Forgotten News from the Wilderness of Mirrors: MI6 Allegedly Once Hired Al Qaeda Terrorist Anas al-Liby to Kill Libya's Leader

Britain's famed spy service, MI6, is believed to have once hired one of the world's most wanted terrorists, Anas al-Liby, to assassinate Libya's lunatic leader, Muammar Gaddafi. More about Libyan-born al-Liby over here.

Click here to read an archived article about the affair.

And click here and here to read about Gaddafi's link to MI6, Sir Mark Allen, the man who brought Gaddafi in from the cold, to use a term made popular by the master of espionage fiction, John le Carre. Sir Mark is a character who could have walked straight out of a le Carre spy novel.

To recap, Britain, like the United States, was against Gaddafi--for good reason--and then for him before finally turning against him. Hmm....

So many secrets. What do they all mean? One hopes for answers before 2014, the 50th anniversary of the publication of le Carre's great, game changing work, The Spy Who Came in From the Cold.
