LABOUR leader Ed Miliband is facing a rebellion by up to 30 of his own backbenchers after ordering his MPs to oppose the proposal for a European Union referendum in next week’s Commons vote. Britain's new risk watchdog is "on the horns of a dilemma" over whether to allow banks to tap their capital buffers to help boost the flagging economy, a top regulator said on Thursday. LUXEMBOURG: France blasted Germany and five other European Union countries on Thursday for their continued opposition to an EU-funded food aid scheme, saying a dismantling of the programme would leave millions of Europeans unable to feed themselves.
He angered the growing band of Eurosceptics in his party’s ranks by deciding to impose a three-line whip on the vote.
And many party insiders fear Mr Miliband has made a huge error that will backfire among the many traditional Labour voters who are fed up with the EU.

A blocking minority against the scheme held firm at an EU farm ministers’ meeting in Luxembourg on Thursday, despite a last-ditch attempt by French Farm Minister Bruno Le Maire to break the deadlock in talks with his German counterpart in Berlin on Wednesday night.
