Israel Must Exert its Power

Laura: Israel must stop acting like a victim. It must not wait for a green light from Washington to defend itself or leave itself at the mercy of a cruel and hostile international community which will never under any circumstances back an Israeli military response no matter the extent of atrocities its enemies inflict upon it . Israel must start behaving like a powerful and proud sovereign nation which ruthlessly deals with those who bring harm to or attempt to bring harm to its citizens. Stop the childish desire to be liked and focus on being feared and respected.

By Victor Sharpe

The world and the national and international mainstream media are eerily silent when Israel and her civilian population are attacked by missiles from Gaza or Lebanon and her people slaughtered by Palestinian terrorists as just occurred.

But if she retaliates, oh my, the same immoral world and mass media scream and condemn her for daring to resist and a...

Good News, Israel

Compliments of Anglo Saxon Ra’anana

Quote for the Week

“The social graph is very simple here. Everybody knows everybody”

Yossi Vardi, one of Israel´s legendary business ambassadors. It certainly helps in time of stress. See below.

How does a country react under fire? Well if it’s Israel that you have in mind the answer is, rather well. Now it’s no secret that things are hotting up in the south and we’ll have a look at the way the country is maintaining its balance and equilibrium under a situation of obvious stress. So, first

Most of Israel’s leading tourist attractions are offering southern residents free entrance in the coming week, in a bid to help them to have a break from the goings on down there. The Israel Nature and Parks Authority, for example, offers southern residents free entrance to a number of national parks and nature reserves in the eastern Negev and central Israel. This is Israel at its best.

Glenn Beck’s revealing visit

By Caroline B. Glick, JWR

American media superstar Glenn Beck’s visit to Israel this week was a revealing and remarkable event. It revealed what it takes to be a friend of Israel. And it revealed the causes of Israel’s difficulty in telling its enemies from its friends.

Many world leaders, opinion shapers and other notables profess enduring friendship with Israel. From Washington to London, Paris to Spain, policymakers and other luminaries preface all their remarks to Jewish audiences with such statements. Once their declarations are complete — and often without taking a breath — they proceed to denounce Israel’s policies and deny its basic rights.

US President Barack Obama exemplifies this practice. Obama always begins his statements on Israel by proclaiming his enduring friendship for Israel. Then he tells us to deny Jewish property rights, accept indefensible borders, or desist from defending ourselves from aggression.

The Israeli Left habitually...

Beckaphobia

By Prof Steven Plaut

Israeli leftists have long had an intense hatred towards American
conservatives. This is in spite of the fact that American
conservatives are almost all pro-Israel. On second though, the hatred
of Israeli leftists towards them is precisely BECAUSE they are
pro-Israel.

Israeli leftists insist that Israel should only allow itself to be
befriended by foreign leftists. Never mind that the search for
pro-Israel foreign leftists is about as productive as the search for
human life on other planets. The Left outside of Israel is almost
entirely anti-Israel and anti-Semitic, and foreign liberals are by and
large (although not entirely) anti-Israel. Israeli leftists want
foreign pro-Israel conservatives to be regarded as persona non grata
by Israel. A few years back, Amiram Goldblum, a professor at the
Hebrew University and a founder of Peace Now, called upon Israel to
prevent American evangelist Christians from entering...

Rep Allen West stands by Israel

By HERB KEINON, JPOST

Allen West doesn’t move through the lobby of Jerusalem’s David Citadel like most of the other 20 or so freshmen congressmen in his delegation visiting Israel – anonymously, with no one really knowing the difference between them and the regular tourists.

No, West walks through the lobby almost like a rock star – not the world’s most famous rock star, but one that enough people have seen, and heard, to attract attention.

“Excuse me,” a seemingly star-struck woman in her late 20s-early 30s bursts out, interrupting the interview with West in a semi-isolated corner of the hotel. “I love you so much,” she gushes, “thank you for coming.” Then she bends down to give the Republican congressman from South Florida a hug around the neck.

And she is not alone. Some four other people stopped West, introduced themselves and wished him well in the two minutes it took to meet him in the hotel and find a private place to sit.

The attention is not...

Why do American Jews vote for Obama?

They prefer abortion, gay marriage, no guns, no school prayer and Palestinian rights over Israel and Jewish rights. Ted Belman

Op-ed: Israel resumes pinpoint eliminations of terrorists, the most effective anti-terror weapon

Alex Fishman, YNET

Since last Thursday there has been a change in the IDF’s modus operandi in the Gaza Strip. The political leadership granted the army and Shin Bet much more leeway and much more flexibility with regard to undertaking pinpoint eliminations of wanted terrorists: Whether they are ticking time bombs or hostile parties planning to perpetrate terror attacks at a later point.

Hamas sought a ceasefire, albeit nothing was put down in writing, and Israel rushed to establish the substance of this truce. One of its principles, as of today, is that if they fire rockets we will return to pinpoint eliminations according to a master list, along the same lines of the fugitive lists in the days of the Second Intifada.

Since Operation Cast Lead Israel has refrained from executing pinpoint eliminations against terror group leaders. Israel has also refrained from eliminations of...

The Palin Doctrine revisited

Governor Palin and the Return of Jacksonian Foreign Policy

by Whitney Pitcher, Conservatives4palin

In May, Governor Palin gave a speech at a “Tribute to the Troops” event at Colorado Christian University. As part of this speech, Governor Palin outlined a clear vision of American military policy, which has now become known as the Palin doctrine by many:

There’s a lesson here then for the effective use of force, as opposed to sending our troops on missions that are ill-defined. And it can be argued that our involvement elsewhere, say in Libya, is an example of a lack of clarity. See, these are deadly serious questions that we must ask ourselves when we contemplate sending Americans into harm’s way. Our men and women in uniform deserve a clear understanding of U.S. positions on such a crucial decision. I believe our criteria before we send our young men and women—America’s finest—into harm’s way should be spelled out clearly when it comes to the use of our military...

Israel must act regardless of the lack of “international legitimacy.”

We will never have international legitimacy. Our only choice is to proceed without it or seek it as we are currently doing. Ted Belman

White flag over Gaza...
By MARTIN SHERMAN

Political correctness has precluded the pursuit of strategic imperatives; Israel can no longer credibly deter terrorists.

We cannot go on as we are… to remain at peace when you should be going to war may be often very dangerous. The tyrant city… is a standing menace to all…. Let us attack and subdue her, that we may ourselves live safely for the future.

Thucydides, The History of the Peloponnesian War, Book I, paragraph 124, 431 BCE

If you will not fight when your victory will be sure and not too costly, you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with the all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival

    – W.S. Churchill, The Second World War (Vol. I – The Gathering Storm), 1949

The strategic wisdom encapsulated in these...
