The news is breaking thick and fast over at OccupyLSX. Subsequent to St Paul’s Cathedral canon chancellor Giles Fraser resigning, chaplain Reverend Fraser Dyer has resigned too. The latest resignation is that of the cathedral Dean, one Graeme Knowles, instrumental in the Anglican Church losing the plot and threatening legal action against the Occupy movement. Today, St Paul’s has backed down and issued a statement saying that: “The Chapter of St Paul's Cathedral has unanimously agreed to suspend its current legal action against the protest camp outside the church, following meetings with Dr Richard Chartres, the Bishop of London, late last night and early this morning.” It looks like the City of London Corporation may also be suspending its legal action against the Occupy movement for a number of days. For an excellent understanding of what this body really gets up to, see The medieval, unaccountable Corporatio n of London is ripe for protest by George Monbiot.

A MELBOURNE woman who suffered an auto-immune and neurological attack after being injected with the cervical cancer vaccine Gardasil is leading a class action against its manufacturer. Seven other Victorian women who are considering joining the court case against Merck say they have suffered anaphylaxis and physical breakdowns as a result of the vaccine. One has attributed a miscarriage to the injections. Naomi Snell, 28, said her life was put on hold for more than two years after she lost the ability to walk, battled crippling back and neck pain, and suffered convulsions that started soon after her first injection in July 2008. "I never attributed it to my vaccine so I went back for my second and third dose," she said. "My doctors were baffled. They did diagnose me with multiple sclerosis, but have since retracted that and said it was a neurological reaction to the vaccine."

The new National Vaccine Policy Draft 2011 by the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare comes out openly in favour of public-private partnerships and suggests flexible governing and funding mechanisms to support vaccine development in the PPP mode. This article argues that our vaccine policy must look into the health of the children in the country and it should not be overly concerned solely with the viability of the vaccine industry.
