THE GAMES MUST GO ON “Policy for Woman is eternally the conquest of the Man…”[1] “With world-peace, -- the peace of high policies [peace processes and Round Table Conferences]—the sword side of being retreats and the spindle side rules again. Henceforth, there are only private histories, private destinies, private ambitions…The wars of the age of world-peace are private wars, more fearful than any State wars because they are formless.”[2] One could write several volumes on the collapse of the West solely by analyzing the presentation of gender roles in the mass media from sports to fashion magazines to politics. If this seems like a wide range of fields, remind yourself that all of culture increasingly is a glob of culturetainment, a seamless web of distraction, degradation and cynically manipulated and expensive games. The masses, ordinary people, those who are objects not subjects in the game, receive their distractions ready-made. When they ‘debate’ (make verbal noises) about ‘politics’ or sports or fashion the ‘opinions’ they utter, even in those cases when they are well-reasoned and insightful succeed in the purpose of keeping the plebes pre-occupied with panem et circem, bread and circuses. The culture is over but not the show, and so the games go on. There are dozens of apt head notes for an essay on this topic. I chose the one above because the process of idealization which, on the level of society leads to worship of the idol of State, “the cold monster” Nietzsche termed it, in the West has in its structure the creation of an image-idol that transfigures what is masculine into a super-woman or Queen of heaven. This is expressed, from the Hellenic beginnings of the West in the births of Athena, the invincible virgin warrior, from the head of Zeus or the formation of Aphrodite, embodiment of passion’s omnipotence from the genitals of Ouranos, the heavens.[3] On the plane of trans-cultural development, at the end of the Classical Age, in the corruption of Greco-Roman civilization, all worship that was not from the Jews collapsed into the devotion of Isis-Omnia who absorbed the attributes of the precedent Ishtar, Isis, Astarte, Aphrodite and more. Now we endure a plethora of relatively ephemeral pop culture re-visitations of this paradigm. Selling this decadent version of ancient paganism is the media distraction machine; gulping it down, or absorbing it from the fog and filthy air of media-saturated cultural weather, nearly all people shape themselves to it or, at least, must react to and deal with its effects on others. There is no exit until the collapse of the entire morbid and unnatural system, a system that like the mating of Aphrodite and Ares (“Mars”) breeds Terror. The raid by a large Federal SWAT Team on the Nashville offices and workshops of Gibson Guitar[4] shows the extent to which irrational will to power of the monstrous Nanny State, its hyper-control and fake compassion constantly threatens what Nietzsche might term a castrating strike against innocent and industrious workers. Think of Hera sending Madness (“a Gorgon of Night with the hissing of a hundred snakes”) in her iron chariot to the roof of Herakles’ home to drive him to a family-destroying and suicidal frenzy.[5] This is how the State and Media, its mechanism of instruction operate. They are a Gorgon, a Medusa, the mesmerizing and petrifying image-machine proliferating an endless series of 2-D idols. The financial systems, its main (dis)organizational means work similarly, maddening and paralyzing, that is, befuddling, disabling and impoverishing individuals, families and the nation. Yes, the State is a castrator, cutting off all people from life-sustaining and generative tradition as well as displacing men and fathers. In “the silent, bitter, unforgiving, pitiless war of the sexes” the State is Woman, “the spindle side” and her conquest brings in “the era of world peace” with its endless and “formless” wars of attrition[6] and the retreat into private life of all meaningful discourse that otherwise drowns in the torrent of media noise, a kind of glittering, all-pervading runway show. To be immersed in it is like looking into the stars that spangle the skirts of the Queen of the Night.[7] Thus the apparent triumph of the State actually is the triumph over the Nation and the State by extra-governmental powers, individuals like Rhodes and oligarchies like the Group of Thirty, etc. The Economy keeps trying to grow, actually, despite the efforts of the oligarchies that control the State, is growing slightly, but the financial and intra-State, hidden managers are throttling it. The nation dies, loses its coherence, form and sanity in the ditzy glamour of hand-held electronic devices. The human is displaced by the grinning zombie and pod person whose hysteria rules the educational system and many professions. Hysteria, -- terror – is the distinguishing feature of this elegiac and morbid terminus of the West as a sustained global depression approaches. The way the media massage this into being, colonizing the minds of the masses (most people deserve this designation unfortunately) was described a century ago. “No tamer has his animals more under his power” than the media and those who create and direct its content. In the modern era, beginning in England by the mid-nineteenth century, “English-American politics have createdthrough the Press a force-field of global intellectual and financial tensions in which every individual unconsciously takes up the place allotted to him, so that he must think, will and act as a ruling personality somewhere thinks fit.” In this constantly metastasizing realm of controllers and zombies in which most people do not even see how unreal and grotesque