Dear Editor:
David Kirkpatrick’s article in the Sunday, May 29th
edition of the New York Times refers to the joy which people are experiencing from the lifting of Egypt’s blockade of Gaza. There was not one word in the article about the fact that there never would have been a blockade, if Hamas had not launched thousands of missiles against Israel and if they had not dug a tunnel to kill and kidnap Israeli soldiers.
Israel since its inception has helped many countries throughout the world in agriculture, irrigation, communications, medical facilities, etc. Is it not reasonable to assume that if the surrounding countries had cooperated with a newly created Israel in 1948 instead of attacking her, there could have been 65 years of peace and growth rather than death and destruction?
Respectfully submitted,
William K. Langfan
