Hackgate and police corruption lack of arrests

We are very excited to announce the inaugural release of Globaleaks. Accompanying the release is a hands on demonstration of Globaleaks showcasing both the technical aspects and our methodology. While functional, at this time the demo is a working development version, or alpha version and not yet ready for deployment. GlobaLeaks is the first Open Source Whistleblowing Framework. It empowers anyone to create their own Whistleblowing platform. It is also a collection of best practices for anyone receiving and submitting material. GlobaLeaks is built from the ground up to serve in all environments including: media, activism, corporations, public agencies. Globaleaks is an independent group of hackers and developers creating free whistleblower software from all over the world. It aims to remain independent of sponsorship that might influence its chosen methodology and goals. Globaleaks is not the new WikiLeaks. While they provide services, we are an open sour ce software development project. We are an open community of developers avoiding the opaque organizational structure adopted by the majority of groups serving the whistleblowing community. Developers wanted for Globaleaks. Come and hack with us! One Click Note: The Globaleaks free and open source software of how to create your own whistleblowing platform is very free speech interesting indeed. Give a man a freedom of information fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish on this issue and you feed him and everyone else for a lifetime.

Science is central to every aspect of our everyday lives and our wellbeing, be it to do with climate change, GMOs (genetically modified organisms), nuclear energy, mobile telephony, or the tens of thousands of chemicals to which we are constantly exposed in our homes, workplace, and the general environment. Science, as much as the arts and the humanities, needs to be thoroughly integrated into the social, cultural and political life of society; and science literacy is the key to a truly democratic society in which everyone can participate in making important decisions on science and science policies. Integrating science in society and promoting public understanding is all the more important as science has been co-opted by big corporations more intent on profit than serving the public good, with scant regard for safety or sustainability. It has become increasingly difficult for people to get reliable and critical scientific information for society to decid e not only the technologies to adopt, but more importantly, the scientific research to support, based on its social, ethical, environmental or aesthetic merit. There is a widespread and mistaken assumption that science is neutral or ‘value-free’ and hence beyond reproach, so it is only the technology arising from the science that can be good or bad.

The debate about vaccination in the 21st century is not just about the science and whether vaccines and vaccine policies are a safe and effective way to keep individuals and populations truly healthy. It is also part of an historic power struggle between parents and doctors about whether doctors or anyone else in society should have the legal right to give children a pharmaceutical product or medical treatment that carries a risk of injury or death without the parent's voluntary, informed consent. In America, there is no legal liability or responsibility for drug companies selling or doctors giving government recommended vaccines when those vaccines injure or kill children or adults.

Ex MP Margaret Moran

A former Labour MP who claimed for dry rot treatment on a home more than 100 miles from her constituency, as well as claiming for properties in London and Luton, will be charged with fiddling her expenses by more than £60,000. Margaret Moran, one of the last politicians investigated over the scandal, will appear before magistrates, facing 21 charges relating to her parliamentary claims. A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "A small number of cases remain subject to assessment and investigation and will be considered by the Met Police and CPS assessment panel as appropriate."

Sir Stuart Bell MP (Email: contact@stuartbellmp.org)
Sir Stuart Bell, the Middlesbrough MP who has not held a constituency surgery for 14 years, today faces fresh questions over his dedication to voters after a Gazette investigation. Unlike most MPs, Sir Stuart does not have an office open in the town, and does not hold regular meetings with residents. He says he meets with members of the public by appointment instead, and says people can reach him at any time by telephone. To test the claim, the Gazette has been making daily calls to Sir Stuart’s Westminster office and Middlesbrough home over the course of several months. Despite making a total of 100 calls, no one ever answered. Sir Stuart is paid an annual salary of £65,738 to serve as the town’s MP, and claimed £82,896 for staffing costs last year. Wife Lady Margaret was paid more than £35,000 to work as his office manager. But no-one appears to be available to answer the phone. Members of the public tell us that he often d oes not reply to emails, letters or calls. Sir Stuart regularly faces criticism from residents who have tried, but failed, to get his help.

Michael O'Donnell, Chief Medical Officer of Atos Healthcare
Why is David Cameron's appointment of Mike O’Donnell as Chief Medical Officer of Atos health care in March of this year being a brilliant example of giving people a second chance a la Andy Coulson of News of the World fame? For those of you who don’t know, Mike O’Donnell was also Chief Medical Officer of Unum from March 2000 to September 2010 with this being the period when Unum were dragged through the US courts in a massive class action where the California Department of Insurance Commissioner, John Garamendi, stated that, “Unum Provident is an outlaw company. It is a company that has operated in an illegal fashion for years”. By 2007, the American Association for Justice identified Unum Provident as, “The second worst insurance company in the US”, and the company was fined over $30 million dollars for this. They were even, until 2008, banned from carrying out business in over 13 US st ates, something Unum is now using their complex business structure to deny was anything to do with them as a company, with them saying it was somebody else called Unum. (A bit like the ridiculous not guilty claims you hear of where despite being clearly identified by several eye witnesses the accused says, “It wasn’t me Guv, it was my twin brother” in court), with all this happening on the watch of, yes, the same Mike O’Donnell. Who next are we going to get at the helm of other private companies the government bring in to implement their policies you may ask? Peter Sutcliffe, (The Yorkshire Ripper), heading up a private company to sort out the problem of prostitution in our society? You couldn’t make it up, could you?
