We have all heard the question – does life imitate art, or art imitate life? Here is a 105 second video clip from the 1961 epic movie “El Cid.” Recall that in 1961 relatively few in the West, studied Islam, knew the history of Islamic conquest and its unchangeable ideology. In this clip from 50 years ago we hear a statement, that could have been made yesterday or today by any of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood, Hezbollah in Lebanon, Hamas in Gaza, the Taliban in Afghanistan, the mullahs in Iran and by the successors of Osama bin Laden heading the myriad of Al Qaeda offshoots globally. That brings to mind another famous saying: “The more things change, the more they remain the same.” The pertinent section starts at 1:15 and ends at about 3:00 .
