's little universe that they are as vulnerable as their former patron. Everyone who can get out will and will take with them whatever they can.
Syria is also vulnerable to hunger, the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) warned May 23. "Continuing unrest in Syria will not only affect economic growth but could disrupt food distribution channels leading to severe localized shortages in main markets," according to the FAO. ''Syria hosts one of the largest urban refugee populations in the world, including nearly one million Iraqis who have become more vulnerable because of rising food and fuel prices."
Nearly 700,000 Libyan refugees have reached Libya and Egypt, fleeing their country's civil war. At least 30,000 Tunisian refugees (and likely many more) have overwhelmed camps in Italy, and perhaps a tenth of that number have drowned in the attempt to reach Europe. A large but unknown number of Syrian refugees have fled to Lebanon and Turkey.
Robert Fisk wrote in the London Independent on May 30 that Turkey fears a mass influx of Syrian Kurdish refugees, so that "Turkish generals have thus prepared an operation that would send several battalions of Turkish troops into Syria itself to carve out a 'safe area' for Syrian refugees inside Assad's caliphate." The borders of the affected nations have begun to dissolve along with their economies. It will get worse fast. UNEMPLOYMENT SPIKES AGAIN
The McDonald’s fast-food chain may have been responsible for at least half the jobs created in the United States in May, according to numbers reported by MarketWatch.
Morgan Stanley calls it the “McDonald’s Effect,” according to MarketWatch’s Washington Bureau Chief Steve Goldstein — an estimate that as many of the 30,000 of the 54,000 jobs added in May were the result of a hiring binge by the hamburger chain, according to The Weekly Standard.MUSLIMS ATTACK JEWS AT UNIVERSITY OF MELBOURNE
“What AUJS was doing was a quiet, peaceful celebration. They ought not to feel scared to express their passion for being Jewish and being Zionist.”
Earlier this month, around 100 protesters marched through Melbourne’s CBD targeting Jericho cosmetics stores and Max Brenner cafes. It was part of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement, being pushed by pro-Palestinian groups.
Jewish artist Jane Korman… said the protesters – who she described as Anglo-Saxon and mostly university aged – were “quite abusive”.
Assaf, a 26-year-old Israeli architecture student, was eating at the cafeteria when Ibrahim Haji, a student from Gaza, came and began taunting him.
"He came towards me, punched me and said 'why are you looking at me?' I told him I wasn't looking at him, and asked him to let me eat in peace. A minute later he was back, swinging a fork, and called me in front of everyone to come outside while cursing Israel and declaring his intention to kill.
I understood that I have to avoid this dangerous situation. I told my Italian friends, who were eating with me, that I'm going back to my room so as not to respond to this provocation. On my way out I turned to the cashier and told her, 'Call the police. You heard the man threatening to kill,' and she responded, 'It's not my job to separate Jews and Arabs.'"
Assaf's attempt to distance himself from the fight failed. Ibrahim waited for him outside and went for the attack. As Assaf tried to defend himself, Italian passersby stepped in to intervene and held him back. Ibrahim took the opportunity to draw a large kitchen knife. The Italian students tried to stop him.
"I saw death in front of my eyes. I broke free and ran into the storage in the kitchen and locked myself in. After a few minutes more Muslim students arrived and began shouting 'Allahu Akbar' (God is great) and 'Itbach el Yahud' (slaughter the Jews). Later I understood that there are over 40 angry students there.
The Italians disappeared; they were scared to deal with them.
According to Amar, the police are familiar with Haji from previous violent incidents. It wasn't his first time threatening the life of an Israeli student, and he reportedly harasses female Israeli students regularly.
JOHN BOLTON ON HOW TO STOP THE "PALESTINE" STATEHOOD PLOY
Now that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his recent sparring partner Barack Obama are back in their corners, the next Arab-Israeli political flash point could be this fall at the U.N. General Assembly. The Palestinian Authority is lobbying Assembly members to legitimize its claim to international status as a "state."
Recognizing "statehood" does not mean U.N. membership, but it would nonetheless be a major Palestinian success. A resolution recognizing a Palestinian "state" could also declare its boundary to be the 1967 borders (in actuality, merely the 1949 armistice lines), with or without President Obama's caveat about "agreed upon swaps" of land.
The obvious Palestinian objective is to remove the issues of statehood and boundaries from the realm of bilateral negotiations with Israel, making them fait accompli. Last fall, the Palestinians focused on obtaining a Security Council resolution for this purpose. They believed, for whatever reason, that Mr. Obama would not order an American veto, as his predecessors would have done without hesitation. Many thought the administration might even vote "yes" rather than abstain.
