All you need to know is that 6 of the 18 judges at the ICC are resigning this year and Goldstone has been appointed to head a new NGO financed by Soros to advise on what judges to appoint in their place. Goldstone Returns Richard Goldstone doesn’t know when to quit. Two years ago, the South African former judge led a United Nations fact-finding inquiry into the Israel-Gaza conflict. The resulting report — widely dubbed the Goldstone Report — was so slanted against Israel that it was denounced by the Obama administration as “deeply flawed” and by the House of Representatives as “irredeemably biased.” This past April, Goldstone himself, chief author of the report, finally confessed to a few mistakes, including allegations that Israel as a matter of policy had committed war crimes. Reforming Israel As they observed the massive economic protests that convulsed Israel this summer, Americans and Europeans had reason to wonder why Israelis would have cause to complain about their economic situation. Israel’s economy grew by 5.6 percent last year, and the Bank of Israel is predicting 4.8 percent growth this year. Unemployment fell to 5.7 percent in May, its lowest level in 27 years. With much of the West still suffering from anemic growth and high unemployment, Israel’s situation seems enviable by comparison. Yet hiding behind these impressive macroeconomic statistics are significant domestic problems, problems that successive Israeli governments, preoccupied as they have been with the peace process and its attendant terrorism, simply ignored for the better part of two decades. These problems ignited the protests. And while many of the solutions proposed by the protesters would make things worse, their success in... Sovereignty is under attack. Libya was attacked under the doctrine Responsibility to Protect (R2P). Now NATO is getting ready to invade Syria under the same doctrine. Ted Belman WND explains; The Libya bombings have been widely regarded as a test of a military doctrine called “Responsibility to Protect.” In his address to the nation in April explaining the NATO campaign in Libya, Obama cited the doctrine as the main justification for U.S. and international airstrikes against Libya. Responsibility to Protect, or Responsibility to Act, as cited by Obama, is a set of principles, now backed by the United Nations, based on the idea that sovereignty is not a privilege but a responsibility that can be revoked if a country is accused of “war crimes,” “genocide,” “crimes against humanity” or “ethnic cleansing.” Harper’s support for Israel is remarkable given the fact that the Muslim population in Canada is growing exponentially and far exceeds the Jewish population. There is a major difference between Canadian Jews and American Jews, namely that Canadian Jews are more religious and identify more strongly with Israel and the Jewish people. Ted Belman How the political shift among Jewish voters plays in Canada There’s no such thing as the “Jewish vote.” Instead, there are voters who are Jewish of every hue known to the faith. Many of these voters, however, have changed their political allegiance. An Ipsos Reid exit poll of voters in the last federal election found that 52 per cent of Jewish voters supported the Conservatives, 24 per cent the Liberals and 16 per cent the NDP. If remotely accurate, the exit poll reflected an enormous shift in voter preference among Canadian Jews. It is suggested that the US and Turkey held off attacking Syria out of concern for Tel Aviv. I don’t buy it. Their concern is that Israel will retaliate leading to a major war in which they are involved. Ted Belman Turkey to hold military exercise on Syrian border. Assad threatens to destroy Tel Aviv if attacked DEBKAfile Exclusive Report October 4, 2011, 5:03 PM (GMT+02:00) War tensions between Turkey, NATO and Syria shot up again Tuesday, Oct. 4, with the announcement from Ankara that Turkey embarks Wednesday on a 10-day “mobilization” exercise in the southern province of Hatay along the Syrian border, through which arms are being funneled to Syrian protesters. Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan is expected on the same day to visit the 7,000 Syrians who have taken refuge in Hatay from President Bashar Assad’s troops.Goldstone to advise on replacement judges at the ICC
