Obama is an awful President; but there is no denying that Bush failed to defeat Al Qaeda and the Taliban--Nixon would have nuked the bastards--and needlessly invaded Iraq, a contained, secular enemy with no WMD and no meaningful AQ connections, and that the result of this monumental strategic blunder has been to transform Iraq into an Iranian satellite and an Islamist killing ground while providing the monstrous Taliban with an opportunity to retake Afghanistan.
In the context of "democracy promotion," the Bush administration also prevented Turkey's military from crushing the country's Islamist menace when that was still a practical option and paved the way for Hamas to take over Gaza. But that's another story.
