Ashdod, Ashkelon, Sderot, Kiryat Malachi, Ofakim, Gan Yavne and the Eshkol farm district were subjected to Jihad Islami volleys of more than 35 missiles Saturday, Oct. 29, in retaliation for the loss of a senior five-man missile team in an Israeli air force strike a few hours earlier. The terrorists were shown firing 20 rounds in rapid succession from a Grad multiple rocket launcher mounted on a small truck which then drove off at speed – the same weapon used by Libyan rebels in Sirte. Schools in southern Israel and Beersheba University will stay closed Sunday and people living within range of missile fire from Gaza told to stay near fortified buildings. Saturday, Oct. 29, Jihad fired 35 missiles and shells, including 15 heavy Grads, in several volleys at Ashdod, Ashkelon, Ofakim, Gan Yavneh, Kiryat Malachi and Eshkol farm district. Eleven people suffered injuries, including two seriously when their Ashkelon home took a direct hit. The Israeli air force earlier struck a Jihad Islami facility in Gaza killing its missile operations chief.
