“I got it wrong”
Prezza In Foot-In-Mouth Hypocrisy Shocker
Now Guido doesn’t like to be po-faced; people can say what they like really, but he can’t stand hypocrisy. The lyrical John Prescott said of the English language in 2008:
“It’s something I’ve not mastered – the language or the grammar – and that’s caused a problem for me. It goes back to the education. Secondary modern school education wasn’t the greatest, but there were lots of people who learned the grammar – I didn’t. It’s often used as part of my characterisation – mangle the language. If you take my speech on “one member one vote”, I’ve never been able to watch it. Once, when I just saw it on the news and I could see the language wasn’t right, I felt a little ashamed of it.”
You would think then that he wouldn’t be so willing to mock someone else with a bit of a speech impediment:
Especially not an MP educated at Aston Comprehensive School…

70% of the Public Want a Vote
As the Honourable Members go through the division lobbies at ten o’clock tonight they will be voting against the will of the public. Even the Guardian say so…
Their ICM poll conducted this week says that 70% want a referendum. 49% want to leave the EU. Empirical proof that our political class are not representing the people…
Tory PPS Falls At Dave’s Feet
Despite what is said to have been a bloody affair, only one PPS, Stewart Jackson, has shown their hand after their meeting with Cameron. Others don’t seem to be able to handle the heat:

It was Mark Menzies apparently…
Labour Rebels List Growing
Miliband has called Cameron’s backbenchers“barking” and accused the party of having a“collective nervous breakdown” about tonight’s vote. Tactful short-termism from a leader who has missed the chance to speak for middle-England. The words look even sillier given that one Labour source suggests that up to thirty of Ed’s own side are preparing to call for a referendum. Other sources, closer to the leadership, spin that they are expecting less than fifteen…
Even if it’s half way between the two, the current media narrative that this is just a “Tory splits” story is starting to look a little sloppy.
An Oakeshott Across the Bow
When he resigned from the government in February, Lord Oakeshott, best friend of Vince Cable and one time campaign manager to Chris Huhne, lashed out at his coalition partners for their “arrogance”. Today he has accused the Tory rebels “wrecking the coalition agreement”:
How is voting on a matter of principle as “arrogant” as walking out of a job in government on the instruction of Huhne and Vince Cable in order to try, unsuccessfully, to score points against Osborne? A hypocritical LibDem… Now Guido has seen everything.

Document: The Loyal Tory Lines To Take
As the PM threatens to end the careers of any rebel on the government payroll, the parrot-sheet for the debate has been emailed around. The taxpayer-funded Parliamentary Resources Unit has prepared a list of loyal lines to take, such as:
“Eurosceptics have been vindicated over their choice to oppose the Euro. This does not however mean that a push for full withdrawal from the European Union would be right.”
“Does my Honourable Friend agree that during a time of severe financial difficulty in the eurozone, it would damage the economic interests of this country if we added to the instability by demanding a referendum on our continued membership of the EU?”
Guido has uploaded the entire document here. You can print it out and play “Gizzajob Bingo” during the debate…
UPDATE: Rebel Commander Baker has emailed the troops.
