It's all Islam all the time, folks, as America's first Muslim-born-and-reared, Third World-American President focuses his energy--and America's precious resources--on promoting oxymoronic Islamic democracy and "moderate" Islamism (concepts akin to Communist/Nazi/fascist democracy and moderate Communism/Nazism/fascism).
It's all about building up--and manipulating--"the Muslim world" and "the Arab Street," not saving and rebuilding your world and Main Street. Not even Wall Street, although Obama naturally needs and wants Wall Street money to win a second term (God forbid).
Daniel Greenfield: "Never again. To Jews it means a refusal to give genocidal bigots another go at them. To Obama, it means refusing to ever again have to listen to an Israeli leader explain why his country cannot commit territorial suicide in order to appease a gang of genocidal bigots. "

An unnecessary intervention--on the side of suspect rebels with Islamist ties--and Congress is finally growing restless. Read all about it here.
Amid reports that Pakistan is punishing people for helping the United States fight Al Qaeda--i.e. arresting CIA informants who aided the Bin Laden raid--the Chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives Intelligence Committee says elements of Pakistan's military and intelligence services certainly provided Bin Laden with assistance. Reporting in May 2006 on China, Chavez, and Humala, Foreign Confidential™ -- then called China Confidential -- offered this analysis:
In Latin America, the Chinese strategy is to avoid angering Washington while forging closer economic and even military relationships in the region--historically seen as within the US sphere of influence. In terms of national leaders, the ideal partner for China is a popular--but properly cautious--center-left leader. The presidents of Argentina, Brazil, and Chile fit the mold, as does Peru's Alan Garcia, who is favored to win the second and final run-off round in his country's presidential elections early next month.
Garcia's opponent, ultranationalist former army officer (and failed coup plotter) Ollanta Humala, who won a plurality in the first round, is exactly the sort of figure that China would like to avoid as it goes about its business in America's backyard. A populist demagogue, Humala is linked to a grassroots, family-run Incaist movement that promotes a racist ideology and hatred of "US imperialism."
The Chinese have taken a dim view of Humala from the outset of his campaign; but his recent plunge in popularity has Beijing's attention because the fall seems to have been accelerated by Hugo Chavez. The Venezuelan leader's strident support for Humala is seen as a kiss of death. According to a recent opinion poll, only 17 percent of Peruvians said they had a positive view of Chavez, whose threats to break off diplomatic relations with the Andean nation in the event of a Garcia victory pushed Peru's outgoing government to cut ties first.
"China would like to have its cake and eat it, too," a former foreign ministry official in Caracas told China Confidential. "China wants Venezuela's oil, but it does not want to be overly identified with Chavez. He is a crude embarrassment--no pun intended."
Ollanta Humala has cancelled a scheduled trip to Venezuela, at least for now, and has declared that his country is a strategic ally of the United States in its struggle against drug trafficking. The president-elect has met with Peru’s leading businessmen, and it seems that the meeting has had a soothing effect on capital.
Simultaneously, the lieutenant colonel asked Álvaro Vargas Llosa to travel to China, Japan, Washington and Brussels to still the financial waters, acting as a sort of provisional foreign minister. Oddly enough, the Chinese love the idea that Peru stays on the capitalist road, far from the rabid Third-World hooliganism of the ALBA alliance of nations led by Venezuela. It is always easier to conduct mutually satisfactory transactions with law-abiding states ruled by the market than with the tumultuous tribe of the unpredictable “revolutionaries.”
Is Humala's shift genuine, or is he simply playing a part--pulling Peruvian (alpaca and vicuna) wool over foreign and domestic eyes--in order to win time and calm nervous powers? Time will tell.
Yes. Turkey's ruling Islamist party, the AKP, which won the country's national elections but fell far short of attaining the parliamentary supermajority needed to unilaterally rewrite Turkey's military-era constitution, is determined to intensify the Islamizing trend, even as regime mouthpieces and apologists assure Europeans and Americans that the AKP remains committed to a "moderate" course.
But there are still many powerful people in Turkey--including, most importantly, men in uniform, traditional guardians of the country's secular system--who are capable of resistance. More important, nearly half of Turkey is still more secular than religiously observant. So there is a constant potential for violent conflict, contrary to the rosy reports emanating from mainstream media outlets.
Straddling Europe and Asia, AKP-ruled Turkey is a NATO member and a model, according to the Obama administration, of "Islamic democracy." Having failed to align with nuclear-arming Islamist Iran in order to pacify Afghanistan and double-dealing, nuclear-armed Pakistan, the administration is now betting on double-dealing, Islamizing Turkey to pacify Tehran's mad mullahs and their rising Lebanese proxy, Hezbollah, and embattled ally, Syria. The administration believes that a Turkish-pacified Iran will in turn pacify Afghanistan and the Taliban and Pakistan ... and an even more powerful and internationally respected Turkish Islamocracy will inspire moderation among the Islamist maniacs rising up in Egypt ... and a new Middle East dominated by Turkey ... a "moderate" Islamist neo-Ottoman empire of some sort ... could influence all of Central Asia ... and serve as a sword (of organized Islam) against Russia and China .... in sync with history's moral (Islamic) arc, of course ... and ... and.... You get the picture.
And it's ugly. It's all about manipulating political Islam--the foundation and primary focus of the Obama administration's utterly failed and potentially catastrophic foreign policy.