When it became clear that U.S. opposition in the Security Council was likely, on statehood or on U.N. membership, Palestinian attention shifted to the General Assembly, where there is no veto. General Assembly resolutions are not legally binding, and that body has no authority to recognize states, although its actions can be politically powerful, as the 1975 "Zionism is racism" resolution demonstrated.
This is déjà vu all over again. In late 1988, Palestinians issued a "declaration of statehood," changing their U.N. observer delegation's name from "Palestine Liberation Organization" to "Palestine" to sound more like a state, which scores of countries recognized. The Palestinians then campaigned to join U.N. bodies like the World Health Organization, reasoning that since U.N. agency charters allow only states as members, the admission of "Palestine" would prove that it, too, was a state.
Ridiculous in the real world but not in the U.N., the PLO effort gained overwhelming support there. George H.W. Bush's new administration and Israel protested that "Palestine" manifestly did not meet customary international law definitions of statehood, such as having a clearly defined territory and exercising a government's legitimate domestic and international responsibilities. Third World countries rallied almost unanimously to the PLO, and Europe's response was weak. European diplomats believed Washington's opposition was merely pro forma due to the "Jewish lobby."
Faced with the near certainty of defeat, Secretary of State James Baker warned publicly: "I will recommend to the President that the United States make no further contributions, voluntary or assessed, to any international organization which makes any changes in the PLO's status as an observer organization."
No politician of Mr. Baker's skill would publicize his proposals unless he knew that the president would accept them, and this reality was rapidly understood internationally. Although defeating the PLO campaign required further maneuvering, Mr. Baker's statement was the death knell of the "statehood" push.
The lesson for today is plain. If President Obama wants to block a General Assembly Palestinian statehood resolution, he should act essentially as Messrs. Bush and Baker did. Yet Mr. Obama is highly unlikely to do anything so decisive, which is why many in America and Israel remain gravely concerned about this latest Palestinian diplomatic ploy.
Accordingly, we should turn to Congress, which has a rich history of dealing with U.N. actions it doesn't appreciate. Rather than wait for a Baker-like threat, Congress should legislate broadly that any U.N. action that purports to acknowledge or authorize Palestinian statehood will result in a cutoff of all U.S. contributions to the offending agency. If the General Assembly ignored this warning, all funds would be cut off to the bloated Secretariat in New York, but not to separate agencies like the World Health Organization, the International Atomic Energy Agency, and others with their own governing bodies and funding mechanisms.
The logic is the same today as it was in 1989. Moreover, our current federal budget deficits provide another attractive reason to reduce U.N. contributions. If political realities make it impossible to cut off funding completely, perhaps a partial reduction, say 50%, might be a suitable compromise.
Although the General Assembly will not convene again until September, there is no time to waste. Fatah's coalition with Hamas already provides statutory grounds (since the U.S. lists Hamas as a terrorist organization) to eliminate funding for the Palestinian Authority. Reducing U.S. funding to the U.N. is the next available, highly visible, target of opportunity. It presents the U.N. membership with a fascinating question: Would they rather recognize Palestinian statehood, or keep America's money?

THAILAND MASS MIGRATION DUE TO MUSLIM TERROR
Here in Thailand things are so bad that every quarter thousands (most likely tens of thousands) of non-Muslim (primarily Buddhist) Thai citizens in the south are abandoning homes, jobs, businesses, land holdings and generations of work to head for safer northern provinces. Their holdings are sold for a song to local Southern Muslims. This is the plan of the Muslim terrorists of course, and it's working. This forced mass migration of Buddhists and abandonment of property and homes in the south of Thailand is a part of terrorism story that is largely unreported in the local or international press.
I have no government sources to back up the numbers (thousands or tens of thousands) but this is not surprising as the government would not wish to acknowledge the huge demographic change in the south in the last few years as this would be an inconvenient truth (to borrow a phrase). You must also understand how the Thai national character sometimes prevents the telling of inconvenient truths. The abandoned homes and closed businesses tell the story though and any southern resident can recite a long list of friends and family already gone. Everybody wants out but it's difficult to leave assets and generations of attachment to the land and communities.
Yala Province public Thai schools are closed because all the teachers fled last year. All of them. The local Mosque schools are of course fully staffed and operating. The surging terrorist violence is readily apparent on Wikipedia where a fairly complete list of attacks shows that already in 2011 we have experienced 3 times the entire number of attacks for all 2010 but we're not even half way through the year.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/South_Thailand_insurgency
The world is not paying attention to the big picture story in Thailand because no one is pulling it all together. The world hears of an attack here or there, but nothing of the overall impact to the country and the southern Buddhists. There is a mass migration and population shift in progress but the story is not being told.

