GMC to continue investigation into Christian Doctor

The GMC has decided today to continue pursuing the case against Dr Richard Scott, the GP accused by a patient of sharing his faith in a consultation, despite the complainant not turning up to the hearing this week and showing an ‘unconditional disinclination to attend’.

Dr Scott was therefore not able to cross-examine the complainant on what was allegedly said between the two individuals in the consulting room, denying Dr Scott any meaningful justice.

Standing Counsel to the Christian Legal Centre, Paul Diamond, called for the case to be ‘struck out’, but the GMC has, incredibly, decided to continue to pursue the case and it has now been adjourned so that attempts can be made to persuade the witness to attend.

Government wants homosexual ‘marriage’

The government has announced plans to introduce full homosexual ‘marriage’ before 2015, with the strong personal backing of Prime Minister David Cameron.

A consultation will be launched next March which is to be followed by a planned change in the law. The legislation would enable homosexual couples to get ‘married’ in registry offices in exactly the same way that heterosexual couples can.

At Christian Concern we will be completely opposing this move, which has huge consequences for marriage, the family and society; and worrying implications for freedom of belief and speech.

Send Postcard to Prime Minister

Four cases relating to Christian freedoms are to be heard shortly by the European Court of Human Rights. These include two CLC clients: Shirley Chaplin, the nurse who was asked to remove the cross she had worn since her confirmation; and Gary McFarlane, the counsellor who had a possible conscientious objection to providing sex therapy to homosexual couples.

The Prime Minister needs to make a statement on the cases to the European Court by 30th September.

Please contact the Prime Minister by sending him one of our postcards, which ask him to support the cases.

Please try and send your postcards by 22nd September (but postcards sent after this date will still be noted).

If you need more postcards contact us by email (admin@christianconcern.com), with your address and number of postcards you would like, and we will do our best to get them to you.