the roles they play and personae they wear are, people scarcely communicate; little discourse is free of clichés or pre-fabricated categories of thought. “The press and its associate, the electrical news-service [screen world] keep the waking consciousness of whole peoples and continents under a deafening drum-fire of catchwords, perspectives”[8] slogans, clichés, talking points and pre-cooked electoral campaigns in which tweedle-dims argue with tweedle dumbers about the ‘issues of the day’ and the ‘reasonable’ solutions ‘to the problems we face’ that are better described in the opening paragraphs above. Spengler’s words apply perfectly to every ‘issue’ formulated for us as we watch and in various ways perceive the apocalypse of America and the settling of its debris into an historical elegy of enormous dimensions. “Today we live so cowed under the bombardment of this intellectual artillery [of the media] that hardly anyone can attain to the inward detachment required for a clear view of the monstrous drama.” Monstrous it truly is; a process of de-humanization and comprehensive impoverishment, -- of the senses, affections, relationships and bank accounts – that was foretold in the horror films and dystopias of the 1950s, or in the great dystopian novels running from Frankenstein to Brave New World, 1984, The Wanting Seed and 1985.[9] Note that the authors are primarily English for the modern and postmodern worlds, the era that witnesses the decay and collapse of the intrinsically doomed West of Romance and its cult of the “Queen of Beauty.”[10] What had remained of the ability to think, to shrug off the chaff of ‘news’ was destroyed by the female-dominated industry of ‘Public Education’ that serves the purposes of disablement of thought to assist management and control including the fiction that the government rules the Nation; dissembling the fact that the State apparatus, increasingly oppressive as it is only is the means of the oligarchies to degrade and extract life from the white or blue collar peasants. “What is truth? For the multitude [it is] that which it continually reads and hears… What the Press wills is true… Three weeks of press-work and the ‘truth’ is acknowledged by everybody.” One might add that those who express or show reluctance to acknowledge media-shaped truths and the ‘parameters of the debate’ are marginalized and treated with varying degrees of horror for, in simple language, they point out that the Emperor and Empress are naked. In today’s lingo, the thinking dissenters create cognitive dissonance for the pod people who cannot tolerate any dissent. They term their monomania “diversity.” When it comes to the idols of the marketplace, these zombies, and the more well-to-do and nominally ‘intelligent’ they are the more intolerant they are have a ‘zero tolerance’ attitude they have absorbed from postmodern digital technology, a magic that is only updated image-weaving, witch-stuff. As the Bank of England prepares to print a special kind of money (“gilts” they term it)[12] to buy the junk bonds of small corporations and businesses, one recalls not only the English invention of “credit money” and modern “economic thought” but that “every kind of diplomacy is of a business nature [and] every business of a diplomatic” nature.[13] This insight is central to an age of the triumphant fiction; an era when “lying has become a universal principle”; an age when “it is not necessary to believe that a charge is true; one must only believe that it is necessary.”[14]One must believe the routine diplomatic lies of modern finance and politics or one will be burned, one way or another, for heresy. The Games must go on and as Huizinga, that great enthusiast of Western image-work proclaimed: all cheating is excused but never someone who critiques the game itself.[15] Eugene Narrett’s recent book Culture of Terror: The Collapse of America, on Amazon. © 2011 Eugene Narrett - All Rights Reserved Footnotes: Eugene Narrett received his BA, MA and PhD from Columbia University in NYC. “The idealist of the early democracies regarded popular education as enlightenment pure and simple. Even today one finds weak heads that become enthusiastic about the Freedom of the Press.
It is precisely this that smoothes the [dominion] of the world press,” that is, the global media. The audience “neither knows or is allowed to know the purposes for which he [or she] is used or the role that he is to play. A more appalling caricature of freedom of thought cannot be imagined... Instead of freedom of thought today there is only a willingness to think to order” by those who intend to “serve man,” just as in the Twilight Zone episode of that name. Various slivers of the oligarchies (they are not all on the same page and if they ever feel they are arrange a spat to bedazzle and mobilize the masses) contend over who will have bragging rights for the most effective “mind-training” capabilities, that is, for market share. Professional sports teams denote areas of mind-training, the true ‘universities’ of our era by being implanted in the most effective media markets no matter how ridiculous it is to have ice hockey in Miami or baseball in Toronto or Minneapolis. No one must be allowed to escape the reach of Cosmopolis, “the great petrifact.”[11]

10. See Tennyson’s Idylls of the King (1855 – 83) for an implied but intense and sustained critique of the social consequences of this cult. Wagner’s Ring Cycle, composed during the same period also celebrated the New Age of Harmony that the rule of Woman would initiate. Thanks to ‘the British Invasion’ the idea and symbols saturated popular culture and gave a lethal push to America’s decay.

The most recent ‘stimulus’ crashed the markets.
