International Christian Zionist Center Join Our List Quick Links Newsletter Archive About the ICZC Israel My Beloved Jerusalem Newswire Jerusalem Watchman 15 September 2011 URGENT STATEMENT If there is any authenticity in the American president's oft-repeated steadfast commitment to the wellbeing and security of its ally, Israel, the White House should be amenable to an Israeli request that it issue an unequivocal statement along the following lines: In light of the most recent menacing developments in the Middle East, the President of the United States hereby declares that any attack on our most faithful ally, Israel - whether by Iran or by any alliance of forces from Turkey, Egypt, Syria, Lebanon or the Gaza Strip-based Hamas - will be considered an attack on the United States. Full stop. Only a stance of such resolve will prove that the US president means what has often been so glibly said. This would be the clearest and healthiest message to send to this troubled region; before Mahmoud Ahmadinejad even thinks of aiming a nuclear bomb at Israel, or Syria's embattled Bashar Assad dreams of sending his VX nerve gas-tipped Scuds to Tel Aviv, or Lebanon's Hizbollah unleashes its huge arsenal of medium and long range rockets from the north while Hamas unloads from the south! It may make Turkey (a NATO country!) and today's Egypt think twice about joining a massive assault on little Israel IF they know that an attack on Israel would be seen by the American president - and hopefully other Western leaders - as an attack on the United States and the still free West! May those who are really determined to ensure that the Jewish people - now in Israel - are not exterminated again make this minimum demand on their nations! Former New York City mayor Ed Koch dared ask this simple question in relation to the ominous threat that is also building up from Turkey and even Egypt: "Will the President and the Congress send a message to Turkey and Egypt that an attack upon Israel will be viewed as an attack upon the US?" Yes, thank God for Jews like Ed Koch. May there be many more Jews, as well as many concerned Christians, who will dare make this emphatic demand on their leaders and representatives, I pray!
