The Egyptian people will see their former president Hosni Mubarak, 83, for the first time since his overthrow on Feb. 11 when he goes on trial Wednesday, Aug. 3, before television cameras with his two sons, the former Interior Minister Habib al-Adli and six other senior officers. The charges against the ex-president could carry the death penalty. It is not clear if the gravely ill Mubarak will be permitted to make a dignified appearance in court or a humiliating one.
