Right to Know Campaign – Act Now

A parliamentary debate on the need for independent abortion counselling is expected to be held on Tuesday 6th September.

Earlier this week, Prime Minister David Cameron and Health Secretary Andrew Lansley indicated that they supported the idea of independent counselling. However, they appear to have buckled under pressure from the pro-abortion lobby and are no longer backing the amendment laid by Nadine Dorries and Frank Field to facilitate this.

This is the moment to act. We need to make the Government and MPs aware of how important this issue is and the level of public support for the amendment.

Please e-mail your MP, let them know about the debate and urge them to vote in favour of the amendment.

Respond to the Equalities and Human Rights Commission's (EHRC) Consultation

As previously noted, the EHRC announced that it would no longer promote the principle of ‘reasonable accommodation' for religious conscience when intervening in four religious liberty cases before the European Court of Human Rights.

The EHRC is running a consultation which ends on 5 September, seeking people’s views on their intervention in the European cases.

It is vital that the EHRC is made aware of the strength of the voice of the Christian community and how many of us want to see Christian freedoms protected.

Please respond to the consultation here.

The consultation is technical and we suggest you simply tell the EHRC that:

  • You support Christian Concern’s response.
  • Reasonable accommodation should be made for Christian conscience in the public sphere.
  • You are dismayed that the EHRC consistently intervenes against the right to manifest Christian beliefs.
  • You would like to see them take a more robust role in defending Christian freedoms.

Published in the prestigious British Journal of Psychiatry, the ground breaking paper also found that almost 10% of all mental health problems are shown to be directly linked to abortion.