U.S. TO BOYCOTT DURBAN III RACISM CONFERENCE UPDATE: BUT US WILL ATTEND SECOND, RACIST U.N. HUMAN RIGHTS COUNCIL EVENT IN GENEVA "IN THE CONTEXT OF THE TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF THE DURBAN DECLARATION.”
Mr. Obama's latest lead-from-behind foreign policy move comes seven months after Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper's government first declared “we will not be part of this event, which commemorates an agenda that promotes racism rather than combats it.”
The decision appears to be a clear reaction to the negative political fallout surrounding Mr. Obama's recent veiled attempt to shove indefensible borders down Israel’s throat.
During Obama’s speech to the pro-Israel lobby group AIPAC on May 22, he specifically referred to his decision not to attend the “Durban II” or “Durban review conference,” which was held in Geneva in 2009. But he made no mention of of U.S. participation in the 2011 Durban III event, though it would have been an ideal audience for such an announcement had he already reached a decision on it.
In 2009 President Obama decided -- just 36 hours before the meeting began -- that there was something wrong with a conference on xenophobia and intolerance headlined by Iranian President Ahmadinejad.
It was a costly delay, which saved the U.N. from even more embarrassment, as many other states would have acted in tandem with the United States and boycotted Durban II with sufficient planning.
Evidently, on May 22 the president still thought he could pull the same dawdling stunt again.
But with Democrats scrambling to recover from the president’s profound alienation of large numbers of voters deeply sympathetic to Israel, the June 1 announcement was made and dressed up as a response to a letter “from Democratic Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand.” The old letter from last December was actually signed by 9 Democrats, 8 Republicans, and 1 independent, and post-dated a boycott call of the racism summit made by Republican Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen in November.
The better-late-than-never decision is not as simple, however, as it seems.
First, the U.N. General Assembly is currently negotiating a resolution on the “modalities” of Durban III. In plain English, there has been a difficult and protracted debate behind-the-scenes about the organization of the summit. The European Union, in particular, is looking for procedural dodges that will help it avoid the split that occurred during Durban II, when some EU states boycotted and others did not.Unfortunately for EU pencil-pushers, there is no escaping that the substance of the meeting is irrevocably poisoned.
By virtue of a 2010 General Assembly resolution, the purpose of Durban III is to celebrate a world conference that reveled in anti-semitism and to adopt a final declaration that reaffirms the original Durban Declaration. That’s the Declaration supposedly to combat racism, xenophobia and related intolerance but that somehow manages to charge just one of the 192 UN members with racism, namely, Israel.
The Obama administration has given no indication that it will encourage EU allies to break ranks and boycott Durban III, by insisting on a vote on this resolution and voting against.
Second, the U.N. Human Rights Council is poised to hold an event in Geneva on June 15 also “in the context of the tenth anniversary of the Durban Declaration.” With the Obama administration on the Council it appears set to attend events over there hoping nobody will notice over here.
But the Council and U.N. High Commissioner Navi Pillay – a native of Durban and chief champion of the Durban Declaration – have planned a three-hour panel discussion featuring seven carefully-selected speakers. They include, for instance, extremist Mireille Fanon-Mendes. As recently as April 25 of this year, Fanon-Mendes told the “Electronic Intifada” that Israel was an apartheid state and she supported the first and second Palestinian intifadas as well as blockade-running flotillas and the international prosecution of Israelis as war criminals.
The Durban illness runs deep. The U.N. human rights system, led by the High Commissioner and Human Rights Council, has perverted the fight against racism into a fight against the Jewish state, a democratic freedom-loving home to more than a million Arabs and a bulwark against the ravages of anti-semitism for all Jews.
Remember that the streets of Durban pulsated with signs reading “for the liberation of Quds, machine guns based on FAITH and ISLAM must be used” and “the martyr’s blood irrigates the tree of revolution in Palestine,” while the gross intolerance inside the Durban meeting halls ended on September 8, 2001. Given the inextricable connection between hate and violence, shunning Durban III on September 22 in New York City just days after the tenth anniversary of 9/11 was a no-brainer.
Now comes the hard part. U.N. demonization of Israel serves to justify Palestinian rejection of negotiations and coexistence, which in turn fuels U.N. support of a unilateral declaration of Palestinian statehood.
The cycle will only be broken if Palestinians and their U.N. enablers are made to face real consequences for attempting to reap the rewards
